Oil marketers, Tuesday, blamed the Federal Government for the persistent fuel scarcity, even as the fuel crisis continued unabated across the Federal Capital Territory and most parts of the country.

One of the marketers who spoke to Vanguard in Abuja, said Nigerians should hold the Federal Government responsible for the crisis, stating that the government has, against all advice and agreements, refused to pay the marketers the debts owed them in respect of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit, PMS.

The marketer who chose to remain anonymous, said the Federal Government appears not to be serious about bringing the scarcity to an end, as the government has failed to honour most of the agreements reached between it and the marketers.

The marketer said, “Nigerians should blame the Federal Government for the fuel scarcity currently witnessed across the country. Marketers have shown commitment towards ending the scarcity, but the Federal Government has not been serious about abiding with certain agreements reached during some of our meetings.

“The fact that most oil marketers have stopped fuel importation into the country at the moment was because they do not have money to finance the import and this is because the Federal Government has refused to pay us the money they owe us.

God knows how much i hate this government - A government telling me to blame fuel scarcity on marketers , Did i fuuucking for marketers?

Its so pathetic that Goverment in this part of the world dont take responsibilities for anything. I could remember Obama coming out to claim responsibility for an Americana that was mistakenly killed in an Airstrike, but our own govt is telling us to blame boko haram,. If you had done your job will boko haram have killed so much people?

I felt like crying today, seeing the suffering an average Nigerian is passing thru due to the Greed of a selected few,I have said it countless times Subsidy Must Go...License to import must be divested to include about 100 companies(to break the monopoly of 21 importers against the whole Nation) and fuel must be sold at the prevailing market price determined...This is the only way out,for the outstanding payments I will urge GEJ to pay them all outstanding debt to enable Buhari start on a fresh slate and decide for himself if Subside will continue or not

At the moment, there is so much crude oil in the international market with lesser buyers, yet in nigeria fuel is becoming a luxury good. What is wrong with us nigerians? Why do we prefer to go the other way when the whole world goes in the opposite direction? How on earth did we become inhuman to ourself? The whole world must be making a huge joke out of us.In the commite of nations, we are a laughing stock.

The real ELEPHANT in the room is that fuel subsidy money does not give the marketers ANY profit.

And the money they paid them just now is not complete.

Meanwhile...the banks won't lend them money to import while they wait for more cash to come in.

And pretty soon the fuel subsidy will soon go. (Wait, hasn't it already gone....look at the 2015 budget...no subsidy).

Ladies and gentlemen.....welcome to the new paradigm of N150 per liter of fuel. Because let's be honest....importing fuel at N114 per litre and selling it at N87 per litre...and just paying marketers N37 difference....where is the profit.? Subsidy is on the way out, kids. Especially as we now have the added problem of no kudi in the budget.

No more subsidy

The federal government should fix the refineries or take the petrol themselves to another country to be refined. Cut off the marketers.

Madam,I expected you to respond with some measure of civility we re here for a mature discourse..My Points
-An agreement reached between the fuel importers and federal govt. Is that Fed.Govt clears the oustanding balance of about 100Billion,at the moment they are halting importation,So what do you suggest FG should do at the moment?
- By divesting I mean removing subsidy and issuing licences to as many Companies operating in the oil and gas industry that wants to import while DPR performs statutory regulatory function of monitoring demand and supply
This is the summary of what I meant,if you don't understand this..Then......YOU NEED PEAK MILK

Can any knowledgeable person answer my perhaps ignorant question?

Why can't NNPC/FG do the importation of fuel themselves, why delegate it to some individual/private company, whose interest is themselves and not the people of Nigeria?

Thanks in advance for answering. It has me flummoxed.

Hmmm... So because he is head of state ... He should blindly order the payment of falsified figures presented to him as oil import cost owed to marketers... Its evident if they make u a leader ur MUMU go worst pass goat own

The oil marketers have subjected Nigerians to suffering because of their( the oil marketers') greed. Subsidy is a scam. I place a curse on them. It shall not be well with them. All they do is incite the gullible citizens against the government.
