I dont know how you guys see it..but I admire guys who speak pure,polished and neat English.. It's a turn on for me,when I see someone with an impeccable eloquence,that minute i don't even care if you are broke or ugly..I just respect them.
But for guys with bad eloquence, I'm not trying to insult or intimidate you, you could always brush up your English, I want guys to know that good eloquence,fluent usage of English is a huge turn on for girls especially the brilliant ones, or so I think...

Dudes correcting my write ups with fear of being scrutinized by others, proofreading their writeups over and over to avoid blunders and impress others to make it look like they are not victims of the topic, reading my comments and looking for wrongly placed comma,full stop or apostrophe, well I don't have time to do all of that. When you post a comment and there are mistakes,it doesn't necessarily mean that you are bereft of the use of english,well, that depends on the construction though. You don't access one's English from typewritten grammar, except in extreme cases. I never said I was perfect,no one is. But if your English is generally poor, I won't really regard you.

I'm dating a guy whose command of the English Language is a bit poor. It's not like he doesn't speak it but often times, there's grammatical blunders.
e.g Using "is" instead of "was" and all that.

Lately, I realized that whatever grammar you may speak may not necessarily make you a better person so to speak.

Reason is,
I left this guy and started dating someone who had a better command of the English Language but this did not make him a better person. Instead he used his knowledge of the language to make life painful when he did not get his way.

I'm grooming this guy now. Make him read books, see movies and practice his speaking skills.

In good time, I believe he'll be better.

Bro or Sis, why are u people trying to discourage a young lady setting the right agenda. You should encourage her. Her post does not humiliate poor English speakers but challenges them to improve. As a nation we must criticise one another in all areas - educational,political,religious to improve. The developed countries we worship today became what they are through centuries of continuous self criticism. The fact that you come from a poor background does not mean you should not improve on your spoken English. Nigerians are just too lazy to pick a book and learn by themselves. Nigerian youths should be ready to eat the humble pie when faulted and learn thereby, not going about bragging about senselessness.
