tbaba1234:not just that. They also defeated the big boys of the NPL and trounced a team their senior brothers could only get a goalless draw against. Individually, Isaac has been playing in the topflight, so he can deal with the pressure. Iheanacho is a cocky little thing who can hold his own against the big boys as seen in the pre-season games with City, plus, he's shown in the U21's that he's far too skilled for those boys. Then we have Awoniyi who visited the U23 team and showed them how to score away goals. These boys may be young, but they're no greenhorns 2 Likes |

Icon4s: I personally believe so much in these guys and I will disagree with the idea that they may not perform in this tournament, the hype on them may be on the high side due to their performances since we know them. These guys are more exposed than the 1987 flying eagles you compared them with because some of them already have international exposure. Let's fold our arms and wait till 4am June 1st Result will tell... 1 Like |

The main fears for the eagles right now is their defence and attack in that other... They should be wary of a high defensive line... The attack efficiency needs improvement.... But I hope with Isaac's experience and Nacho's increasing maturity they will learn to convert their chances..... . PREDICTIONS: I smell a brazil capitulation Naija 5 brasil 2 Otherwise Naija 3 brasil 2.. I never trust that defense... Lolz |

tbaba1234: See ur point. True, the pool is larger. But if the players from previous U-17s were good enough they will maintain their spot irrespective of their ages. Just like the Ghanaian team of 1993. My guess is that they lost their spots to better players who still couldn't win the U-20 |
Re: Flying Eagles of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (New Zealand 2015) by femi9naija(m): 6:23pm On May 31, 2015 |
As we hope on these boys, let's also pray for the element of luck. Personally, I'm not expecting them to win but i wish they do. Winning the u17 2 years ago doesn't translate to bashing the Brazilians 4-0 as some of my fellow forumites have been predicting. To be frank i wasn't impressed with what i saw of the team at the AYC especially after the first round. We were lucky against Ghana (Ghana dominated the match) and it needed an individual brilliance to win in the final. Though despite that they still got the job done =WINNING. My predictions for tomorrow's meeting is a score draw. |

P0intBlank: Possibly but under 17 and under 20 are two different levels.. That is why a player like Alfa who played all the games at under 17 has been cut off the team. |

femi9naija:considering the fact that it was more or less a Team B of Flying Eagles that won the AYC, you should be impressed. No Iheanacho, no Isaac, no Moses, no Yahaya....those are the goal machines and none of them was present, yet, these boys managed to trash every opponent.....you really should be impressed |
Re: Flying Eagles of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (New Zealand 2015) by linked: 6:38pm On May 31, 2015 |
safarigirl:It all about preferences.. Either the A or B team can beat brazil... For total dominance I prefer playing tricky midfielders in the wings to support either two strikers in a 4-4-2 system or a top-notch poacher in a 4-3-3 system. I prefer this for better ball retaining especially when the lose the ball I love the idea of pressing the opposition right from their own box. Whatever team is selected the eagles are very likely to win |

Re: Flying Eagles of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (New Zealand 2015) by linked: 6:55pm On May 31, 2015 |
kannymoore:muyi's lineuo has more balance.. With yahaya preferred to simon on the right... Awoniyi has being building his all round game.. Thus he can nail the left as he did in some of tbe AYC games... Leaving success upfront.. He can always drift forward to partner success |
