Please help.
When you did your certificate assessment from OAU, was the transcript sent by the school or you were given the transcript?
I want to know how fast it could be if sent by the school.

I got my OAU ECA 14 months agos. At that time, the pressure was not this intense. My brother obtained it on my behalf and sent it through courier. They obliged him because he was a Phd student and was very persuasive. They verified my certificate by email which made the whole turnaround time about 4 -5 weeks.

My suggestion is option (1). I had a similar experience but my UK certificate is BSc in a different field from my Naija ND cert. I had them include the ND because I used it under the related NOC category in my application to CIC in Nov 2014. Yours appears to be in the same field. The MSc. will still give you the points you're entitled to. I also must warn you that asking them to reevaluate the Naija BSc cert will create delays as they say. I'm talking from experience. I nearly missed the deadline for submission late last year. There were several mails back and forth which created delays and tensions. Also, I've come to learn that Oyibo no dey think like Naija people because their systems usually function as designed. Also factor your Naija institution. Are they very responsive, etc? All of these do count.

Also listen to what others have to say about this and make your informed choice.

Regards.

pls are you saying that if is not necessary to send one's naija degree to WES for evaluation if one has a higher degree from a foreign university?

JesusDWay, please what is your take on this? thanks

It's a bit complicated as i'm reading recently how folks who studied Masters in Canada but first degree in their home country are having issues with CIC after having being given ITA. CIC is telling them they can't find their ECA details on WES website, but the same CIC has earlier said if you have a Canadian Degree, you don't need ECA. It seems however, that since they have registered their Bsc which is foreign, CIC will want the Canadian equivalency, whether the Masters was done in Canada or not. What i can say(kindly note that its an opinion and not an authoritative advice) is that, if you registered Bsc that is not Canadian, you may need to evaluate it as well so that you wont be logged on story.com by CIC at the end of the day. Besides, i think you wont be paying extra to WES if you include your Bsc after having asked them to do only the Foreign degree. To be better assured though, you can contact CIC and let them tell you what to do.

How does joining a professional body increase your score? Wont you have to write their exams and get certificated first? Abeg, enlighten me on this o grin . Meanwhile, if you know of any or can help with available jobs in that line, kindly let me know. It's what i've been wanting to do. I used to know the two major professional bodies in Supply Chain in Canada but i've forgotten now. May have to research again

i am applying as the main applicant but also including my husband's details, IELTS score, etc

Is it possible for him to apply as the main applicant and also add me on to his profile?

that way, we've got two profiles in the pool. one for him and one for me - and maximise our chances of getting selected. is this allowed?

My opinion is this.. If you guys have two different profiles in the pool, but the same number of points on the two profiles and the same information.. Really don't see this as maximizing your chances..
Reason being that the selection process is all based points on individual profiles.(not dual profiles)

Cos when they send you your ITA, they won't send another ITA to your husband, due to the similar profile already in their database..

But hey, its just my opinion

Its not necessary, the highest point is what maximizes your chance, not two profiles. Check who will have the highest points between you two and let the person be the principal applicant. I noticed you didn't say he has ECA, if he hasn't done it and he will likely have more points than you if he does it, i will say you encourage him to do ECA for his qualifications. If he won't do it(some spouses are just coasting along, they are not very enthusiastic about it), then you have to be the principal applicant but his IELTS will boost your points a bit

I'm not sure being a member will boost your point. I'm a Procurement/supply chain person. I'm currently holding a membership of Institute for Supply Managent USA. I will write their proffesional exam this month ( CPSM 1 and 2) and write the CPSM 3 latter in July. Once i pass the three exam I can then apply for my certificate which can will be converted to SCMA in Canada.

I have applied for several purchasing jobs in Canada but they keep coming back to me that I have to be a citizen or permanent residence before they can offer me job. I'm a Nov applicant with NOC 0113 and PER in March. Hopefully at the rate AVO is going maybe it will get to Nov applicant by October. If you need more detail about the certification for Procurement you can PM me

Hi Guys,

I have been following this forum for a while now and I must say it has been really helpful. I am currently swimming in the pool and hoping the score drops some more.

I need a bit of advise thou, is a printed online bank statement acceptable by CIC? Reason I ask is that I plan to use my account in the UK as part of my proof of funds but I am currently based elsewhere. Would an online statement fly?

@ JesusDWay & Solomonwis, I would really appreciate your torts on my question above.

@ Zandora, can you please shed more light on the list of documents CIC requested from you when you received your ITA? you mentioned they requested a letter from your bank listing all your accounts and their start dates.

Not taking a jab at you but it's good if you take time to go through what has been posted earlier on this topic. The leg work you need to do presently is to register for IELTS(General) and write the exam while at the same time, process your transcript to be sent to World Educational Services for evaluation to determine it's equivalency in Canadian education. When you have the two, you can then apply for Express Entry. You can in the meantime also go on www.cic.gc.ca to learn about Express Entry and it's requirements

Nope! What I meant was that irrespective of where you studied, if your 2nd/ highest degree is in the same field, it'll save you time to evaluate the highest degree only but if they're different and you're applying under the NOC for the lower(st) one, then it makes sense to include the latter in the ECA report. Whichever the case, you'll still get the maximum points for the highest degree. It's the time factor and possible delays that you must consider. One thing I do know is that WES doesn't send verification requests to foreign institutions in the UK after receiving your transcripts from them.

@ JesusDWay & Solomonwis, I would really appreciate your torts on my question above.

@ Zandora, can you please shed more light on the list of documents CIC requested from you when you received your ITA? you mentioned they requested a letter from your bank listing all your accounts and their start dates.

The documents that were requested after I received my ITA are as follows:

Document: Employment Records
You must provide proof of each of your current and previous work experiences.
Your evidence should include a reference letter from your employer and previous pay stubs, where available.
The reference letter is an official document printed on company letterhead and must include your name, the company's contact information (address, telephone number and e-mail address), the signature of your immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company and a business card of the person signing the letter. The letter should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties/responsibilities, job status (if current job), the dates you worked for the company, the number of work hours per week and your annual salary plus benefits.
You must scan all documents for this work experience and save them as one file. (Each work experience requires a separate file.)

Document: Police Certificates (Multiple)
You must provide a police certificate for every country, region or territory, other than Canada, in which you lived for 6 months or more. A police certificate
Opens a new window is a copy of your criminal record, or a declaration of the absence of any criminal record.
Police certificates are different in each country and territory and may be called police clearance certificates, good conduct certificates, judicial record extracts, etc. They are issued by police authorities or government departments and used by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to determine a person's admissibility to enter Canada.
Certain countries will not issue a police certificate, or provide the certificate directly to you. If this applies to you please provide a letter of explanation in lieu of a police certificate.
You will be advised if you are required to obtain a police certificate for Canada

Document: Marriage License/Certificate
If you were married in Canada:
You must have a marriage certificate issued by the province or territory where the marriage took place.
If you were married outside Canada:
The marriage must be valid under the law of the country where it took place and under Canadian law.
A marriage performed in an embassy or consulate must comply with the law of the host country where it took place, not the country of nationality of the embassy or consulate.

Document: Proof of Means of Financial Support
If you are visiting Canada, you must prove that you can support yourself and the family members accompanying you while you are in Canada by providing as many of the following documents:
•your bank statements for the past four months
•a bank draft in convertible currency
•pay stubs
•an employment letter

•proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees
•tax reports, declarations or statements
•proof of a student/education loan from a financial institution
•a letter from the person or institution providing you with money
•proof of funding paid from within Canada, if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program
•proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada
If you are applying for permanent residence in Canada, you must provide an official letter issued by your financial institution indicating your financial profile.
Your financial profile includes a listing of all your bank (chequing and savings) and investment accounts. The official letter must be printed on the letterhead of the financial institution and must include your name, the contact information of the financial institution (address, telephone number and e-mail address), the account numbers, dates of when each account was opened and the balance of each account over the previous 6 months.
You must scan all proof of funds documents and save them as one file.

Document: Education Diplomas/Degrees
You must provide proof that you completed your post‑secondary education, such as a diploma and/or degree.
Examples of post‑secondary education are:
•trade/apprenticeship

•a Master's degree
•an academic degree awarded by a graduate school of a college or university (You must have completed a Bachelor's degree before a Master's degree can be earned.)
