It is no longer news! Some graduates are even willing to work for free so that they can garner experience. The amazing thing is that some of these graduates that apply for marketing jobs can actually sell things for themselves and earn up to N20,000/month. It is all about orientation. It is high time our youths developed their entrepreneurial skills. I suggest this link. http://businessinfohub.com |

We all know the economy is bad. These days, most companies won't employ unless on contract basis. The best thing now is to acquire a skill and leave the peanut paying employers. |

If you're jobless, listen to my advice or look for the 6000 naira jobs. It seems you're comfortable with it. If you got nothing better to write, stop quoting me. |

idyexcel: Unemployment get level sis. U shld understand dat if a graduate could take up a job of 6k monthly to survive, you ought to understand dat no where on earth such a person can get cash to acquire any skill or start any small biz. Feeding itaelf might b a problem for d person. A person dat can boast of 10k monthly on his own will in no way take up such job, so where on earth does "start something small" (as pple normally call it) or "acquire skill" hold for such person. After all, ds skills n biz are not free in its totality. 1 Like |

Be self employed by cutting some parts of your body to sale to get initial capital? This is so serious, I have just discovered that some people live in this jungle called Nigeria, but do not know what is going on this country. Especially those who are comparably doing well. The way this PDP led government has raped the economy of this nation for the past 16 years of oil boom, only God that knows how best to reward them. If you go to find out the work load of most UNIVERSITY GRADUATES that earn less than #10,000 per month, it may suprise you to know that most of them are required to deliver not less than 12 lessons every day excluding assessment work and other extra curricula activities. Some School prorietors/proprietress even insist that you attend their church if not, be ready to loose the job. 2 Likes |

chimkaire:Self employment is the real deal. I have a lot of unemployed friends whose parents could fund them with about 50k to 200k but the problem is they don't all want to do petty business. I've been unemployed since 2013. My last trial at Guinness late last year opened my eyes. I wasn't given a job with them after going though their various tests for the position of sales executive. After failing to secure a job with them, I started my own business with about 150k and I repaired an old car we got to transport my goods. Now I am my own sales executive and I have an employee who doesn't do much and I pay him 12k a month and he's just a school cert holder. Now I make cool money much more than Guinness could pay me as a new intake. Infact I am glad it didn't work out with them. I regret not thinking about being self employed much earlier. I feel like I just wasted 2years waiting for that dream job. I didn't mean to bore u with my story but most graduates out there can afford the capital to start something small but we all want to work for a reputable company where we can dress corporately cos that's the dream. Let's learn to start small. With dedication and commitment and prayer, we will get bigger. 5 Likes |

slap1:A journey of a thousand steps begins with one step. Before you learn to fly, you must learn how to walk....you can't fly into flying. Most people think that for you to be self-employed, you must have hundreds of thousands or millions before you can start. But that's not true. You can start from somewhere, no matter how little. I keep saying this, cos I passed thru it and survived, even when no one thought I couldn't. I'd rather be a labourer or driver than collect just 6k in a month. 1 Like |

Bolade005: Many many thanks for sharing your inspiring story with us here. Not only are you self-employed, you are also an EMPLOYER of labour Great! I will only advise that you set your sights on GROWING your business and making it more organised/formal with time by ploughing back as much of your profit and taking on related opportunities for expansion that builds on your current STRENGTHS/competencies.
