bandely: Don't mind them. Very cheeky and patronizing article. No element of sincerity in the article. People fail to read between the lines. Its like, lets see what they can do with such a president with all this history. And then they suggest possible things that could go wrong. They need to leave this country alone for real. There is ISIS and other stuff going on. Hardly any facts in the article. All speculation, badly researched and petty article. 1 Like |

all4naija:you and your mama don chop today? I need not read your epistle according to paul because you obviously don't have a job to write 3 paragraphs in response to my comment. Or is it you that wrote this crazy article. Go for training and stop writing rumours. |

bandely:This your post is very laughable! Aren't you saying the same thing as the NY Times that Buhari regime expelled immigrants? You are a funny Buhari(former dictator) defender indeed! Jeez! |

baby124:You are quick to jump on the bandwagon,no matter the error in it, without looking deep into the fact of the matter of that post. That is a big shame on you. Buhari ordered out illegal migrants is a fact and it is in line with what NY Times wrote that he expelled thousands of foreign immigrants during his dictatorship in the country. |

Two weeks ago, the country’s governors came hat in hand to the president-in-waiting, Mr. Buhari, pleading for money to pay state employee salaries. Their stated impoverishment is due partly to the drop in the price of oil, Nigeria’s dominant source of revenue, but also to their own profligacy. Most of our state governors are irresponsibly corrupt and reckless and govern without any due consideration to the public good,” the country’s leading political scientist, Jibrin Ibrahim, wrote this month. Interestingly all people saw was Buhari, Jonathan's Bad leadership. 1 Like |

all4naija:Immigration: Immigration is the movement of people into a country to which they are not native in order to settle there, especially as permanent residents or future citizens. Illegal immigration: is the migration of people across national borders in a way that is contrary to the immigration laws of the destination country. In general, an undocumented immigrant (also called an illegal immigrant or unauthorized immigrant or other terms) is a person who enters and remains in a country without a valid visa or permit from that country, or who has overstayed the duration of a visa that has been granted, or whose visa has been cancelled. Source: Wikipedia.org Chimamanda Adichie said, the easiest way to disposes a people (story) is to start with secondly. You obviously know that the use of immigrants as against illegal immigrants was damning to the personality of GMB. |
Re: New York Times Special Report On Buhari's Inauguration by Nobody: 2:51pm On May 27, 2015 |
bandely:It's not demeaning to his personality as a dictator then. Yet most of you would cry foul when Europeans and South Africans repatriate black Africans. Whether they are ILLEGAL immigrants or not he deported immigrants in their thousands during his rootless regime and the author of the article didn't even emphasized on the nature those immigrants were deported because it's irrelevant at that point in time. |
Re: New York Times Special Report On Buhari's Inauguration by bandely(m): 3:15pm On May 27, 2015 |
all4naija:First, count me out of the "most of you" group. If you don't have a business doing/being an illegal immigrant in a country, you deserve repatriation as the government of the nation deemed fit! You also mentioned that it wasn't emphasized, but was one of the first description of him in the article. It does tell you something. Again, Buhari only reminded ILLEGAL immigrants that they are not wanted here, and that is it. If subsequent governments had followed suit, I'm sure the issue of Boko Haram, with Chadian and Nigerien infiltrating our borders, won't be as grevious as it is, if at all it happened. |
Re: New York Times Special Report On Buhari's Inauguration by Nobody: 3:56pm On May 27, 2015 |
bandely:Whatever! Most-of-you in the sense many Nigerians. Whether you are among them or not is not important to me because I didn't even put you in that position in the first place. In my post, I said, the author of the article didn't emphasized on the nature the immigrants were deported which is found on this SOURCE below. http://www.nytimes.com/1985/05/05/world/expelled-foreigners-pouring-out-of-nigeria-by-the-associated-press.html It clearly explains the cruelty of the then dictator who only was acting on his predecessor's action(a civilian) he deposed on a coup d'etat. It is surprising how you think deportation would have solved the problem of Boko Haram. The fact that the insurgents are mainly Nigerians speaks volumes of your understanding of terrorism. Fighting it is more complicated than merely deporting ILLEGAL immigrants from the country. |
Re: New York Times Special Report On Buhari's Inauguration by bandely(m): 4:21pm On May 27, 2015 |
all4naija:It is well known that coups d'etat were the norm in those days. Also, the deposed Shehu Shagari's administration was the worst ever seen, a title wrestled away from it by the current (GEJ) administration. To have thought things would continue like that for years, having just won another tenure, and in an era where soldiers were still very interested in governance, must have saddened a lot! In essence, I justify that particular coup d'etat. Don't quote me out of context. Again, with strict immigration laws, and its implementation, the issue of Boko Haram wouldn't have been the way it is. It is known that the group had a lot of members who were foreigners (mostly Chadians and Nigeriens) . You may choose to continue to rigmarole, but I think I've made my points clear enough. Also, please deal with it, the "Dictator" has come to be our president! Afterall, the "shoeless" one was once so! |
