Here is the problem:
A friend inherited a sizeable sum of money and decided to "save" it by renting an office space in a bustling area in lkeja, Allen Avenue, to be specific.
The office space is standard and will be fitted with AC units. Total cost of securing and the space and giving it a face lift, was in excess of #1.5.
Now the rent is already counting (since March) and he is yet to start off.
Please, kindly drop suggestions in something profitable and standardized which he can start right away. He is business-inclined and would favor any legitimate business.
l have received very valuable advice from NL before and am confident this time wont be an exception.

Why will anyone rent an office without idea of what business he wants to do?

Your friend made a very unwise move, getting space before even knowing what he wanted to do. He should consider sub-letting right away to smaller businesses, if there's no clause in his agreement against this.

That was hasty Mr. That N1.5m or thereabout could have secured a cheap plot of land in Lagos suburbs, such as Otta in Ogun State. Landed properties acquisition is the way forward for anyone interested in hitting his first multimillion naira within 5-10years.

But since this rented office is in Allen Avenue, there is almost a mad rush to have office space in Allen Avenue, so you can sublet it to someone with clearer ideas of what to do in Allen Avenue. If you lose your money, which you stand the high chance of (due to your rash decision of putting the cart before the horse), it will qualify for a business education you will never learn any where in the world. Surely, not with just the theories being taught at Harvard Business School.

So either way (whether you recoup your investment or not), you win; because it seems to me you just paid a sum of N1.5m for a first hand invaluable business education on risk assesment and business planning. This education will stick better than whatever they will teach you at HBS. Cheers, Mr softwhispers. You are in for greatness already.
