Are you real on the bolded statement? Nigerians are full of it indeed.

why shouldn't they be scared u think a player the caliber of Oshoala comes by every other year? Plus we have a good team with good individual's. If we lose nobody would lose sleep but if the uswnt loses it would be big news so the pressure is automatically on them not us.

The Falcons earned their first-ever WC points at the 5th attempt, when they played out a 3-3 draw with Canada in the 2nd group B match at the 1995 tournament.

Rita Nwadike had the honor of scoring Nigeria's first-ever goal in a senior Women's World Cup, scoring in the same match.

Nigerians should, at least, learn how to reach to the semi-final stage of women world cup competition before contemplating who is scared of them. Acts of loudmouth lead to colossal failures.

9 different players have scored World Cup goals for the Super Falcons. They are:

Rita Nwadike and Nkiru Okosieme (3 WC goals each)

Mercy Akide and Okoroafor (2 WC goals each)

Patience Avre, Prisca Emeafu, Nkechi Egbe, Cynthia Uwak, and Perpetua Nkwocha (1 WC goal each)

Nwadike (2 goals in 1995), Nkiru Okosieme (2 goals in 1999), and Akide (2 goals in 1999) scored the most goals in a single tourney.

Both Florence Omagbemi and Maureen Mmadu have been part of a record 4 WC squads each.

Former captain, Omagbemi is still the only Nigerian to have played in 4 tournaments, while Mmadu played in 3 tournaments (1995, 2003, 2007).

Mmadu was part of the 1999 squad, but she was an unused substitute.

Jo Bonfrere (Netherlands) is the only foreign coach to have coached the team at a WC or Olympics. He was the head coach at the 1991 tournament.

This competition is not based on the past as of now we have a great team. Over the past two years these women have proved to be very dependable bringing joy into the homes of Nigerians so why shouldn't we repay them with our support and confidence?

Nwabuoku Confident Ahead of World Cup.
Super Falcons skipper Evelyn Nwabuoku is in buoyant mood as the team continue their build up to the FIFA 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada.
The Falcons are currently in Toronto preparing for the tournament which will see them play the United States, Sweden and Australia in the group stage.
Nwabuoku told supersport.comthat the girls are getting down to their paces and cannot wait for the tournament to start.
“We are getting set for the tournament as we are preparing hard and are focused on the business ahead,” the Biik Kazygurt of Kazakhstan player said.
“The girls know what is at stake and will definitely give their best when the tournament starts.”
Nigeria will start the tournament with a crunch game against European powerhouse, Sweden, on June 8 at the Winnipeg Stadium in Winnipeg and will be looking to surpass the quarterfinal feat of 1999 when Nigeria lost to Brazil in that unforgettable game coming from 3-0 down to tie the game at 3-3 before losing 4-3 in extra time through a Sissi golden goal.Nwabuoku wants the current squad to beat that feat and go all the way to show that African and Nigerian women’s football can be a force to reckon with.
“I want us to surpass previous outings first, that’s the first objective,” the Falcons skipper revealed.
“After that we want the world to see women Nigerian players as a force to reckon with by playing good and attractive football.”
Nigeria are in Group D of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup which starts on June 6, 2015.

Most Nigerians are very funny and illogical. Please be advised that great teams are not made on paper. It is a border line insanity to insinuate that a team such as USWNT is afraid of Nigerian Falcons. What exactly did the Falcons win in the last two years to instigate a reasonable person to conclude that USWNT is afraid of the Nigerian Falcons? USWNT just won the CONCACAF which qualified them to play in FIFA 2015 Canada. In addition, USWNT won the highly competitive Algarve Cup mostly competed by the teams heading to Canada. The team defeated Mexico 5-1 in a recent friendly match. Yet Mexico is also a qualifier to 2015 Canada tournament. I guess you realized that repayment with support and confidence does not include reckless comments about your team’s opponents.

How was the comment reckless? Did he say we would beat them by 5 goals? all he said was we also have a strong team, can you dispute that? For the last 6 years we made it to the semi finals of the U-20s and this team is filled with those players we also have experience at this level and if that isn't enough we also have the hottest player in the world. Yes they won CONCACAF but we also won our AFCON so I see no reason for that statement to be retracted infact i also stand by it.

It is a borderline insult to say that a potential opponent in any competition is afraid of you or your team. Nigerian Falcons have not won anything recently to warrant such dumb outburst ahead of tough competition such as World Cup. This being said though does not mean Nigerian Falcons are not capable of defeating USWNT or any team in the tournament. However, people say modesty is the color of virtue. The test of the pudding is in the eating. I support Nigerian Falcons but have confidence.

So with d array of stars in our attack we still couldn't score a goal? If we can't score against Canada, what will happen against US or Sweden?

Well let me wait 4 d team sheet b4 I judge.

I would say most of the players were still feeling a little jet-lagged, which may have affected their performance. And Okon may have used his 'B' team to play the scrimmage.

Is this a good omen?

Canada’s women’s soccer team kept a duo of strong Nigerian strikers at bay but did little else during a scoreless draw against the African team on Monday, their first since returning to home soil ahead of June’s Women’s World Cup.

“We had a good fifteen minutes, and that’s about it really,” said coach John Herdman following the match, which saw the Canadians battle not only the Nigerian’s unfamiliar man-marking system but a blustering wind during the game at TFC’s training facility at Downsview Park.

The Nigerians are a tournament dark horse. Lead by forwards Desire Oparanozie and Asisat Oshoala, the Super Falcons will compete in Group D with the Americans, Australia and Sweden. It’s deemed this year’s “Group of Death.”

They also are a coach’s nightmare because of their alien man-to-man style of play, said Herdman, who oscillated between a high perch atop a parked scissor lift and his regular position on the sidelines during Monday’s game.

Setting up the training match, which saw every uninjured Canadian player on the pitch over the four quarters, was a tactical move, said the Englishman.

“We could’ve went in for a European team with a nice zonal system, but said we were going to thrown the cat among the pigeons and put them in against man-markers and a direct team.”

The Nigerians were the first to register a shot on net early in the first half, when a shot from forty yards out ricocheted off Karina LeBlanc’s crossbar.

It was Canadian midfielder Sophie Schmidt who had the most — and arguably best — of her team’s chances. A free kick in the first half banged off the crossbar, while a low shot following a driving run into the 18-yard box hit outside of the left post and into the side netting, early in the second half.

King City-born Adriana Leon, who will participate in her first senior World Cup come June 6, nearly directed a glancing header into the bottom left corner late in the game, but fellow striker Christine Sinclair couldn’t capitalize on a slight fumble by the Nigerian ’keeper.

The Super Falcons are one of the most physical teams Kadeisha Buchanan has ever faced, the central defender said following the match.

Buchanan, one of the only Canadian players to feature for the full 90 minutes Monday, is familiar with Nigeria’s striker Oshoala. Both played in the 2014 under-20 World Cup in Canada last year, though they didn’t face each other. Germany defeated the Canadians in the quarter-finals before besting Nigeria 1-0 to hoist the trophy.

Buchanan said she shadowed the forward, who won both the Golden Ball and the Golden Boot award at last year’s tournament, and was happy the team was able to keep her off the scoresheet Monday.

It’s one of the only pluses Canada can take from the match, though Herdman said he was comfortable with the performance and did praise the team’s physicality.

Now the focus turns to nursing some new injuries back to health ahead of the friendly match against sixth-ranked England in Hamilton on Friday.

Right-backs Rhian Wilkinson and Marie-Eve Nault were both out injured Monday, as was striker Jonelle Filigno, who broke her nose while training down south last week. Midifielder Diana Matheson, who tore her ACL last fall before breaking her foot in March, did not dress.

England’s zonal defence will make for a more conventional match later this week, Herdman said.

“They’ll be on this blade of grass when the ball’s here, on this blade of grass when the ball’s there. It’s a lot more predictable, and that’s what we train for.”

Super Falcons held the senior national team of Canada to a goalless draw in their first friendly game of the training tour.

Both teams started the game by sizing up each other but it took Falcons about 8 minutes to settle into the game. The girls played a more coordinated style but were not able to score as Oparanozie and Asisat came close in the 23rd and 30th minute but could not find the back of the net in the first half. The second half resumed with Falcons continuing their dominance but the very windy weather was not in favor of the girls as it ended 0-0 after 90 minutes.

After the match coach Okon said: "This match is a good one for us because this is a grade A friendly. If we can play the host team like this, then there is no side we cannot play. Talking about this match, the wind was against us but that is not an excuse as we missed so many scoring chances. They didn't have as much scoring chances as we did but then it's a good for us because we used it to assess and test our players,"

Continuing he said: "Generally the girls played well; we will go back to the drawing board to see how to correct the lapses noticed before our next friendly game. It was a good game for us."

Team Captain, Evelyn Nwabuoku also expressed optimism and promised the girls will improve on their finishing. "This is our first grade A match so far and it wasn't a bad one. Though we lost some scoring chances which would have made us win the game but we thank God for the draw because this is our first game. We will try to improve on our finishing in our subsequent matches" Evelyn said.

Super Falcons will next play WoodBridge Female Football Club on May 28th in their second text match of the training tour.

Team list against Canada:

Precious Dede, Osinachi Ohale (Ugo Njoku 73') , Ngozi Ebere ,Josephine Chukwunonye, Onome Ebi, Evelyn Nwabuoku, Halimat Ayinde (Cecilia Nku 60'), Asisat Oshoala , Ngozi Okobi (Pepetual Nkwocha 74') Francisca Ordega, Desire Oparanozie(Iniabasi Umotong 85')
