modath:Please o mamas, may I come in here. In ideal settings straight forward pregnancy care and delivery do not have to be taken by an Obstetrician, Infact in the UK and Canada, midwives play this role significantly. So it is not illegal or unauthorised for a family physician to take deliveries. Finally a family physician in the US is not a GP as per Nigerian standards where a GP has no postgraduate qualifications. He is a specialist with at least 3 years of postgraduate specialisation. 5 Likes 1 Share |

When you do not know ask people who know. He is a board certified family physician and his practice includes Obstetrics and Child Care. It means that he specializes in Obstetrics and Child Care. Contact doctors in US to explain things to you since you are ignorant. US based Doctors in the house please step in What did you serve. Tarnishing a good mans image? You said he neglected your friend that was why i brought up that incident that he rushed to my sisters house to deliver my baby to show that he is not as bad as you are painting him to be! What is your business if i paid or not? Can see you specialise in ameboism.... this matter you are carrying on your head didn't even happen to you. I am sure if i tell you want happened afterwards you will add salt and pepper and start broadcasting it. Sorry you do not qualify... modath: 7 Likes |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by modath(f): 4:46pm On May 31, 2015 |
dakotchic: You can definitely contribute, we are all here to share and can learn from each other..... The bone of contention here is that this Dr left this person when it became obvious that the VB he was hoping for wasn't going to pan out... He has LIMITATIONS. As i submitted earlier, i had a relative who used to deliver babies with zero medical skills..... Hausa fulani teenagers dont even go for one ANC and deliver at home, thats not an issue... All i know is that one of the reasons people give for going to the US to have their babies, i dont believe anyone will knowingly choose a family medicine practitioner over an ob gyn, no ma |

ejisky: This rejoinder is laughable but will not be provoked into giving more details, continue with your home service jack of all trades Dr and his practice that includes obstetrics and child care .... Every other Dr that has been broadcasted on this thread all have their certification specifically in ob gyn but you are seeing the amebo... abeg have some seats. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by ejisky: 4:57pm On May 31, 2015 |
Your initial assertion was that he was not even licensed/ qualified at all.... now the issue is the rejoinder? lol please take several seats back and allow US based doctors to educate you its obvious you need it modath: |

modath:Ma'm personally I will, Infact I will chose a nurse sef! But that's if he is more affordable and the index pregnancy is uncomplicated and is probably my 2nd or 3rd pregnancy. That being said, most people who come on here are out for cheap/affordable hospitals and doctors and not particularly for better health care, cos the quest is mostly for the pali and every other thing is extra. If it weren't we should all be on a thread looking for how to give birth in Finland or Sweden which have better health indices than the US ok. And again there are other doctors that have been mentioned here who are not Obgyns please e.g. Dr Soyoola 7 Likes 1 Share |

4teelaw:No dear a C-section isn't straightforward delivery even though a family physician may be licensed to do some C/S. I do not know his personal limitations as per that but emergency first time c/s can be done by an FP. dakotchic: I wasn't going to respond to the defence minister anymore but i appreciate this that you posted about limitations which is what i hope "they" got but NO... This Dr 1.Collected deposit for the service, 2. Became incommunicado after he saw that it was beyond his reach. 3.The person in question had to go to the ER. No one plans for complications, of course poo happens but one wants to be rest assured your dr will be there all the way... You also mentioned not minding a nurse, why not but not when there is a pre existing condition, and i believe Dr Soyola will not accept a case that has some slight hiccups, receive deposit with the hope that he will be able to wing it and take off like a bird when the tree branch begins to waver...... |

deposit for the service, 2. Became incommunicado after he saw that it was beyond his reach. 3.The person in question had to go. .. [/quote] Now that's bad practice! Not because he is a family physician but because he acted as a bad doctor, who doesn't know his limitations and how to be sincere to his patients and when to ask for help! |

Not always true. June 15th-Sept 15th is considered peak period for airlines, so you might not get cheaper tickets in August. If your trip is after Sept 15, you might be lucky cos sometimes airlines have promos for immediately after the peak period, although those tickets usually have way too many restrictions. Also remember that the dollar rate can still go up and ticket prices will be affected. chloe7: 2 Likes |

Popri: Don't mind me, *use hand cover face* its the "teenagers" I was trying to qualify and just tagged a whole tribe. My bad.. @ ifax is my kind of person, calling someone out in a constructive manner, apologies once again. When we talk about uneducated, my relative was a local midwife and I remember when I was a bit young (on holidays then wit my late Gmum) thinking to myself, is it not hospitals that our health education text "says" babies come from!! |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by Popri(f): 7:25pm On May 31, 2015 |
And just to add to the whole US system, a board certified family physician isn't restricted to a particular group of patients..Family medicine entails rotations in all the departments and the consultant could choose to have a fellowship in obgyn, surgery etc where he will be licensed to perform some procedures esp CS, deliveries, etc in obgyn..He is still certified and not doing over sani per se, as that cannot be tolerated in the US health system, they are highly regulated, and litigation rate is high, no Dr would want to be litigated. However, no matter what, some Drs will still do wrongs things anywhere they find themselves if they have poor ethical conduct. For this Dr in question, if he did that to the above said woman, she has every right to do as it pleases her cos that is outright misconduct. A good Dr is he/she that knows his/her strengths and weaknesses despite professionalism and should take responsibility for all actions taken. As stated too, trained midwives do excellently in deliveries and will immediately refer to an Obstetrician in cases of imminent complications or high risk pregnancies, we have the right to choose the Dr to use as we have individual preferences, but study carefully and know what will suite u best.. I always wish everyone the BEST of care in this American journey but having a tangible bad review for any Dr, hospitall, airline, accomodation, or POE is a red flag for me in any case as this birthing journey will have to be worth it at the end of the day.. 5 Likes |

Popri: Turkish is generally cheaper than the other 3 Euro airlines that ply the abuja route i.e AF,BA & Lufthansa. Just input your POE and compare... mine is chicago & it has barely changed from the price we got 1st wk of April that my ticket was purchased. |
