In summary, this is the "fresh breath" that uncle jonah promised us during 2011 election. And am too sure that majority of those who are complaining now, voted for the fresh breath. Kindly endure and enjoy while it last. Sai Buhari 44 Likes 3 Shares |

swimcash: Not exactly....the cabal benefit from fuel subsidy removal more...they will be able to sell fuel at much higher prices....meaning higher profits than whatever they are getting now. The reason why Nigeria has not removed subsidy is because most Nigerians are living below the poverty line...and see subsidy as the only good thing they get from the government. Forget the fact that it is not sustainable at all...even with high oil prices...Nigerians prefer cheap fuel. And let's be frank...once subsidy goes...fuel prices jump....which means foodstuff prices and transport prices jump. In other words...it would be like the early days of MTN/ECONET/ETC...when one sim could cost you thousands of naira....before prices went down thanks to competition. But most Nigerians...including you....do not see that. You want your cheap oil. And that puts pressure on marketers...who under subsidy end up earning little or zero profit. So it is either they risk the wrath of the DPR...and sell fuel at high prices from N110 and above....or they inflate the amount of fuel they import...and pocket the difference...while importing less than they asked for. I know some marketers are corrupt...but they are businesspeople...who are not running charities. When we had high oil revenues....we could afford subsidies. But now we cannot thanks to the drop in international oil prices. This means no kudi for the treasury...the same treasury that we use to pay for subsidies. That is the main reason why subsidy must go. The money is finished. Oil prices will never reach above $100 again. And Nigeria has too many people. The only solution we have now is industries. 7 Likes 1 Share |
