The Joy Of Victory: A New Dawn For Rivers State by Nobody: 12:04pm On May 29, 2015 |
The Memorable May 29,2015 This day May 29, 2015 means different things to different people. For the people of Rivers state it means a day of freedom and political emancipation from the claws of the impunitive and reckless outgoing Governor Chibuike Amaechi. Since, 2013 Rivers state has been making embarrassing headlines that has brought nothing but shame to the people of the state and by extension to the people of Niger Delta. Today we hope will mark an end to all of these. The Task Before Governor Nyesome Wike The Newly installed Governor Nyesom Wike should as a matter of urgency announce the appointment of Justice Daisy Okocha as the acting Chief Judge(CJ) of Rivers state in line with section 271 (4) of the 1999 Constitution that stipulates that the most senior judge of the state's high court be appointed acting CJ pending the appointment of substantive CJ of the state. This is also in line with ruling of Justice Akanbi of the Federal High Court(Porthharcourt) in February 2014, where the Judge nullified Amaechi's appointment of the now suspended Justice Peter Agumagu as the state's acting Chief Judge(who as at that time was not even a High Court judge). Rivers has been without judiciary for a very long time no thanks to the out-gone incumbent. Wike has now been saddled with the responsibility of restoring order. All the products of the May 23, 2015 charade that Amaechi and his thug Prof Ahiazu called LGA election should be fired within hours of inauguration. Rivers state cannot accommodate rascality irrespective of the guise. The charade called LGA election was not only illegal in terms of the RSIEC act of Rivers state, it was also done against court pronouncement and without the use of INEC's voters register- which is statutory. Wike's administration should dissolve the State's Independent Electoral Commission, appoint new members that will organise local government poll. We can't accommodate rascality. Governor Wike should realise that the people of Rivers state and our allies in the South-South/South East geopolitical zones have been under constant abuse and reckless insults for making our independent political choice of which he (Wike) is part of the beneficiaries. He owes the people of Rivers state the responsibility of governing rivers in the most dignifying manner. He should neither seek to please any outsider nor their willing tools amongst us at the detriment of the entire people that voted and defended him. Rivers is aware that some enemies within and their external political jobbers are not happy that the outgone governor and his stooge were rejected at all levels in the last general election. We are aware that some of them have vowed to make the state unbearable for him and the people of the state. He should be rest assured that the people of Rivers will not forsake him and will always defend him. However, he should be have in mind that we will not hesitate to deal with him internally if he decide to work against Rivers' interests. Also, we shall hold him accountable to rivers people and his promises during the electioneering period. The Joy of Victory The joy in me to witness this great day of Rivers liberation cannot be quantified. I celebrate with the entire people of Rivers state both at home and in diaspora. I also appreciate the brotherly love and support that rivers state received(and still receiving) from our brothers in Bayelsa, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Cross river, Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi and Abia states. It is my prayer that our unity does not end with the last general election. It will be unfair and immoral to forget the love and support from those outside the mentioned states. We hope that you continue to stand by us beyond the May 29 event. It is no doubt that Rivers is blessed with intellectuals and natural resources. It is a certainty that the greatness of Rivers can never be cut short by anyone born of a woman. Not even the ambition of any politician can inhibit our progress. Rivers is marching on, the gates of retrogression and propaganda shall not prevail against us. I Believe In Rivers State... He should neither seek to please any outsider nor be their willing tools amongst us at the detriment of the entire people that voted and defended him. Wike is very much unlike Amaechi, can't see him acting to the detriment of the Rivers people, I think with hindsight Amaechi wouldn't repeat what he did. See his fall from grace in Rivers. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

sinizia:Most definitely! Whether the Buhari-led government agrees to continue with the prosecution of Amaechi or not, Wike will probe him(Amaechi). The Rivers people will sentence Amaechi in the Court of Public opinion for his misdeeds and fraud. That is enough punishment and humiliation that will outlive his existence of earth 3 Likes 1 Share |

The irony of this whole stuff is that same Amechi who killed the judiciary in Rivers was running around to other states where their governors didn't kill the judiciary like he did to obtain an injunction against Wike... Also, now that the judiciary has been reopened; I believe Amechi and cohorts will run to same court they closed down to save themselves when Wike comes against them in form of probe etc... Congratulations to Rivers people and wish Woke success in government... let him remember the masses as his power and primary constituency and constituents.... 2 Likes |

stebell:Since the history of rivers state there has never been a time when people are yearning for the exit of an incumbent like was the case of Amaechi. Justice Daisy has finally been appointed acting CJ despite Amaechi's effore to install his own stooge on the judiciary. It won't be long that the New Rivers House will confirm Daisy's appointment as the CJ of the state in line with NJC recommendation |

sinizia:Wike doesn't need Buhari to probe Amaechi, but he needs the FG to prosecute him if found guilty for corruption. Because the EFCC, ICPC and Special Fraud Unit of the police are statutory empowered to prosecute financial thieves. They are all under FG's control |
