i feel sorry for most 2.2 and 3rd class graduates in Nigeria. in developed countries, most don't even care what you graduate with as long as you have experience, enter through trainee or apprenticeship programs 1 Like 1 Share |

why people talk about 2.2 at if one is dull or weak... I graduated with 3.39/5.00 CGPA my trouble can be traced back to my 200 level days when I decided to stay with a diploma friend living off campus. It's all fun but I can't deny the fact that it really affected me beside I have never seen myself as weak or in anyway dull. Abeg one thing or the other can lead to 2.2 grade 7 Likes |

My Opinion: I don't think there's a discrimination on degree grades by some employers, just that they are only trying to manage and control the number of applicants for some jobs in that 2.2 has the highest no of persons with such grade but with 2.1 or first class, they would end up shortlisting and controlling the application. My major concern is the age thing but then afffidavit does the magic 2 Likes |

I don't know why someone will make a write up to encourage people to graduate with 3rd class, so unfortunate. 1 Like |

Dubemkelly:this is not an excuse.. technology has made things easy.. u can easily prepare an online test for thousands of people and get the result after few minutes.. so forget the number of applicants being an issue.. there is discrimination, they assume the first class are better than 2:1, 2:1 are better than 2:2, 2:2 are better than 3rd class.. which is not always the case.. a lot of factors can lead u to make a low grade while in school and it doesn't determine your intellectual standard 3 Likes |

haibe:you have also spoken well, but online test alone for 2.1 and above puts a lot of pressure on the company server. Thousands of such graduates take the test and in most cases the server starts misbehaving and applicants find it difficult to log in, complete the test and summit. If you add 2.2 and 3rd class the server might crash. Also you should know most company don't have the capacity to conduct online test, they are usually out sourced to recruitment firm. So if they add 2.2 and 3rd class, they would pay the recruitment firm much more money to conduct test for multitude. 4 Likes 1 Share |

phyllosilicate: a friend of mine did a test recently in Birmingham, England.. it was scheduled for a week, he did his in the third day, there were lots of applicants. If as a huge organisation, you cannot get a stable server for less than 100,000 people, at least make the online tests in batches.. I wonder what you will say about the millions of people that log into Facebook and twitter every minute. 1 Like |

True about the factors which could drop one's grade. In my own case for instance, i was made to carry a 3 unit course for 3 years. A course i had passed and only had the test recorded for me and a friend of mine. We rectified but to no avail. Thank God for my smartness, I was still able to graduate with 2.1 only my friend wasn't so lucky, she had 2.2. I'm certain she would have made 2.1 if not for that trash. Maybe I might have made a first-class too. Who knows? |

haibe:will I call this paradox or what now. You can't tell me you want something without putting effort to get it. I ll take it as this class of people are living in delusion. There is a difference between wish and want. Now it is a "tougher discrimination ", some companies check the CGPA even as it is a 2 1. |
