anyway, i dnt think there is cure for that coz my brother has bn living wt it since 2 years nw.

There's nothing to worry about. It's not the end of life.
It may lead health issues like inflamation of the liver or liver cancer if not properly taken care of?

Be careful with nigerian doctors they dont know much. They will only bambuse you with grammar.

(1) Dont Rush to Take any drug for now.
(2) Go for Liver Function Tests,HBV DNA it's available at Nigerian Institute of Medical Research or PathCare,V/I, lagos.
Fibroscan is needed too know if there's any damage to your liver. This is not available in Nigeria

(3) Your status will help you determine the next step.

i was diagnosed with hepatitis B in 2008.i tried treatment with several doctors but it was futile.eventually i met a lady doctor who placed my a diet along with a few drugs for 6 months.after 3months,the test showed the virus was non-reactive after the 6ymonths,the test was negative.after 1 year,the test still showed negative and remains so.she toldme i was the second case she treated with that particular regimen.two of the drugs are available in any pharmacy,livolin and immunace.the third,methionine isnt registered by nafdac and isnt readily available.she had to order it through some contacts abroad.i dont know if its now available.the most important part is the diet.you have to stay away from everything that contains oil.no milk,meat,fish,etc.take lots of water and fruits.i dont recommend the treatment,am just stating what treatment i was given.consult your doctor for more advice

I was diagnosed in 2009. Still living with it and following research the world over. I wrote an article in Punch newspaper few months back lamenting poor knowledge about HepB in Nigeria. I also just finished writing another one yesterday.

Hepatitis is very endemic in Nigeria - 20million, meaning 1 out of every 7 Nigerians has it. The global rate is about 500million. It doesn't have cure yet, but researches are at advanced stage, and 2 drugs are on clinical trial already and possibly there should be cure in the next 3-5 years.

Good thing is it can be well-managed.

No cure for Hepatitis yet, but there is chance(less than 5%) of it clearing itself.

Maybe what you had was acute Hepatitis, which is only temporary and clears unlike chronic, or your doctor mistook the viral load becoming undetectable(which is very common with drugs like interferon) with clearing. Having undetectable viral load doesn't mean you have cleared it o. 2008, pls go do another test o

You can however be fortunate to be among the less than 5%(I believe it's less than 1% actually) that clear the virus.

hepatitiis B can lead to chronic liver disease oo.

Treatment depends on how active the virus is in your body and your chance of liver damage. The goal of treatment is to stop liver damage by keeping the virus from multiplying. that should be the goal of any doctor you are seeing.
antiviral can be given if the virus is active, abeg see your doctor regularly,. He or she will do blood tests to check your liver and the activity of the hepatitis B virus in your body.

Some of the tests can find out whether the virus is multiplying in your liver, which would increase your risk of liver damage.
If you develop advanced liver damage and your condition becomes life-threatening, you may need a liver transplant. But not everyone is a good candidate for a liver transplant.

you can survive it, i know people that have dealt with it in the past. sometimes you might feel nausea or dehydrated and thats one reason why you need to keep seeing your doctor regularly so as to take fluids.
