Nailed It by byrron(m): 4:38pm You think the politicians have any regard for you? That is why I referred to the arrogance of your ignorance at the beginning of this diatribe. You have a false estimation of yourself. You have an over bloated ego. You are only as good as an election ticket- pure and simple. You are only good to used and discarded like a used ballot paper. Who keeps a used ballot paper anyway? That is why they only remember you every four years. You are like a menstrual pad that is only useful during the menstrual period. HOPE IT'S CLEAR? |

I hate when people generalize people into categories just to suit their point of view. Poverty in Nigeria is a serious case and it doesn't just exist at the youth level alone. In the article I see references to a few Nigerians that made it out of the poverty due to God, luck and hard work but for every 1 of them, I can count a 1,000 who failed, it's not that God was not their side nor were they cursed or lazy but when you put people into unfavorable circumstances and expect them to excel then the probability of success is very low. Based on the article, one would suggest Nigerian youths are the laziest in the world but if you've seen what I've seen you might just bite your tongue and have a rethink. Come to America and I'll show you rotten youths, youths hooked on drugs, youths obsessed with gang related activities and so on, the statistic is alarming! One would easily abandon such youths and tag them as failures but the American society operates on a different level, it is a society which believes that people can be redeemed if equipped with proper elements not only for survival but for long term success. From education to healthcare, no matter the amount of debt, youths are given chances upon chances to succeed. Now Mr. Bayo, can the same be said of the Nigerian society? Let's forget about the government, what about the private sector? What have they done to redeem the Nigerian youth? What about celebrities? What have they done to help the common man? Before we condemn our youths, let's ask ourselves what we've done to make the situation better! 10 Likes 2 Shares |

I've always believed it can be Nigerians who solve problems for themselves, for the entire country on a grander scale, but maybe a niche business for themselves as well... however I take care to see who is delivering such criticism of the younger generation to do better. Lets not ignore that the challenges youth are facing are likely linked to a worthless older generation who handed their younger generation an immensely difficult set of circumstances and are now demanding they make something out of a far worse scenario.. "here, fix yourselves and Nigerian (which we've continued to screw up for generations)" Sadly the young generation will have to. But lets not supplement the needful with a pep talk only. Lets not forget that for there to be a top, there must be people at the bottom--it's a society we continue to promote while foolishly convincing everyone they can be at the top. |

joseph1832: I don't know what your definition of an established individual is and your criteria for measuring such and I hope you don't really expect me to go on blabbing about being a millionaire and all those stuffs but since you asked based on curiosity then my response will not be based on curiosity rather it will be with all sense of modesty and humility. I am not a billionaire but i am comfortable in my own right and can humbly say i'm better than millions of people out there in all ramifications and for that i am most grateful to the universal sovereign for all his blessings upon all my endeavors. I can afford the basic things that makes life worth living for myself and my household and that is the basics for everyone. Though i am not obligated to answer the other questions you asked me because they are very personal and overreaching but since it is also hinged on curiosity then i will oblige you again. I work for an IT Firm and at the same time run my private business which is also related to my work and these are what i do with my time. I am no Steve Jobs nor Bill Gates but i have tapped from the streams of opportunities from these innovators to provide services which are in high demand. Im proud to say i have utilized my time wisely and i'm doing just fine. Satisfying your curiosity has really being a great pleasure. |

A well crafted diatribe meant for the prodigal sons on the social media who feel it's unproductive enquiring for better understanding of a particular issue when political statements are made. It's disheartening to note that instead of using the scarce and meagre resources at their disposal to salvage their situations and give themselves a life and future, they end up criticizing what they are entirely ignorant of using poor English and blaming GEJ for poor communicating skills. |

joseph1832: Pls can u specifically show to me were I made a generalized comment? I extracted some valid assertions from the writers article and posted it so were is the generalization in that post? When I say I dedicate it to all pdp and apc online ranters simply means that there are some party faithfuls that rants which does not imply that all party faithfuls rants. I still stand by my initial post and there is no generalizing comment in it. Pls go back and read my comment again bro! |

Promhize: Ego need no massage, all the poster has managed to do is insinuate that the elite are beyond reproach by means of their accumulated success, he dismissed the consequence of failure. Government employees such as Okonjo Iwaela , ministers etc exist in a special profession, they hold a limited liability and the poster would like them to retain said absolute exemptions. The worst that can happen to Okonjo Iwaela is shell be accused of gross negligence , the fact remains her notion of economic success is extremely flawed she's been getting weekly instructions from World Bank ,IMF and undertaking actions without foresight. Over 2 year after partial subsidy removal, where are the updated transport systems promised , where are the refineries , this same dunce woman once equated the expansion of the middle class by how many new cars were registered in the year . If you lack balls to ask for your rights don't speak silly of those who do |

kenonze: Permit to comment and please know I mean no disrespect to you and your opinion With respect to your comment, I find it flawed because many of us today are Passing . Over. Opportunities . Repeatedly (POOR). Read an article today where the owner and founder of Alibaba (Jack Ma) who said and i quote, "If you are poor at 35, you deserve it" and it got me thinking that many of us the youths would rather spend our productive time doing unproductive things from watching football or TV shows or something else rather than reading up on the latest trends in the world, how to solve problems, understand a business idea that has been proffered to them or attend a business class that will be of benefit to them. It's just crazy. Been guilty of this and I decided a while back when someone opened my eyes to take responsibility for my future and shape it because my parents desires are now my turn offs and the same is likely to happen with my kids. Case in point, picture this, it was a pride and Joy for our parents to work in manufacturing industries/schools/civil service(NITEL, Former NEPA etc) in those days. However, most of our generation today do not want that. Our desire is for banks, Telecoms companies, oil companies etc. Some say God forbid with thoughts of offers like the ones parents enjoyed. The offices and companies your children would work or buy over in the next 15-20 years have not been birthed yet. They would also say God forbid to the MTN's, Zenith Banks, etc you crave for today I have found my own UBER, my own oil well and am ready to share it with all who are interested. The question is, ARE YOU INTERESTED? SUCCESS LOVES SPEED

It may sound lonely, but
your life really is all on
you. You’re going to have
help along the way, but
never wait for it. You’re
going to be given
opportunities, but it’s up to
you to find them not for
them to find you.
In the stories that John’s
characters told, their fate
was their own. Your fate is
the same. It isn’t in the
hands of your government,
nor in the hands of the
corporate world. There
have never been more
ways to start a business,
more niches to feed and
fill and there’s NEVER been
more people to help that
genuinely need help, nor
more people willing to lend
a helping hand.
This is where the excuses
stop. Within the life you’re
leading there are
opportunities to help
people, to create
something that people
need, to start your own
business or help someone
else fulfill their dream by
jumping on board with
their team. 1 Like |

There are, however, no
excuses to take handouts
and keep them, never
paying them back. There
are no excuses to stop
growing and pushing,
working and hustling. This
should be liberating , this
idea that there are endless
examples of successful
people who were born into
whatever circumstances
you were born into.
Sure they may have had to
work harder than everyone
else, but life ain’t fair. It’s
not supposed to be fair.
There would be no
greatness if life were fair,
no reason to risk more or
work harder.
It’s all on you. Start
working. |

sweetgala: I guess y'all are too dull to get the message! Who's talking about your foolish rights? What better rights does Malaga Yousafzia have than you?! What better rights do other few youths making a difference in Nigeria have than most of you?! Do you know what is called fallacy?! That's what your reply to the op's post is. You want to talk about rights?! You want your rights and you sit comfortably behind your gadget, forming activist. Some of the names, the op mentioned were young Nigerian activists, with nothing more than a formal tertiary education, making a difference even when their situation was worse and less permissive than that which you are in now. If you want your rights, you take a cue from Egypt, and demand for it on the streets and not on Nairaland's comments section. Your balls would have made a good difference if it wasn't peanut sized. Goodluck economics and international relations wizard. |
