I'm a big supporter of Buhari's and as that, I advice him to strongly distance himself from the Americans. Nothing good ever comes out of associating with the Americans, they give you with 1 hand and collect with 50 hands. They usually never give a shit about you cos they're only 100% in for their own interests and none of yours.....especially in the long term run. America is an ally of ours,no doubt...but let us eat with them with a very very long spoon and never trust them.

God Bless Nigeria.

The U.S. Would like someone who can do their bidding to be installed as petroleum minister. But they must understand that Buhari is not a puppet and they had better tread with caution or risk losing whatever is left of their ties with nigeria

You advice USA to be cautiuous else it loses its remaining ties with Nigeria? You are ridiculous. For USA , Nigeria is like a beggar country.

When will US learn that Nigeria is sovereign nation and has the right for self determination and therefore not welcome in the handling of Nigeria's internal affairs.

This has been stated in clear terms in different fora and yet US in herself acclaim world power has refused to get the message.

I hereby state unambiguously that US is an enemy of Nigeria and as such should stay away from the affairs of Nigeria, else.........

That is an absolute mendacity. Guy, u are quite not conversant of how usa view Nigeria. They are really afraid of nigeria developing. They see it as a threat. They are looking for way to cause trouble and make her begging, thereby, take control and have power over it.

Same way their delegates/observers for the just concluded 2015 election, expressed So much interest at the outcome of River state cum Akwaibom to the extent of suggesting anullment of elections in the aforementioned states. Now the suspicion has become more obvious that there's more to their actions.

We are in one chance govt of APC. When Obama took over power from George Bush did any African country suggested, nominated or impose any candidate on him. We have to really be wary of another era of Neo-colonialism from all these so call world powers. May be U,K. Our real colonial master will suggest the Minister for Finance for Buhari govt.If this happens Nigeria is no longer operating democracy. Democracy in all its ramifications abhors external interefernce in governance. This why it is government of the people, by the people and for the people not for USA. Abacha, Obasanjo and GEJ did not accept any unwholesome imposition from external bodies, so Buhari must stand his ground when he takes over. Is this all their support and monitoring during the election all about?OIL. Any foreign imposition on our govt is totally unacceptable. If you like don't grant me visa if I apply for.

xmich:
Ahead of the May 29 handover of the Federal
Government administration to Muhammadu
Buhari following his victory at the March 28
polls, friendly countries have continued to show
renewed interest in who occupies some key
posts in the incoming administration.

Already US had expressed concern over series of
issues including human rights abuses by the
Nigerian military in its prosecution of the war in
the North-east, and the manner top officials of
the Nigerian government have managed the oil
and gas sector of the economy citing several acts
of corruption.

A source in the Foreign Ministry which pleaded
anonymity said the US is now eager to assist
Buhari turn the situation around, as it has always
considered Nigeria an important ally on the
African continent.

This was as Daily Sun learnt
that several highly placed persons and
multinational companies who attended a recent
US State Department briefing cited corruption as
the main reason for low investment in Nigeria’s
oil sector. Against this background, a source said
the US is backing a senior official of a multi-
national oil company from the Niger Delta who
is conversant with transparency rules to emerge
as the Petroleum Minister.

The source said, “in fact, the multinationals have
discussed with the US State Department and
have already agreed on a credible candidate,
who they believe will be able to restore
confidence and attract the necessary investment
into the critical sector.
Meanwhile sources say
the US has already made this position known to
the incoming administration cautioning the
president-elect against making a wrong choice in
the appointment to the office.

It urged the President to appoint people of
integrity and proven track record into his
cabinet to make the job easier for him.

Already,
top oil and gas industry operators have indicated
their support for the candidate, who they believe
will bring his vast experience to bear in the
turnaround of the Ministry and give credibility
to the sector and the Buhari’s “Change” mantra.
In 2014, Transparency International ranked
Nigeria as the 136th most corrupt country in
the world.

In addition, a US report in March last
year said that in Nigeria, “massive, widespread
and pervasive corruption affected all levels of
government and the security forces,” while
alleging that judges were not left out of the
massive corruption ring, the report accused the
government of not implementing laws on
corruption effectively, thus deliberately allowing
“officials (to) frequently engage in corrupt
practices with impunity.”

These are, possibly, part of what the Speaker of
the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal,
saw when he cried out that the current
administration’s “body language” encouraged
corruption. The US government had also
condemned the pardon granted some ex-
convicts by the National Council of States
headed by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2013.

Recall that former Governor of Bayelsa State,
Diepreiye Alamieyeseigha, the former head of the
Bank of the North, Shettima Bulama and some
other Nigerians were granted a presidential
pardon. The US had roundly condemned the act,
saying, “this decision undermines anti-corruption
efforts in Nigeria and encourages impunity.
If
the government is serious about uprooting
public corruption, sanctions against those who
betray the public trust should be strengthened,
not relaxed,” said Akere Muna, Vice-chair of
Transparency International.

And now the US has sounded a note of caution
to President-elect, Buhari, not to bow to
pressure by allowing politicians foster any
candidate for the Petroleum Ministry whose
records are stained or for purpose of satisfying
political patronage.

According to the US, it will send the wrong signal
that business is going to continue as usual, in
which case, the incoming president might not
get the much needed assistance from the US or
any European country for that matter.

Shebi they will also stop drilling more shale oil which has eliminated Nigeria's oil exports to US and created our economic troubles.
American advise is like your competitor in a soccer match telling you who to use in your team? Can this be considered a well intentioned advise?

We need no caution.. many thanks. So oil price dropped with a prediction that there may be war in Nigeria after the elections and so, decrease in production output which would directly lead to an increase in price.... say over 150 dolls per barrels as it was the case with Libya. We all know it's politics. Buhari has said he would regulate oil price... simple. let's see how he wants to do the magic.

No Nigerian government should allow another foreign government, especially USA, to decide its domestic or foreign policy. America refused to sell weapons to Nigeria to fight Boko Haram because of alleged human rights' violations by the Nigerian Army. Yet, America couldn't careless as Saudi Army is bombing innocent towns and cities of Yemen, killing thousands plus civilians with American weapons and aircrafts. The same US whose troops committed so many atrocities in Iraq and Afghanistan. Talk of a pot calling the kettle black!

The same America that complains of human rights has locked up thousands in Gitmo, Cuba, without trial for decades. America supplies Israel weapons and war planes which are being used to kill innocent Palestinian kids, women, old and young people alike - against a people that has no Army, no air force, no navy etc.

America is supplying the worst governments under the sun with lethal weaponry without qualms. The Saudi Kingdom has world records for human-beheading, chopping off of arms and limbs. Egypt has world records for show trials and mass-sentencing of hundreds of people to death for protesting or belonging to opposition political party. APC should be weary of fair-weather friends!

What credentials has USA to preach human rights to Nigeria? The truth is that USA would rather wish Nigeria were a failed State and that Boko Haram were in the ascendancy.

The Minister of oil should not be any CIA operative in disguise nor does he or she have to come from a particular region of Nigeria but suffices it that he or she is a Nigerian.
