New Craze In Town- Ladies Retaining Their Fathers Name After Marriage by truthalways(m): 3:51pm On May 12, 2015 |
I recently noticed that our newly wedded ladies are retaining their fathers name after marriage. You hear names like Bisi Johnson-Adekunle, Evangeline Ojukwu-Chukwuma or Halima Haruna-Ciroma. Guys can you allow this and ladies why are you doing this? 5 Likes 2 Shares |

I honestly don't think it's crazy. As long as she and her spouse agree on it, then it is fine. She should just include her husband's name, there's no need for her to completely remove her father's name. 37 Likes 5 Shares |

I don't think that it's an issue to take husband's surname and keep maiden name. It won't change anything if you do and your marriage shouldn't suffer because of it. Men likes to feel in power and important so they requires women to take on their name. I don't see women going around shouting "take my father's name" so why are the men shouting? There are more important things to worry about than surname. It won't strengthen or kill your marriage. . Stupidity will! A man told me that he left his wife because she didn't take his surname and felt she didn't love him so. People nowadays don't have a clue what marriage is and why it was created in the first place! 42 Likes 6 Shares |

If it's not agreed by both parties, then it's not right. These are some of the 'little' issues that can cause marital conflicts. If you're married, you've left your Father and Mother, then you and your spouse are now one. Stop all these modern-day trends in marriages. 23 Likes |

sagitarius: Where is it in the bible that say a woman must take the man's surname because she left her patwnt's home. There is no such thing as modern trend marriage. Marriage is marriage regardless of the season. If it is not a big deal for a woman to take the man's bame....then it shouldn't be a big deal for a man to take the woman's ,name. Simple. 16 Likes 1 Share |

That's why I said it should be agreed by both parties madam. Why do children bear the man's name as their last name? Because He's the head of the Household (And this is biblical) The wife bears the name of the husband as his wife. If you're married, your name is changed from Miss (which ends with your Father's name) to Mrs (Which ends with ur hubby's name) as a change in status to bear that name of the Head now. Marriage is all about understanding and communication. If that will bring about problems, then the wife shouldn't insist on bearing her Father's name at the detriment of a Peaceful home. sagitarius: If a marriage suffer because of a surname then thar marriage is useless! The bible says nothing about taking of a surname upon marriage....that is a man's idealogy. Jesus Christ is the head of the Christian family and you don't see men bearing the name of Christ as their surname so why expect women to do what men won't do themselves, Exactly. 17 Likes 1 Share |
