Admonition: I really don't like the attitude of my fellow Unilorites toward this debate. We were not represented in the 1st edition, last year because no one showed interest. This year, not less than 5 people nominated themselves but none is here to submit his/her entry now apart my own. Truly, we are in exam period but we can still make things happen. I also didn't have the time, I started the writing yesternite out of my tight schedule just to represent my alma mata. Even the encouragement is not there from our students, though we have a greater percentage on nairaland. Mr tunery004, do u want to join me and be the 2nd representative for our school or is there anyone out that is interested? It's 2 representatives per Institution. Please let's rep our alma mata. We are better by far. |

pseudonomer:You said and I quote ' can the Ijaw, Fulani, Igala, Yoruba and Hausa stand alone' my sentiment is why you didn't mention the Igbos, well, if Kosovo and South Sudan could stand alone, then those aforementioned tribe could. You said poor governance is the source of our problem, I beg to differ, our problem is ZONING and our bias towards ethnicity when we appoint those to lead us. We are so tribalistic that we neglect those with better credentials and appoint mediocre ones because a part of the country must rule. My question is if we continue to elect our leaders based on ZONING, when are we going to get good governance? Good governance will come that moment we all stop being BIGOTS. |

tunery004: Do you really understand this "Nigerians do not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity until their primal sentiments are aroused or their economic or political interests are threatened" ? |

pseudonomer:Yes I do, but can I ask what you mean by primal sentiment? If by primal sentiment you mean sentiments relating to an early stage in evolutionary development, then I can simply summarise your above statement has "Nigerians do not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity until their ethnicity is aroused or their economic or political interest are threatened" |

@Sir Tunery. The root of Nigeria problems lies in bad leadership not religious or ethnic stuff. It's these bad leaders that are dividing Nigeria along ethnic nd religion. |

Champion01:Sir, I respect your opinion but am of a different opinion, as much as I recognise bad leadership as one the problems of Nigeria, the real problem is that we all put our tribes first before Nigeria. Take a survey ask Nigerians 'who are you' and am sure the answers you get are am a yoruba, igbo and even some igbos will tell you some others are 'Osu'. With this understanding in mind, the leader could easily switch on the ethnic card knowing that we all are a calamity waiting to happen in that area. And how do we select our leaders, please review the voting pattern of the last election and you will see that only the southwest showed great unity in their voting pattern., others where along ethnic divide. |
