I did exactly that yesterday but I'm stuck here finding a way to completely erase my phone. Most inbuilt apps are not opening again. Abeg bro, i just buy d fone ni. I fit commit suicide.

Evening boss. Sorry for the earlier post. Was just being driven by rage. My problem isn't solved yet ooo. And I'm already hearing from anoda thread dat my phone is gone. Oga Enoch abeg help me out. No matter the price or efforts, I will go through it in order for my fone to b back to normal. Almost all my built in apps ain't opening again. I can't receive calls but can make. Tried factory reset several times but all to no avail. Imagine, factory reset couldn't unroot my phone. Even the previous font is still present after wiping everything. Four-day-old phone for that matter! This must be a dream or something

That tutorial is for installing cwm recovery. You now need to boot to cwm and do the factory reset from there.

What's the audio quality of your calls? Is that distorted as well? If not, I'll advice you try another media player.

Restart your phone and hold the vol up button while restarting. Or power off your phone completely, wait 10secs then power it on holding the power button + vol up button together.
Better still you can reboot to cwm via mobile uncle or titanium backup if you are rooted.

I use titanium backup to backup my apps and app data and I use superbackup to backup my contacts, SMS and call logs. You can Google more info about these apps.

And backup is not necessary. I do it because I change my phone regularly and I don't want to lose anything in transit.

Can't one use the back up and restore app that came with the phone? What's the downside to using this?

First what's the audio quality of your calls?
Second, Are you using inbuilt player to play the musics and videos? If yes, try another media player like mobo or vlc.
