Buhari, Osinbajo declare assets
Posted by: Augustine Ehikioya in Featured, News Update 20 mins ago

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have declared their assets in line with provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Buhari’s Head of Media Team, Garba Shehu.
The statement said that the Code of Conduct Bureau on Friday acknowledged the submission of the two leaders’ assets declaration forms.
The forms, the statement said, were submitted separately on May 28 and signed for by the organisation’s Chairman, Sam Saba.
It said: “President Buhari’s Declarant ID was given as: ‘President: 000001/2015′.
“The Nigerian Constitution states in Chapter VI Section 140, that a person elected to the office of President shall not begin to perform the functions of that office until he has declared his assets and liabilities as prescribed in the Constitution.”
By declaring their assets, the statement said that President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo may have not only fulfilled the requirements of the Nigerian Constitution, but also fulfilled the first of their many campaign promises.
It noted that while seeking election into the highest office in the land, the President had promised Nigerians that he would publicly declare his assets as soon as he took over government.

This is leadership by example. I hope they would continue like this in all things, and in all ways. Kudos.

Leadership by example.

You jst gotta luv this man. His ways are so naked and worth emulating. This man has lived his life so well(with no skeleton in his cupboard) that he isn't afraid to sell his parrot to a town crier/gossip. This is the kinda man Nigeria deserve.

What's the difference between what Buhari just did and what Jonathan did? Jonathan also declared his assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau so what's the big deal? You guys should clear your heads of this Buhari spell that has been cast upon you.

I laff @ u. Did Jonathan declare his assets when he was president? Your GEJ only did when he was vice president and he did so because Yaradua insisted. He never wanted to.

Jonathan declared his assets publicly when he was the VP to Yar Adua but in 2011 he declared his assets with the Code of Conduct Bureau. Jonathan was criticised not because he didn't declare his assets but because he didn't declare his assets publicly as he did in 2007 with Yar Adua. You understand now?

Nah! I disagree bro. He only submitted his asset declaration form to the code of conduct and till the end of his tenure, it was never inspected.

Bros do you have comprehension issues? Did you really read the link you provided? How does one declare his assets with CCB? Isn't it via filling of forms? All Civil Servants declare their assets with the CCB, go and ask one how it's being done. Jonathan filled the assets declaration form and submitted to CCB therefore Jonathan declared his assets. Whether he did it publicly or not is another topic for discussion.

And was it Jonathan's fault that the CCB didn't inspect the form pronto? Jonathan submitted the form in 2011, and a year later the CCB said they're yet to review the form but acknowledged receipt of Jonathan's assets declaration form. That's CCB's fault and not Jonathan's. And what makes you think they didn't later review the form, afterall the news link you provided is old (published 2012).

Of course GEJ declared his asset after so much noise was made. Remember he made the "I don't give a damn" statement on the issue. He even said its a personal issue on one of the many uninspiring media chats. Yes while he reluctantly submitted the CCB form (which would have been greatly falsified), that he was made to declare his asset after so much prodding and persuasions said a lot about his body language as regards transparency. Thank God the reign of impunity is finally over. In the words of madam Oby, may God never punish us with that kind of leader again - yes gej was a punishment .

Jonathan didn't declare his assets after so much noise. He declared his assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau even before he was sworn in as President as stipulated in the 1999 constitution as amended.
