Hmmm madam I couldn't leave my 3 year old with everything everyone was saying. Too much stress, this and that.... But na me know the kain pikin I born so I kuku carry my certificate with me (over active and has a mind of his own). Meanwhile, I don't have parents and neither does my hubby.
It was very stressful but I had a very fantastic host who was very caring and very accommodating. (My childhood friend). She would take time out and babysit him when I go to the clinic or when I go out and my three days hospital stay she stayed with him for me. I will be forever grateful. However , I have planned to have the 3rd and last in 5 years time so I don't worry about leaving any child behind.
So all my long story is that it's your decision but whichever you choose it won't be easy. Thank God that phase is over.

All you need to do is get in touch with an accredited credential evaluation service and as the name implies they will help evaluate your degrees for higher education or employment purposes. You can then seat for MCAT,GMAT, LSAT, or GRE. I have friends who have successfully completed their Masters degree after having their naija ones evaluated and writing one of these exams. Another is working in a bank after her Degree in banking and finance was evaluated. She is now combining both work and a higher degree. So, my dear you definitely don't have to start from scratch if you don't want to.


The lifestyle and earning power of a nurse in the United States cannot even be compared to that of a Bank Mgr in Nigeria excluding stolen funds of course. Do we even realize how much taxes these people pay compared to the peanuts some pay back home? If we were made to pay for the real value of services in Nigeria the poverty rate would be close to 98%. Let's face the obvious...if Nigeria was better we would not be subjecting ourselves to Insults by overzealous CBP officers at POE. If asked by a consular or Poe officer if you've ever been a public charge or received governmental assistance in the USA, you'll have to admit this truthfully and this may jeopardize your future entry. At your visa interview, you made a representation that you are fully capable to afford the cost of your trip for all members of your family who travelled with you including unborn baby, why go back on your word. And moreover these programs are for residents not visitors. Think about it...the cash value of benefits you'll receive during your short stay is probably no more than $500 in total. Abeg ur God who brought you this far is bigger than that. And just like your user name, our God is too big, too sure, more than some $500 troublemaker assistance...just my humble opinion though.

Lol, is it even up to $500. The WIC card is only use to get milk, cereal and baby food. It can't be use to purchase any other thing.

Like 3 days for innovate to get the money order and another 3 or so days for the embassy depending on what type of mailing envelope you send them.

Just plan ahead of time sha, but it's ultimately cheaper than using an agent.

I'll choose to ignore the passing comment on bankers. Fyi, the banking sector pays more than most sectors in Nigeria except oil and gas and maybe telecom - without stolen funds.

And yes, some of our salaries are comparable to our colleagues in other parts of the world - if not higher in some cases.

And no, not all of us are birthing in US because of your reasons below.

Nigeria is bad, I agree, but US is also not a safe haven, only God will protect us all.

at point of entry in newyork, we got stamped for 6 months. no problems at all. cbp dint as about pregnancy, just asked about money and address of stay.i was having 9800 dollars

he had our first baby in may. before having our baby, i applied for medicaid with social services.
so all the hospital expenses was paid by the medicaid. and we came back to our home country we our US citizen baby

so now my wife is pregnant again
we have 3 years of visa left
and we are going again to US for our second baby

my question is:
will we get into some trouble this time?
at point of entry in jfk newyork, the cbp officer, will there be a red flag in this system or not
i mean : we used the medicaid before, will the cbp officer wil knew about the medicaid

we will be having 13000 dollars with us this time and a pregnant wife and a us citizen child

i ll also pay the medicaid every peny of it.

i dont have a no balance letter from the hospital.
but on hospital website, under online bill payment. by giving patients account number.there is no balance.
it was paid by the medicaid social services.

so i can show the cbp officers at POE online, that i have no balance
its jus tht i am worried about , may be they allready knew that the bill was paid by medicaid.

You just created a huge mess for the family going forward. Even if you are not asked for receipts at POE this time you will definitely be required to show payment receipts during visa renewal/interview . The amount you owed must have been sent to collections and subsequently paid by the American tax paying public.

You just created a huge mess for the family going forward. if by chance you are not asked for receipts at POE this time around you will definitely be required to show full payment during visa renewal/interview phase. The amount you owed must have been sent to collections and subsequently paid by the American tax paying Public. Using Medicaid is a cardinal sin for any visitor and is treated as fraud by the U.S government.
The part that's baffling is the fact that you hadn$9800 and could have made payment and maybe worked out a payment plan if you ran out of funds. You just decided to enjoy what you were not entitled to. Why do we then wonder why Nigerian's are subjected to all sorts of aggressive interviews.

There is nobody at POE or embassy that will believe that you can deliver a baby in the US and come away with a bill of only $2000. So, don't even try lying because you are heading to secondary inspection. Having a US citizen doesn't give you any special privilege or excuse the fact that you used a means tested benefit you were not entitled to.

Bros I have some questions for you;
1. When u went in 2013 were u stamped in B2 on ur passport or B1? If its B1 ,the CBP might not bring up the question of you having ur baby .
2.Have u visited the US again after that time? If yes then what was your experience like at POE.

My candid advice;
Try as much as possible not to go into the US with ur citizen child for now .Your wife should either go alone or both of you should.Hold the receipt for the doctors payment you made just in case you are asked but if you are not asked lucky you.I wish you all the very best .

If u eventually get into the US without hassles try and find out how you can refund the govt the hospital bill that was paid on ur behalf else you might never be able to take ur US child into the US urself.

If you travel with the child to the US, its most likely going to raise a flag and you'd have to answer questions concerning circumstances around the childs delivery vis-a-vis payments.

Your baby will have her own luggage as normal baggage..... my wife flew emirate to Doha, over 2 years now while our daughter was still an infant... she was given normal baggage....

I'm begginning to notice a disturbing pattern here, people register on NL, come straigth to this thread, put forward scenarios that are either illegal or unacceptable, in order to feel other users responses and state of mind.

This information is not correct. An infant/ child under 2 years of age and who has not paid for a seat is only entitled to one piece checked in luggage. It's even clearly stated on Emirates Airlines website. This is as opposed to the 2 piece checked in bag allowance, so by all means not "normal baggage" allowance.

Yeah, make sure it's priority express, it's the $20 prepaid envelope and make sure you get a tracking number and request for a signature upon receipt.

Mine didn't take up to 9 days though.

He can run but cannot hide. He will have to renew the visa one day. So, even if he has a successful POE the day of reckoning will surely come during renewal.

but mind you... no flight is free... your baby will either pay for a service or the other. My wife flew Emirate with our eight months old girl in April 2013. She had her own bad and 7kg hand luggage. While I paid just QR.220 as against her mum of QR. 2900 then. I dont know if the info is not correct now but as of then... very very correct.

But I think their layover fom flight from Nigeria is long for a pregy or a nusing mother..... dts should be the only concern.
