With 6 days before the kick off of 2015 FIFA Women World Cup, Freekick Naija examines some veteran women Footballers who have made name for themselves in the past and will also be showcasing their talents in this year's mundial in Canada. HOMARE SAWA ( Japan ) Homare Sawa will be earning her sixth world cup appearance for the Nadeshiko after narrowly included in Sasaki world Cup Squad at the last minute. Sawa will become the first player to appear in six straight world cup tournament in both male or female event. The 36years old led the Japanese national team as Captain to win the 2011 fifa women world cup in Germany by defeating the United States 3-1 via a penalty shoot out where she also emerged the winner of Golden Boot award and the Most Valuable Player at the tournament. The former FIFA Ballon holder has scored a total of 182 goals for the USWNT and is currently the leading all time International scorer for men and women The veteran striker will be using her vast experience to guide the United States in their title campaign in Canada. MARTA VIERA DA SILVA ( Brazil ) Marta Viera will be heading into the tournament as one of the most experienced prolific striker in the Brazilian squad. At 29, Marta has featured in three world cup tournament for the Auriverdes, and will eearning her fourth straight appearance when the showpiece commence in Canada. The Legendary striker has won FIFA Ballon award for a record of of six times more than any other player in the global competitio. Marta is the current top goal scorer for Brazil with 91 goals, and Vadao will be counting on her prolific finishings to go far in the tournament. CHRISTINE SINCLAIR ( Canada ) Christine Sinclair will Canada for this year's world cup as host nations. The 31year old has spent 15years with the national team, participating in three fifa women world cup. She is an all time winner of the Canada Soccer player of the year and has been honoured by Fifa as a nominee for world player of the year six times.
