We have to stop these tribalistic comments between Yorubas and Igbos, Yoruba and Benins and sometimes Yorubas-Igbos-Hausas. You guys are not the only ones on NAIRALAND. No tribe should feel he is superior to any other tribe. We are all Nigerians. This tribal or racial bias has never favored anyone or country.

It may sound like a joke now, but let's not forget that's how Aldolf Hitler started. What about the Hutis and the tuties? These genocides didn't just happen, it must have started with little hate comments, one race or tribe feeling superior to others.

Make no mistake about it, racism and tribalism are one and the same.

Let us join hands and condemn every tribalistic comments on nairaland no matter how small. Let us protect our country.

Evil prevail when good men do nothing. Today I, whobethisman, take a stand against tribalism on nairaland.

if a Yoruba man insulted ur tribe, that's not enough to generalize every one. What you are doing is wrong. The little seed of hate you plant today, pray it dosnt germinat and grow into a tree.

Reply hate with love or don't reply Atall

From 2010 i registered on Nairaland, to early this year, i have read and read and read how Yoruba people like to put Igbo Speaking Biafrans and Biafrans on the general down.
I had to abandon my sitting on the fence and came in as re-enforcement for my dear Biafrans...now u want me to stop? Heck no, because the Yorubas have the power of the media, they attack us anyhow and sow a seed of discord in the hearts of our brothers down South.
We have woken up, if someone like me who was 100% detribalized before now can be converted into this game, broh forget it, you can't stop it.
Until Biafra is restored I don't see them stopping their calumny or their peddling of lies against us while preaching "one naijiriya".

dammit!

U ve the support of blackfire, call on me anytime tribal war is setting and watch me,diffuse it with my e-commandos.
Do u know we are from the same family?which means our great grand parents were once brothers and sisters. Tribalism is as evil as racism, and religious gra gra.

You are not alone.....we plenty for your back.
But it seems Nairaland benefits from tribal threads cos of the traffic they attract.
So nothing but lip service will be paid to fight tribalism.

You wrote Yoruba as Yoruba and Hausa as Hausa but wrote Igbo as igbo !!! Spot the difference?

Correct your bias and we can start from there.

Thank you.

At a time when I'm seriously considering leaving my neutral stance. Anyway, I hope you achieve this lofty goal of yours. Media (when available) has been known to play prominent role in flaring tensions, and it seems our media too is already towing that part.
I support you fella.

Tribalism takes us nowhere...we need to learn to watch each other's backs from the standpoint of honesty, not an attempt to lull one into a false sense of safety and then attack when their guards are lowered. That is why the Bible says to be wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove.

@op: Is there a particular reason why u took pains to use caps when writing specific names of tribes as expected but just couldn't do so for 'Igbo'? You actually wrote Yoruba-igbo-Hausa? I'm even irritated now that I've reproduced wat u did just to make d point clear. It is grammatically wrong and politically incorrect as far as the subject matter is concerned. I daresay it was deliberately done too!

It was a typo, autocorrect issues. I have corrected it now. For the record, I am not Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba. I am a Nigerian and I take a stand against tribalism. It is leading us no where.
lalasticlala I wish all nairalands could see this.

Your message is what I have been trying to pass across to peps on nairaland as well. We cannot afford to continue on this dishonourable and disgraceful path of tribalism on nairaland.

This message is especially for the Igbos & Yorubas here.

OP some of us have been here long enough to know who started this rubbish.

Go into NL archives and see the threads of 2008- late 2010 and see how Ibos ran all sorts of hate threads against yorubas, with most of us, in our usual way, unconcerned about it until it really got out of hands and the reaction was unleashed fully back on them.

Most of their e-Generals have calm down and there appears to be little sanity now, unlike then.

For the ones that refused to change, we are here for them until the last standing one of them, has a change of heart.

Till then, I am proudly yoruba.

Mutual respect and decorum are luxury words in some people's lexicon and they should not expect same, if they are not ready to give any.

It actually made me to read the history of Nigeria from 1820 till date.

Made me to read virtually all the literatures about war. I careless about it before. Initially, I thought it was just a mere riot.

Made me to read the history of yorubas -- culture, tradition, language and war expedition.

Same for Igbos, Hausa/Fulanis and Benins.

In a way, it makes you to search for more knowledge and to discover your root and really know who you are and who you are in the same geographical expression with.
