The South South had found a good ally in the north before the Isaac Adaka Boro era during the Willink Commission of 1957/8. It's was only strengthened the more when on 27 May 1967 a northerner, Yakubu Gowon, carved out South Eastern State (today's Akwa Ibom and Cross River states) and Rivers State (today's Rivers and Bayelsa states) from the Eastern Region. It's the same men like Elechi Amadi, Dappa Briye, etc that fought for this that landed in Ojukwu's detention during the war.

Whatever worth doing well started somewhere maybe as whining to some folks then too

1. Define new leaders. Donald Duke was fresh. Fashola is fresh. Sanusi is fresh. Why cant the new people with aspirations step up to contest for the primaries?
