I think it's the traditional and right thing to do by the new president. Even in America, the immediate past president still gets to ride on "Airforce One" to his hometown.
However, officially, the radio call sign of the plane would be "SAM 26000" instead of Airforce one because only planes carrying sitting presidents are given that designation.
