Hello,

For the DS3053 consent form, the section where the notary public is suppose to fill commission expiry date........ Mine left it blank meaning no expiry date.

Is this ok or can I write not applicable.

It's fine. Mine just ruled a short line accross that column.

Hello, didn't you see where I wrote that Medicaid vary from state to state. I was talking about Texas and CHIp. Thank you

I beg to differ as well. If Medicaid was automatic why do we still have people filling for bankruptcy after having their kids stay in the NICU for months or why all the frustartions on Obamacare and it not being fair to some classes of people. Medicaid as i know it from someone who has done extensive research in 2 different states is that: If you are low income, yes you can file for Medicaid for your kids and at that time it is automatic. If not i wont be paying for insurance for my kids at my job and will use Medicaid for them and save me $ monthly. Everything you need is here: http://www.medicaid.gov/medicaid-chip-program-information/by-topics/eligibility/eligibility.html

So yes if your husband's income is within the income limits specified in the link above the child is eligible for medicaid. The mother however as you correctly stated is not eligible for any assistance unless she is able to adjust her status before childbirth, file for the health insurance and prove that her and her husbands joint income qualifies them for any state or federal health insurance programs.

God Bless!!

So my buddy who lives and works in canada is planning to have her baby in US...
Why is this confusing?
It's not confusing. Even citizen leave USA to have their baby in Canada. I plan to do that as well when am ready. At least when my kids are tired of living in USA , they can go to Canada in peace without obstacles.

Dear all, I have followed this thread from part 1 and must commend all those that have contributed to the wealth of knowledge available here.

Please I am a July mum, initially interested in ATL (northside) but with new interest in MIHS due to the all encompassing maternity payment. Superior advice in this regards would be appreciated especially looking at the difference in flight fares and cost of accommodation.

My visa was obtained early this year, I wasn't asked if pregnant and so I dint disclose either. I have not used the visa but plan to travel in June for birthing purpose (contrary to vacation). Should I still notify the embassy? Cos I noticed most of those who sent the letter had first used the visa for the purpose it was issued before deciding to use it for birthing.

As for POE, should I entertain any fear or not, cos unlike most mamas here, I would be going with hubby, so I'm guessing we shouldn't have much issues.

Finally, destination stated during interview is different from ATL and Phoenix. Do I need to also notify the embassy of this.

Thank you all for your kind responses.

YOur need to hold cash. You can be denied entry at the POE for not holding cash.if u eventually get in for every withdrawal you make. You will be charged 400naira each.

KayLayChi:
Hi Moms, Moms to be and few papas in the house,

I have roughly 6 weeks to port, although i have started feeling home sick cause i have never been apart from my hubby and I am not traveling with my son (he will shuttle between my mom and my mother inlaw, he will be on holidas then).

My main question, I have since bought my PTA $4,000 @ N200 and I also have some other funds. In all I have a total of $6,975 in my dorm account. I plan to buy $25 to make it up to $7000 for POE. I dey fear to buy dollar a@ N222. Also I plan to pay my hospital bill using InterBank (Form A using Medical Travel Allowance) they exchange rate is about N197 - N200

1. Is $7,000 enough for POE?
2. I also plan to print my statement in my naira account and also go with both my VISA and Master cards
3. Has anyone paid their medical bills using Medical Travel Allowance? I plan using this oh, then open a BOA account and save my $7,000 also I plan to shop with my cards.

For those interested in the Medical Travel Allowance, the requirements are;
1. Duly completed Form A
2. Letter of reference from Specialist hospital in Nigeria
3. Ticket, Passport, Valid Visa (Travel documents)
4. Letter from Doctor overseas stating the cost of treatment and account number
5. Instruction letter to debit your account or a cheque.

Please note that the funds will be remitted to the Doctor or Hospitals account directly.

you don't need to withdraw, go to Walmart or Kroger and buy money order, swipe your card for the amount, maximum per money order is $1k I guess, you'll only be charged 79cent. Go to any bank and claim the money or deposit straight to your bank. You can always swipe when making payments

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by Onegai(f): 5:21pm On May 19, 2015
Hi, is there anyone who is a US citizen on this thread, having their baby abroad? Yes, I could have stayed in Nigeria to have that child, but I'm very concerned about Nigeria's healthcare system (I went to a private hospital in Lagos for ante-natal, I know my blood group is ABneg, the consultant OBs know I am ABneg, no-one has mentioned Rhogan, even though I know my hubby is a positive Blood group. They prescribed me Lexotan for lack of sleep, I had to refuse to take it because it is a Class D drug, then they offered me overnight admission for N80,000. They keep telling me "all is well" and I don't want to find out the hard way I have medical issues, so I decided to travel).

So, any other US citizens here already? I know our case is different (no insurance company will touch you if you're not working in the US and they tell you to go to Medicaid straight up).

As for healthcare practises, I've learnt a lot here smiley . I will add that for Ohio, you can register directly at the hospital (as opposed to finding an OB and being referred to a hospital. I think it's the same for some hospitals in TEXAS, as my family friend is a neonatal surgeon there and she said the same).
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by Happymum: 5:30pm On May 19, 2015
Hi everyone. Please I need urgent help from phoenix mum's. I am wondering if it will be possible to pay my hospital bills with my master card and if there will be extra charges. I am due to arrive next month and with the current 222 to a dollar, I am thinking of buying from fcmb@200 for my mum,my husband and I then putting naira in my card for the hospital bill.
Thanks
