please sir help me to solve this if the nth term of an Ap is (16-6n) find d |
Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by frob0genius(f): 9:05am On May 29, 2015 |
Mnewton:Nth term is given as a+(n-1)d This implies 16-6n=a+(n-1)d Make d subject of formula You have d=(2(8-3n)-a)/(n-1) 1 Like |
Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by Ayomide002: 2:11pm On May 29, 2015 |
If nth term=16-6n........(n+1)th =16-6(n+1)....=16-6-6n=10-6n......since d=(n+1)th-nth=10-6n-(16-6n)=10-16=-4...... So d=-4 |

Pls help me solve this:find the term independent of x in the expression of (x-1/2x)^12. |
Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by Drniyi4u(m): 7:37pm On May 29, 2015 |
Sadia1992:If what u mean is [(x-1)/2x]^12, then the term independent of x is 1/4096 |

Drniyi4u: Hahahaha. That maths competition that will make everyone in the house ask "what are you doing?" Particularly when solving against time. Although, it wasn't devoid of some hitches, it was fun and I hope the next one would be better. |

dejt4u:Beeen a while, long time. How are you? That day, I was trying to help a guy with his change of subject question when I saw you already did. Wanted to upload the entire solution for him but I thought your method of trying to make him figure out things for himself was better, so, I dropped it. Do you still hear from your friend, Amazing Angel? |

Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by Nobody: 11:33am On Jun 04, 2015 |
Emdee590: Question (1) missing an item Question (2): if number is to be greater than 4000, then it can only start with any of 4,5,6 (3 ways of starting), i.e. 3 x.... second term can have any of the other 4 numbers, once first term is fixed (no repetition), then third any of 3, then fourth any of 2. Hence, 3 x 4 x 3 x 2 = 72 numbers |
