theSpark: ok, honestly we shd specialize and use comparative and absolute advantage principle to determine the rest . For example, Nigeria shd nt import most agro products rather improve our value chain to process dem here like rice and cassava flour cos we ve d absolute advantage over most countries just dat its still latent. |

They also shouldn't try to force the naira to depreciate or appreciate until oil prices stabilize. |
Re: NYSC 2015 Batch B House by hilsocial(m): 10:40pm On May 18, 2015 |
theSpark: oil price fall cld ve been an advatage if we had diversified our economy during oil boom. Devaluation could ve been helpful if dia is global boom but its not cos many countries ve challenges now too. |

theSpark:. . How will u whittle down the influence of the dollar? I don't know what the argument is all about..... But that very process will warrant a direct submissiveness of our entire crude oil to America... That alone can influence the Nigerian currency! |

Like I was sharing a view with a friend... Nigeria will suffer more if we don't fall back to the Agricultural production and supply as to when 2dollars was made to equal to a naira coin... . . Again, like what China is doing, Nigeria should try as much as possible to tell our foreign suppliers of goods (e.g electronics) to build their factories as well as to employ a certain number of Nigerians to work directly with them.... . . China supply us with Techno phones and other products... If a branch of their factory (for production NOT Assembling factory) is built in Nigeria...and many of our youths are employed... Before the company folds....we'll be able to produce mobile phones as well... . . We need to delve into technology in other to make proper use of our natural resource. . . Again, our steel factory is just a waste... Where russia is producing guns and other weapons and be selling it to Irag and other countries undergoing civil wars and be making money.... Nigeria is wasting theirs and be looting money all in the name of revamping the factory! . . What is the country planning for its younger generation? |

foxxynik: Whittling down the influence of the dollar: by this I mean control the excessive dollarization of our economy. Eg banning paying rents, hotel fees, school fees in dollars. |

Re: NYSC 2015 Batch B House by hilsocial(m): 6:50am On May 19, 2015 |
foxxynik: You ve a very good idea of what we need but we in Nigeria again is high cost of production and high cost of marketing due to probably power failure and decayed transportation infrastructure respective . So govt shd address what makes up producer cost esp public goods cos companies pay tax and high producer cost discourages SME which is most employer of labour. Without dat addressed companies will still move to oda countries with favourable production ambience and ship to our country where dia is large market and sell. |
Re: NYSC 2015 Batch B House by hilsocial(m): 7:02am On May 19, 2015 |
foxxynik: You are right bro. Dia is so much dollar demand already , if we do as said it will probably halve the demand. For any economy to develop and be self suffcient they must not depend on international trade to provide their necessaries. And here are we importing crude oil that has so much multipliers effect on d economy . You are absolutely right. |

theSpark:. . That will be very difficult per se...knowing fully well that our currency isn't worldly recognised. As it stand... The world Bank does not include transaction with our currency! Not even direct exchange! If the world bank could recognise our currency, then... The above listed process will be done... Within the country, I could tell that the level at which ppl buy or rent with dollars is very minimal. . . I understand with u very well...and I stand to share ur point of view... But I believe... Our politicians know what to do... But greed won't let them! |
Re: NYSC 2015 Batch B House by hilsocial(m): 7:21am On May 19, 2015 |
theSpark: I agree . On border issue, i dont understand our country dia. By d mere fact dat pple movely easily in and out of Nig is enough to sabotage planning . As the largest economy most african countries around Nig may take us as dia US so when we are busy planning for 164 million pple we may be 200million. Dat is y u always hear of budget deficit esp because still provides merit goods like petrol and health care so our borders shd be policed well. Imigration shd hv repatriated many pple by now if we ve good identification database and borders. Many pple today contesting for positions are not Nigerians. |

hilsocial:. . GBAM!!!! . . And i keep asking one question, Why did we ever stop to make use of our refineries? . Why can't we build a new functioning refinery? Atleast to curtail the expenses! |
Re: NYSC 2015 Batch B House by hilsocial(m): 7:25am On May 19, 2015 |

Re: NYSC 2015 Batch B House by Nobody: 7:29am On May 19, 2015 |
hilsocial:. . Ofcoz, power failure is a turn off for any company who's willing to establish its factory here.... Weren't our government supposed to do something about it? Weren't this country supposed to be having a steady power supply? Is the country not rich enough to have all that it takes to influence its investors? . . Is our government doing anything at all in the development of this country? When we can't even brag of a 24hours power supply? |
Re: NYSC 2015 Batch B House by Nobody: 7:34am On May 19, 2015 |
hilsocial:. . Exactly, finished goods.... Where foreign investors will beg to trade with us.... |
Re: NYSC 2015 Batch B House by hilsocial(m): 7:37am On May 19, 2015 |
foxxynik: I know u must ve hrd abt d oil cabals. It takes only a courageous and incorruptible president to revilve our dilapitated refineries. Just like some pple feed frm our disgraceful power sector some oda enjoy d nature of oil sector now. |
Re: NYSC 2015 Batch B House by hilsocial(m): 7:42am On May 19, 2015 |
foxxynik: I smtimes ask des questions too. No one to reply bro. If we can boast of 12hrs steady power supply wia u gv power to commercial areas during d day and residential areas at 9t and use solar for hospitals, schs and adminstrative places we will achieve alot. |
Re: NYSC 2015 Batch B House by hilsocial(m): 7:45am On May 19, 2015 |
