Sad.It's indeed a system failure but we all should take the blame. We should push our leaders to do more.Send you petition to the appropriate quarters and follow it up. The problem started with the hospital you gave birth in.Why would they discharge a 7mth old baby after 2days?That child still needed to be monitored. The jaundice must have started when you got home and unfortunately you didn't detect it on time till the child started convulsing. I can't blame the public hospitals you went to,the honest truth is that there is no space like they said. The hospitals are not enough to take care of the population.I know because i work in one. The doctors you saw in LUTH could not have been students. They were probably house officers and even then, they ideally should have a medical officer with them. I want to advise everyone. It may cost you some more money but try to get registered with a standard private hospital. You could use a general hospital for routine treatments but once you know that the condition is not being handled well,go to the standard private hospital.A standard private hospital should be able to handle a pre-term and take care of jaundice. Also don't hesitate to get a second opinion with your test results. We have the internet now so read up on health issues especially the one that affects you.It helps you make quick decisions concerning your health. It doesn't mean you take over the job of a health professional or self-medicate however. 6 Likes |

This is SAD, we are living in a failed state. I lost my first Baby (Son) last year during birth due to the failure of OYO STATE GENERAL HOSPITAL MATERNITY CENTER at Ibadan. No personnel on duty to attend to my wife and the baby couldn't make it. Tears rolled down my eye, reading this. I wrote to the state government but never got a response. I pray that God will comfort you and your family 7 Likes 1 Share |

This is very sad So sorry for your loss. The doctor who discharged your premature baby was at fault, so also is the govt. Good healthcare is a big problem in Nigeria I hope your petition reaches the right places and changes are made. it pains me that many of these govt officials have their own health checks and treatment abroad while their own people are dying at home needlessly. 2 Likes |

Be strong brother!!! It's hard and unimaginable your loss must feel. BUT BE STRONG FOR YOUR WIFE!! SHE NEEDS YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER BROTHER!! BE STRONG BROTHER !! BE STRONG!!! Wishing you the strength to bear this... I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. |

These are one of the reasons I want to continue my life abroad..health sector is one sector that has failed completely throughout the country... May God purnish all the ministers, commisioners, permanent secretaries of the ministries of health that have misappropriated funds thereby killing many in nigeria... 2 Likes 1 Share |

It is God that can only rescue this nation from the cabals in all facets of the system from deliberaye manipulation that has caused untold hardship and fatal losses to the citizenry. While I sympathize with the writer I wish to share my sad experience too. In 2010 my niece, Bukola Ayanbeku who just Graduated from one of the prestigeous univeraities in England just came home to spend a few weeks before her convocation. Some days in Nigeria, she complained of malaria and was rushed to the LAUTRCH teaching hospital, she needed oxygen to breath. Believe me, in the entire health institutions in Osogbe, both private and government owned there was no single cylinder. That was how we lost a First Class graduate in that family to system failure. 4 Likes |

So Fashola did not improve the health care in Lagos, he was busy fighting GEJ? My condolence to the family but the blood of that infant will find Fashola. One thing am sure of is that in the state Akpabio govern that can't happen. |

May God give you the fortitude to bear this loss it's so painful when you know you took a whole lot of precautions right from day one and then just because of system failure, you start wondering where you went wrong or what you did wrong. I'm really sorry about your baby, God is your strength, amen. 1 Like |
