The Southies envy Nigerian OPVs, imagine, our OPVs can sail around Africa without refueling, but expensive Frigates of Soweto CANNOT try it !
.

Why would we envy a 50 year old vessel that cannot fight in naval combat?

Our Warrior class outrage your new Chinese OPV's and Valour class has enough range for the duties that we have assigned to it.

We built a NAVY

Now we are building a Maritime Security force

You built a COAST GUARD

Now you are... o wait... your not building a navy

Regardless of the size of your opv it's range will have to more than double to meet that of the warrior class

Warrior class is a better opv in terms of range

Show us citation to prove the range of P18N is less than Warrior class.

OPV is for patrol NOT naval combat, if they are useless, why is SAN crying tears for project biro as you soweto navy struggles to buy 1 OPV in 23 years of jinx and disappointment?

Now post source of Nigeria's P18N range as you claim it's less than your tiny toy boat Warrior class.

The longest range warship in Africa belongs to Nigeria, NNS Thunder and NNS Okpabana, ALL South African warships including Warrior boat, Valour Frigate, SAS Drakensberg, and Submarines CANNOT, I mean CANNOT match the range of our two ships .

Today, NN out-ranges SAN at sea. Live with it !

OPV's are indeed just that
But we allready have frigates and submarines
Now we can focus on smaller support vessels
Only one of your frigates is operational, and your submarines are without battery.Infact, your navy has barely enough sailors to operate half of ghana's naval fleet.
It costs you too much to maintain your overpriced, underperforming naval toys, the only option i see is for you to dissolve your navy's blue water capacity in order to allow for a more sophisticated territorial maritime defence.
But of course, corruption is your watchword.

There is NO other ship in that class with the size of P18N.....show us one I dare you !

The closest is Thai navy Type 056 OPV with range 3,500 nautical miles, not the 2,000 nm you claim you liar !

P18N is 1,800 tons. Thai ship is 1,300 tons. Tells you range difference.

You are the one claiming Nigerian P18N has less range than Warrior boat, so show us the source of your P18N data , are you afraid ?

The idea that China is building all our vessels for us is an utterly ridiculous fallacy. Why,I can clearly remember that China is scrambling to acquire more vessels to safeguard its hold on the South-China sea and silk trade route, tell me,how can a country in such a dire need, leave its own problems to serve the interests of another country?.

There is nothing ridiculous from that statement. China is assuming the status of superpower in Africa and has offered to build Nigeria two OPVs including Cameroon. Nigeria does not have the capacity to build her own warship other than through foreign sponsors. China had to give you the money and gun point you thereafter that you are not going to contract anyone else other than a Chinese company to carry out all your project, yet you are still going to pay them back.

You illiterate

You are unable to comprehend the most basic of sources

The source explains the designed usage of our fleet - a usage that the fleet has maintained.

The only times it failed to do so was when 2 subs were in dry-dock (after the crash) and most recently when the Amatola was undergoing sea-trials post refit and was thus not considered operationally ready.

Dude, I am starting to lose interest in this thread. This is becoming pointless.

The 20mm on the Drakensburg are listed as just 20mm Oerlekon

I am not wasting anymore time with this.

We all know that they are manually operated, I have shown you pictures as well.

If you want to argue for the sake of arguing, go ahead. I am not going to waste my time with pointless arguments.
