However, every reasonably competent doctor will know severe anaemia or blood loss with lower abdominal or pelvic pain, especially in a young woman, should scream pregnancy - even if the patient denies a history of pregnancy. Appendicitis hardly ever causes severe blood loss. A quick pregnancy test probably would have save her life.

The doctor in question actually made a diagnosis of appendicitis which was a wrong diagnosis.
A patient with abdominal distension,pain,vomiting and bleeding is an emergency case.
In medicine,there is something called "acute abdomen". Acute abdomen requires an urgent attention because any further delay is gonna be dangerous.
The doc should have stabilized her before doing exploratory laparatomy.
This is medical negligence and he has to face the law.
So sad

Different diseases have different ways of manifestation that's why they ask you many questions. The examination is to confirm what they already think, same with the tests (or to differentiate very similar conditions).

Ruptured ectopic may be missed if one relies on patient history alone.
However, that unmistakable pallor with abdominal pain in a woman of child bearing age should always prompt one to probe for ectopic pregnancy.
A Pregnancy test is a fast and simple test.
Ultrasound throws more light.

However, i do not know the full details so i cannot apportion blames.

What do u mean by stabilize her before doing ex lap? A patient that is actively bleeding should be pumped with IV fluid continuously before thoughts of theater?? Are you for real?

What do u mean by medical negligence? The doctors did the possible best. Doctors are not magicians and any doctor treating a patient said to be a virgin for an ectopic pregnancy will be sanctioned anywhere in the world.

If you are truly a doctor, act honorably and stop using slight opportunities to spite colleagues who have done no wrong.
