Ilekeh: There is nothing like Nigerian movie industry. Movie production. evolved independently amongst the Hausas( now Kannywood) Yorubas( Yorubawood) and Igbos ( now Nollywood) at different times in history, Nigeria was never a nation. Hausas are still proud of their less lucrative Kannywood, but Yorubas on the other hand are now ashamed of their Yorubawood, trying by all means to collapse Yorubawood into Nollywood and claim founders of nollywood, seeing as Yorubawood is older than Nollywood. Well, Ndiigbo are not dulling, the more you force yourselves on us, the more we spit you out. Sons Akalaogili, looking to reap where they didn't sow. 10 Likes |

pazienza: Young son, that's where you're wrong. Nollywoodis a Nigerian industry with popular Nigerians, including Yoruba people. Yorubahood is a Nigerian movie industry in the Yoruba language. Hausas were never classified as Nollywood because they never marketed their movies as Nollywood movies. The case is different from Yoruba and English movies. Igbos do not own Nollywood. Much of Nollywood's success can be attributed to Yorubas and Non-Igbo actors/actresses like Tonto Diken, Nelson, Mercy J, and other Ghanaians. Forget the overhyped Igbo actresses on NL by Igbo people. Although the actress that plays wicked MIL (forgot her) sabi her role. 2 Likes |

Tufiakwa this people have started their stealing again. After others work hard to make Nollywood what it is today, Yoruba's as usual are trying to take credit of others hard work. Smfh. I've never seen this type of lazy ppl before. I'm so glad Igbo producers make sure to contine distinguishing Nollywood from Yollywood. They really really need to make sure they maintain that cause the second, the f2king second they remove it, it'll be the day we'll hear "Yoruba made Nollywood. Yoruba made it international. Nollywood is Yoruba creation.". If Igbo and SS producers are smart enough, they'll make sure the status quo stays as it is today. A word of advise 10 Likes 1 Share |

nonaira: LMAOOOO Igbos don't steal the hardwork of others? Are Igbos the only actress and actors in Nollywood? The most popular celebrities aren't even Igbos. Yoruba's producers contributions made Nollywood what it is. Forget the bad plot and rushed movies Igbo producers deliver. Even Ghanaians contributed to Nollywood's success. Igbos wants to take the praise for other people's hard work. 3 Likes |

pazienza: Couldn't have said it better. Can you even imagine. Tufiakwa for those ppl. Igbo producers were nice enough to include few of their actress in their hard work and as usual, this people are slying trying to steal their achievement. Spits on the floor. Tufiakwa. If Nollywood producers are smart, they'll keep them away. If someone shows they are longer Drinking for your hard work, the smart thing to do is keep them the f2k away. This is why the North is different. They are in content with their own industry, even if it hasn't scored as high as Nollywood they okay with it but for Yoruba, tufiakwa. The Ghanaians, The Hausas, the Middle Eastern men and from what heard, currently Chinese men they starting to use to play oyibo are not trying to lay claim Nollywood hard work as part of their own but lo behold, look whose trying. I hope the Igbo producers are smart enough to maintain that status quo and not try to remove the distinction. The Yoruba's should be happy with their Yollywood just like North is happy with their Kannywood and even Ghanaians are happy with their Ghannywood and stop longer thr0ating. 8 Likes |

Ilekeh: See this is EXACTLY what I'm saying. You people are truly the most pathetic human beings I've ever met in my life. The Nollywood movie industry became international thanks to the movie by Kenneth okonwo known as living in bondage. After that, the home movie industry increased in the 90s spreading across Africa and Caribbean in the 2000s. The most popular Nollywood actress are predominately Igbo from Genevive Nnaji to Rita Dominic to Jim Iyke to Nkem Owoh to Mama G, etc . the movie stars predominately in Nolywood are Igbo origin. The only Yoruba stars popular in Nollywood is is omotola, that dude that's always playing a king, and Ramsey Noauh..THAT'S IT. The rest of your stars are in YOLLYWOOD and Yollywood is your Yollywood. No one is arguing with or fighting una for it. Do as you please with it. If you ppl want to spread to Brazil, good for you. But STOP attache by force to Nollywood that una didn't contribute to. Be happy with wtf u ppl got. Is any one fighting with you people on the TV plays that isn't marketing outside Nigeria? Is anyone fighting you people for your Yollywood? Is anyone? Tufiakwa for you people. You people are extremely pathetic lots 9 Likes |

nonaira: Part of the reason why the Nollywood model became money spinning and lucrative was because it was 100% profit oriented. The Igbo producer will give the best actor/ actress the job, as that will guarantee more profits. He doesn't care that the actress was Yoruba( Omotala, Olu jacobs, Joke sylva, Ramsey Noah, Seun Arinze) or even Northern like Mercy Johnson. The Igbo producer doesn't mix tribalism with business, he is a businessman, profit maximization is his ultimate goal. This trait was exactly what stood nollywood out and made it economically viable. As long as our strongmen remain in control, I don't care who get the roles. Hollywood has many non American actors/actors, you don't grow by shutting others out, you grow by opening your doors and controlling who comes and goes. 7 Likes |

nonaira: Lol at this pathetic being calling Yorubas pathetic. No problem, we have both Yorubawood and Nollywood. Who are these people you mentioned outside of Nigeria? The widely known people are Genevieve and Mama G. The rest are overrated by Igbos. Nollywood does not even have reputation in Nigeria. No be the same Nollywood that voted and campaigned for GEJ? Your overhype celebrities only have magic in the East. Who did Yorubawood support? Who did they campaign for? Yorubas own both Yorubawood and Nollywood. Granted, there are more Non-Yorubas in Nollywood than in Yorubawood (duh), but our Yoruba producers bring Nollywood to the spotlight. 3 Likes |

pazienza: There are non-Yorubas in Yorubahood, but we don't emphasize on that. Your points are invalid. Yorubawood focuses more on Cultural display, while in Nollywood, we focus on profit (i.e Yoruba producers producing most of the highest grossing Nollywood movies). |

Who made Nollywood? 1. Yorubas 2. Igbos 3. Non-Igbos/Non-Yorubas 4. Ghanaians Why should English movies produced by Yorubas and acted by Yorubas be called Yorubawood? Nollywood belongs to all Nigerians. We own part of it We made it what it is too 3 Likes |

Ilekeh: Tufiakwa!!! Very pathetic ppl. Similar to how MB and North did all the fighting in Biafra and Yoruba came out and claim their credit Similar to how Northern votes put buhari in power and Yoruba came out of claim it was their vote that did it Similar to how Igbo producers worked their butt off to make Nollywood international and currently ranking next to Bollywood and Hollywood, and lo behold the lazy lots are once again trying to take credit as usual. Even though they, Yoruba, have been in the industry long enough and weren't able to break outside of Nigeria until Kenneth came out and broke the camel's back stretching past Nigeria and into Africa. Nkem owoh following Kenneth's footstep broke into Caribbeans, una as usual stretching to claim. PATHETIC!!!!!!!!! Anyway, considering your brother is whining that they keeping the status quo and the big wigs are making sure they distinguish your Yollywood from Nollywood that's all that matters. No matter how much attache una do would change that. 7 Likes |

pazienza: Personally I would have agreed with you but if someone is trying to steal their hardwork and try to market it off as their own then they need to analyze whether those people need to be patronize in their hard work. That's all I'm saying. I personally believe they should patronize those that are in content with their work aka North than those that aren't. Well at least they increasing more northerners in Nollywood, we have that kannywood actor that joined Nollywood, the abubakar chick, that lightskin chick and like you said mercy Johnson. 4 Likes |

nonaira: Foolish people. Were Yorubas not part of the Nigerian soldier? Did a Yoruba not lead a small Biafran team? (Victor something). Didn't a yoruba man speak for Biafra (Wole S.)? In 2015's election, the North had the same voting characterisitcs in 2011. Same SS/SE voting characteristic in 2011. What changed? Yoruba votes. Yoruba producers' movies are the most popular in Nollywood. Lazy Igbo traders bootleg another man's hardwork to make money. Igbos will continue to call their criminal activities (selling fake and bootleg products) hard work. Bootlegging Chinese products. Bootlegging Kunle's movies. Same Nollywood celebs carrying American holidays on their head like it's a Nollywood thing. Unlike Nollywood, Yorubawood does not steal Hollywood ideas (Rihana and Beyonce, Mr & Mrs Smith etc). Yoruba movies are built on culture, and regardless of language barrier, we still compete with English movies Igbos; Feeding off of other people's sweat. Disgusting. 3 Likes |

Nigeria and dragging. Ah ah, we too dey drag everything. Tufia. What stops us from having an Umbrella movie industry. I thought Nollywood was a term used in encompassing all the local/regional film industry we have in the country. Why the e-fight? For me, I think the Igbo guyz who called the Nigerian film industry by that name (Nollywood) had a nationalistic intention and envisioned a pan-african movie industry benefitting not just Nigeria but every African. These Igbo film makers traded their budding Igbo language classics into an English speaking entity that every Nigerian can relate to, irrespective of tribe and religion. Consequently, to reach out to a larger audience a cue from Achebe's Things Fall Apart was the only ingredient needed to make the difference. English language replaced Igbo as the medium of communication, Yet much emphasis was placed this time on culture. This singular move led to the renaissance of Nollywood. But, the idea that Nollywood is purely an Igbo affair is false. That the Igbo nurtured it to this level does not underplay the involvement of other Nigerians including the Yoruba's to its growth. The likes of Kunle Afolayan and Tunde Kelani stand tall in the English speaking industry. It is fair to say however, that under the Umbrella of Nollywood, regional and ethnic based film industries exist side by side with their English counterpart. We have Yoruwood in the West, Kannywood in the North and the now lucrative Igbowood in the East. Minor native minority films as Edowood, Efikwood, Igalawood etc are also in existence. Below is a link I saw online about the History of Nollywood. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinema_of_Nigeria 4 Likes |
