well... looking at the current state of SANDF, they wanted to bomb ground targets with air-air missiles because of lack of funds to properly arm the jets.

i suspect zambia gave them fuel on credit to fly for cameras to decieve you fools they were going to do anything.

and nice excuse by the way.

you could fly bombs on c-130 to CAR, but waited for days to charter a plane to fly your wounded and defeated troops out.

nice move

http://www.saairforce.co.za/news-and-events/1196/sa-was-ready-for-more

"John Morgan, a South African working in Zambia, was amazed while at Ndola airport on Saturday waiting for his flight and four Gripen fighter aircraft landed.

Shortly thereafter, a South African C-130 Hercules cargo plane with the Gripens ground crew also landed there. Morgan's photos show the Gripens IRIS air-to-air missiles and equipped with long-range tanks.

According to Beeld's information a stock of bombs was sent in a C-130."

Stock of bombs sent in a C-130. End of discussion.

Who said they wanted to Bomb targets with Air to Air missiles don't you dunderheads get that jets need to be able to protect themselves just incase they run into threats.

Which stupid Country would send their jets on a protection mission to a foreign country without giving them the simplest capabilities of protecting themselves first.

hahahahahahaha... Nigeria flew alpha jets to liberia and sl without air-air missiles during the civil wars there. did same to mali past Niger. that is the experience we are talking about brah.

fools. your military and government are so inexperienced in such missions that they forget they have to ask for permission to fly past the countries' airspace by which hostile attack on your jets by the host countries is less likely.
seeing as serious as the crisis was then, those countries would have obliged without much delay. That's if you are truly respected over there.

it's common sense bro.

so by your explanation, SA lacks the diplimatic power to make such happen.

This is st*pid its like asking why would GEJ need Body Guards for when he visits any of those countries, since they love respect and fear Nigeria why would you president need guards to protect him.

You have to take precautions regardless of who you are, please stop being Naïve.

Dude you are st*pid you think because someone allows you to use their airspace and guarantees safe passage through their country you think you still won't need to take safety precautions?

You are Naïve and immature

This is why I used GEJ as an example.

The fact that Ivory Coast, Chad etc... May "fear and respect" Nigeria and allowed him to visit their country doesn't mean that GEJ won't need his body Guards protect him even though there might not be any threats to his life.

SAAF had AAM because they had to be able to protect themselves because we know that threats can come from anywhere.

Obama needs everywhere he goes because he's people know that its better to be prepared and ready for anything than to take chances.

You need to protect yourself regardless of who you are or where you are.

More lies lies lies!!

On Saturday 23 March 2013 28 Squadron began with a series of missions to assist the SANDF in Ops Vimbezela. The two crews who were put on standby early that morning were later tasked to Langebaan and De Aar Military Airfield where they brought back over 63 000lbs of ammunition and 39 Special Force members. Fighting had already broken out in Bangui, Central Africa Republic the previous evening and another aircraft left Saturday afternoon for Entebbe,Uganda.

The fighting in Bangui eventually led to 13 South African soldiers being killedand 27 injured. Two C130’s were then tasked as part of the rescue mission in order to bring them home. Lt Col C. Hawtrey was the commander of the aircraft in Entebbe. His crew transported 23 medical staff and returned with the 27 wounded soldiers who needed to be Casevac’ed out of Bangui late Sunday evening. Officer Commanding of 28 Squadron, Col H.J. Prinsloo, was the commander who flew on call sign Rescue 911. His crew transported the mortuary up to Bangui via Entebbe and returned with the 13 bodies the following day. “It was a sombre setting in Bangui the day the bodies were brought home”, said
the crew as they described the rainy weather and the bagpipes which played Amazing Grace in the background.

A third aircraft then departed for Entebbe and remained for 8 days flying between Entebbe and Gemena. This aircraft was flown by 28 Squadron’s only female commander, Maj C. Duven and they remained in the Democratic Republic of Congo until 31 March flying 11 missions and a total of 29.7 hours between Entebbe and Gemena. They transported over 80 000lbs of cargo and 41 personnel in the duration of their mission. In the following ten days another five missions were tasked for 28 Squadron and they assisted in flying to Bloemfontein and Hoedspruit to fetch more ammunition and personnel, a total of 6 500lbs and 114 personnel. Over this period 28 Squadron flew to Makhado, Ndola, Kinshasa, Gemena,Bangui, Mbandaka andEntebbe.

Lt Col F. Smith’s crew transported the Air Force Task Force who were tasked as Grippen Protection. The aircraft was ready to participate in visual reconnaissance and support for Combat Search and Rescue at both Mbandaka in DRC and Bangui in preparation of the arrival of the Grippen. The crew stayed in Gemena along with the 2 Rooivalks and 2 Oryx’s flying between Bangui and Gemena to retrieve the last of the Special Force members from Bangui. On one of their last missions while flying tactical low level they experienced a Missile Warning upon final approach and heard shots fired around the base after they had landed.
They returned safely on 3 April.

On 2 April Lt C. Hawtrey and his crew flew to Makhado where they assisted in deploying the Grippen Groundcrew. They flew
to Ndola and then to Kinshasa ahead of the four Grippen. From 23 March until the 6 April, 28 Squadron transported over 356 200lbs of
cargo and 462 personnel. Over 60 flights were flown in the approximately 10 taskings 28 Squadron received as part of Ops Vimzela.

Again. You dont even understand your own link. They are very very correct. "Cold air contracts, becomes more dense, and thus heavier than warm air." Very correct.

The part that you will never ever understand is that fact applies to air at the same pressure. When you open your fridge, the cold air sinks to your feet because because it is denser/heavier than the warm air around it. But...the air pressure in your fridge and surroundings are the same, thats why that happens.

Air at very high altitude on the other hand is at a much lower pressure than at sea level. Hence it will not be denser than air at sea level, even though it is colder. I asked...why do jet liners need to be pressurized when flying at high altitude? The air there is much colder than air at sea level. So according to you, it must be denser than air at sea level. So why do they pressurized commercial jets? Can your mind even grasp that question?

I told you, you are out of your intellectual depth. This argument is not for you. You have no clue what you are talking about.

During weather forecast, air at high altitude is considered, yes or NO?
