PDP Governors Clash Over ‘mu’azu-must- Go Campaign’ by Nobody: 12:47pm On May 10, 2015 |
Adamu Muazu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, is under increasing pressure to resign following the party’s woeful performance in the general elections. Adamu Muazu The agitation for his resignation has polarised the party’s governors. While several PDP Northern governors have thrown in their lot with the embattled party boss, the Southsouth and Southeast governors insist on Mu’azu’s resignation. In particular, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has recently called on Mu’azu to leave his position adding that “it is morally wrong for the National Chairman to remain in office after leading the party into its first national electoral loss.” Babangida Aliyu, Niger state governor, claimed that the PDP leaders should emulate the British political leaders who quit after their party’s failure in the Thursday polls. Ikedi Ohakim, the immediate past governor of Imo state, yesterday also joined in the Muazu- must-go campaign. Responding to numerous calls for his resignation, the party chairman said that he would not resign, noting that the PDP must put an end to its “developing culture of using and dumping” party’s members. According to multiple party sources, the Muazu-must-go campaign is threatening to put PDP Northern governors and their Southern counterparts on a collision course. One source told The Nation that at recent meeting PDP Northern governors resolved to mobilise party chieftains across the North to resist the move to sack Muazu. “Governors at the meeting insisted that the plot to remove Muazu does not enjoy the support of President Goodluck Jonathan. “According to them, those behind the divisive move are merely popularizing their intention by dropping the name of the president,” the source said. The convener of the meeting, a Northwest governor, reportedly said he had spoken with Goodluck Jonathan on the issue and the president stressed that he was not a party to the plan to change the leadership of the PDP before or after his exit from office. The source added that the governors agreed to remain in the PDP and ensure that all organs of the party are allowed to complete their tenure. Meanwhile, another source said that the Southern governors tabled a modified plan to replace the Muazu-led executives with a caretaker committee. This was reportedly rejected by the PDP Northern governors, who similarly rejected a plan to install President Goodluck Jonathan as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the party. “There is an imminent clash of interest amongst the governors. There seems to be no way to bring them to an agreement because some governors, especially those from the Southsouth, are still going about how to reposition the party without Muazu and his executives. “Even as we speak, they had a meeting where it was resolved that the Southsouth should produce the next chairman while the Southwest should retain the Secretary. “The decision of three Northern governors who were previously part of the ‘Muazu Must Go’ plot to pull out could not even convince these governors to dump the plot. “So unless something gives way soon, any plan to change the leadership of the party and even the BoT in the nearest future will pitch our governors against one another along regional lines. This is obviously not good for the PDP,” the source said. Meanwhile, Goodluck Jonathan yesterday promised to work with the PDP Post- Election Review Committee to return the party to its lost glory . He said that everything would be done to ensure that the PDP not only presents a credible opposition for the country but also works to return to power in 2019. http://www.naij.com/436020-muazu-must-go-campaign-polarises-pdp-governors.html Cc. lalasticlala ishilove |

Borrussia: Gov. Aliyu Joins Fayose, Wants Muazu out As PDP Chair Gov. Babangida Aliyu of Niger on Saturday urged leaders of PDP to emulate the British political leaders, who resigned after leading their party to defeat in Thursday’s election. Aliyu gave the advice in Dutse at the inauguration of a township road named after the then “G7 Governors’’ by Gov. Sule Lamido of Jigawa. He said that any leader, who led his political party to defeat, like it happened to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supposed to resign. ‘’It is unfortunate that people had to be called to resign. “The leaders are supposed to voluntarily resign their positions for the loss at the just concluded general elections. |

What is he still doing there? He commandeered the PDP to a shipwreck yet he wants to be the captain of the refurbished ship. Isn't that absurd? |

Pdp should bloame itself for its failure and not Mu'azu. They should blame gej, pej, fayose, ffk, okupe, etc. But since they don't want him, he should just go. Once APC gives us more than what PDP gave us(not hardship oo ), that will be the end of PDP |
