U-20 World Cup; The first Nigerian sports international participating competition for Buhari's new presidential administration.

Failure to win this cup will signify that the element of "Goodluck" in Nigeria's sports ministry had been withdrawn from Nigeria following the ex-president's departure!
Bros!!!! Its not up to that na, its not a do or die affair, the same jonathan administration could not qualify to defend the trophy they won

Relax.... Hw nigerians got short term memory... WYC final, Olympic final with good football.. let siasia be

My Beef remains his destroying of Yemi Tella's boys. For instance, we had a keeper from the U17 tea Ajiboye who conceded only one goal in the competition from Toni Kroos and saved Three penalties against Spain in the finals.

He picked one Emeka Okafor who cannot Goal Keep for my streets junior boys and dropped Ajiboye.

Siasia dropped Ibrahim Rabiu on the bench. The game he started Rabiu, Rabiu scored a wonderful goal and Coach Siasia pulled Rabiu Off not long after the goal. It was clear Siasia did not want him to shine.

at least, trophies were won during Goodluck's regime. Lets see if Buhari's sport administration will impress above that of GEJ.

FIFA U-20 WORLD CUP
The FIFA U-20 World Cup in numbers
(FIFA.com) 28 May 2015

With just a couple of days to go until the latest FIFA U-20 World Cup, FIFA.com takes a statistical look at New Zealand 2015 and the tournament's history.

694 U-20 World Cup graduates have gone on to compete in the senior FIFA World Cup™, while 32 have lifted the most coveted Trophy in the beautiful game.

100 of the 504 players at New Zealand 2015 play their football in foreign leagues. USA's squad, with 13, has the most players overseas, followed by Mali with ten. By contrast, every one of the players representing Myanmar, Ukraine and Uzbekistan ply their trade with domestic clubs.

85 different countries have been represented at the U-20 World Cup during the 20 editions since 1977. That number is to swell yet further at New Zealand 2015 with the addition of debutants Fiji and Myanmar.

68 wins and 216 goals are the tournament record tallies held by Brazil ahead of New Zealand 2015. Famed for their dazzling attacking play, the South Americans also boast the best defensive record in the history of the U-20 World Cup with 51 clean sheets.

48 centimetres tall and 5.1 kilograms in weight, the current U-20 World Cup trophy was redesigned in 2011, with France the first and thus far only team to hold aloft this version.

18 years and nine months is the average age that establishes Nigeria as the youngest squad at New Zealand 2015. The oldest, meanwhile, will be provided by the European duo of Germany and Ukraine, both of whom have an average age of 20.

14 seconds is all it took Nigeria's Monday Odiaka to score the fastest goal in U-20 World Cup history against Canada in 1985. His compatriot, John Owoeri, netted the second-quickest, four seconds shy of the record.

13 goals were scored in the highest-scoring match in U-20 World Cup history: Brazil's 10-3 win over Korea Republic at Malaysia 1997. Future Seleção internationals Fernandao and Ze Elias posted braces apiece in the contest, while Adailton was on target six times in an incredible 39-minute spell. Kosta Salapasidis of Australia and Spain's Fernando Llorente, who managed four goals in respective meetings with Argentina in 1997 and Chile in 2005, remain the only other players to have netted more than three times in one game. Remarkably, Brazil repeated the ten-goal feat at the same edition, registering a 10-0 thrashing of Belgium - the tournament's biggest-ever win - just three days later.

13 years and three months was the tender age at which Republic of Ireland's Jason Byrne became the youngest player in the history of the U-20 World Cup in 1991. The most youthful of the 504 players selected for New Zealand 2015 is 16-year-old Panamanian Adalberto Carrasquilla, born on 28 November 1998. The oldest, meanwhile, are Colombia's Daniel Londono and Bryan Rochez of Honduras, both of whom were born on 1 January 1995 - the latest possible date to qualify for this edition.

11 goals at the 2001 edition not only earned Javier Saviola the adidas Golden Shoe, but set a tournament record that still stands. The former Argentina striker's predatory skills helped La Albiceleste clinch the 2001 crown with a tournament record haul of 27 goals, and he remains the U-20 World Cup's all-time leading scorer.

8 different U-20 World Cups - a tournament record - were overseen by Les Scheinflug as coach of Australia. Other U-20 coaching veterans include the esteemed Jose Pekerman, who won three of the four U-20 World Cups in which he led Argentina, Berti Vogts, Carlos Queiroz, Raymond Domenech and Ange Postecoglou. Ghana's Sellas Tetteh is back for his fourth FIFA tournament and will be looking to maintain his record of having reached at least the semi-finals in each of his three so far.

7 players arrive at New Zealand 2015 having already played at a U-20 World Cup. All seven took part at Turkey 2013: the Mali trio of Ichaka Diarra, Souleymane Sissoko and Hamidou Traore, Ghana's Clifford Aboagye, New Zealand captain Bill Tuiloma, Nigeria's Onyinye Ndidi and Zhabikillo Urinboev of Uzbekistan. A total of 77 players at this tournament have experience of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, with New Zealand alone boasting 12 veterans of that particular tournament.

6 U-20 World Cup titles (1979, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2005 and 2007) have established Argentina as the tournament's most successful team. Brazil follow on five, with two-time winners Portugal are the only other country to have lifted the trophy more than once. The Argentinians also arrive at New Zealand 2015 protecting an 18-match unbeaten run at the competition, with a decade having now passed their last defeat in this competition.

4 consecutive U-20 World Cups have now kicked off without the tournament's reigning champions. France, winners in 2013, failed to qualify to defend their title in New Zealand, following in the footsteps of Brazil in 2013, Ghana in 2011 and Argentina in 2009.[/b]

Yeah, sometimes, those coaches behave like sadists and that was why Keshi didn't allow Nacho play at the world cup( bad belle things). If you watch all these players well, you will observe that they understand the basics of football...their ball control and other skills are impeccable while same can't be said of our national team. A couple of my friends play football and usually get invited for national camps and I can authoritatively tell you that the worst coach so far was Henry Nwosu( no money, no camp).

Please can fifa shift our match to tomorrow, the level of the excitement building in me because of this team is Doro Mega Super EPIC!!!!!!... Can't wait to join the boys in the YES YES YES Crusade. Brazil will hear am on monday..

I had to go to youtube just to watch how will demolish mexico in the final of the UAE U-17 championship.

Mehn that first go is just in its class of it own, great pace, great awareness, great passes + madding speed and acceleration dat is long gone in our senior team. The goal is similar to the goal Man U scored against Arsenal(I can't remember the competition though maybe not aresnal sef). The trio of Rooney, Tevez and C.Ron doing the damage.

Abeg join me to watch the highlight of the final match of UAE U-17 Championship.

Was it Laddan who dropped Ibrahim Rabiu on the bench at the World Cup. Ganiyu Useni was one of the best players of the team. Siasia did not invite him.
Ganiyu oseni was an total failure at the AYC even with all the incentive CSKA gave him. He was promised a certain amount for each goal he score... Dat guy was rubbish... Laddan bosso had no choice but to relegate him to the bench....In fact at the end of the AYC CSKA fined him for an abysmal performance at the AYC... After the AYC the coaching crew was disbanded and Siasia took over barely two months to the WYC... I myself knew siasia wont do so well cos he hardly had time to prepare... infact i felt it was a trap for him... With that said, inviting ganiyu oseni who has lost it to the WYC would have been a great injustice. Odion ighalo, osanga king, sone aluko, haruna lukma et al were arguably the best nigeria had at the time an siasia invited them

Prior to the WYC Rabiu Ibrahim was injured.. There were even doubts that he would make the tournament... Siasia had faith in him and took the risk of taking along an unfit and injured ibrahim though the team doctors ruled him out of all the group game... Tell me... Who does that if not a coach that has absolute confidence in a player. Rabiu had a comeo in the second group game and caused a cheap penalty with a reckless tackle. He played the full game against germany in the knockout stage and scored a goal. Na so dem come house...

In retrospect.. All in all siasia did well but was unfortunate.. Simple

FLYING EAGLES OF NIGERIA:IN THE SPIRIT OF THE "DAMAAN MIRACLE"
The year was 1989, at the under-20 World cup competition held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Flying Eagles of Nigeria, comprising the bulk of the players that won the silver medal at the 1987, under-17 World cup competition, together with some other talented youngsters, qualified to represent Nigeria and Africa, at the 1989, under -20 World cup competition. It was a beautiful team that comprised players like: Angus Ikeji, Emeka Amadi, Nduka Ugbade, Peter Ogaba, Taiwo Enegwa, alias" Energy," Justice Christopher, Oladunni Oyekale, Oladimeji Mohammed Lawal, Christopher Ohenhen, Mutiu Adepoju, alias" Headmaster," Philip Osondu, alias" Zanza," Christopher Nwosu, Anthony Emedeofu, and all the other beautiful and talented youngsters, who due to the limitations of the human memory, cannot be recalled.
The team no doubt had a depth of talent, but this fact notwithstanding, it was underrated by the Nigerian press, and consequently Nigerians, mainly because their coach and chief strategist: Tunde Disu, obtained his coaching licence, in the United States of America; a country considerd at that time to be a soccer minnow . In other words, Coach Disu, was considerd by the Nigerian press, as being tactically inadequate to tinker the Flying Eagles to appreciable heights at the under-20 World cup competition, notwithstanding the team's depth of talent. Nobody gave this beautiful team a chance at the under-20 World cup competition. Nigerians wonderd how soon the team would be eliminated rather than how far the team would go in the competition !
When the team started their opening match ,weakly, against hosts Saudi-Arabia, and consequently went one goal down, in the first half, this further gave credence to their perceived vulnerability, in the eyes of Nigerians. In the second half, however, this indefatigable and highly courageous team, under impuls of Philip Osondu, alias" Zanza,"started their characteristic come back, a characteristic come back, that enabled this team reach unexpected heights at the 1989 under -20 World cup competition. The Philip Osondu inspired second half performance, saw the Flying Eagles, coming back forcefully in the game, taking the game to the hosts and consequently, dominated the game. This paid off through a header of an equaliser, scored by Mutiu Adepoju, alias" headmaster,"off a beautiful pull out from the left side of attack, by Philip Osondu. The scores became 1-1; and the Flying Eagles, renewed their attacking onslaught, on the now out-played hosts. A free kick slightly outside the Saudi-Arabian eighteen yard box, on the left side of the Nigerian offensive line, was fired home, by left winger: Christopher Ohenhen, to give the Flying Eagles, a 2-1 lead. The Flying Eagles held on to this lead, till the end, to secure an opening victory, and the two points at stake !
This opening victory gave Nigerians hope, but nobody had huge expectations in this team. The loss by 1-0, to a young Louis Figo - inspired Portugal, in the second match, further dampened the hopes of Nigerians.
The Flying Eagles needed at least a draw in their last group's match againstAustralia, to be sure of qualification for the quarter-finals.
The match against the Australians, didn't start well for the Flying Eagles, as they were initially out played by the Australians, who deservedly took a one goal lead, before half time.
