Nice one op, But try to show us the making of the machines used to making the aeroplanes if you can. The African problem is not in the making of everything the caucasian or japanese make, but how to process raw materials ourselves and how to manufacture equipments that is used to manufacturing the products and equipments for maintaining and servicing them. |

Hmph. Nobody was losing sleep over this. Vehicular machines are built largely the same: CAD, composites, steel, CNC, fabs, moulds etc. Im less concerned about how planes are MADE, and more with how the darn things FLY. for tje record, i know all about thrust, air flow, bernoulli, aerodynamics, control surfaces, etc. But human flight will always remain magical. And magnets too. How do they work? |

tuoyoojo: You will be surprise to know that most of them are not Bsc engineers but just technicians/ craft men, trained specifically to do those jobs. Plane engines are mostly Roll Royce turbine engines and my own job which the skills I acquired through training is to maintain Roll Royce turbine engines for power generation not different from aero plane engines. I tell you what I only acquired my Bsc after years of working just to feel among. But I am really comfortable. Nigeria need to concentrate on technical education. 7 Likes |

This is one of the best posts I've seen on nairaland. Such an enlightening and inspiring read! Unlike these posts on sex, media, bad news and just plain rubbish, we see a wonderful post! Industrial/production engineering(mechanical) really rocks. I beg to ask...why can't we do this in Nigeria? Engineers and Engineering students in this forum, what is stopping us from coming together and finding ways of building these things rather than import old planes that are endangering the precious lives of Nigerians? What's the big deal? I want to be part of those that will gear this country towards greater advancement in Technology and Development. We all need to be part of this big dream. Nigerians can do better. We can. Let us remove all these division based on religious and ethnic lines that are killing us. We are one and together Nigeria can do much better than this! |
