1miccza: Why must Nigeria go nuclear? Are there are no other alternatives to generate energy that could cause little or no havoc to human beings? |

opeaceo: Well nuclear energy would definitely solve not just one but a major part of our energy issues |

1miccza:There are other forms of energy that would solve part of our energy issues. We haven't exploited hydroelectricity, when we do, 45% of our energy issues would be solved. |

miquelon:ii never said we must start with a mega station... ii reiterate the word "pilot", starting with a state or two. opeaceo:ii dont know ur experience with nuclear energy but bet mee iits the solution for now, other source of power supply can also be added for optimal electricity output. people with the heart of too scared to take risks dont do well as an entrepreneur, and also note that the holy book also quote that "Where there is no vision the people perish." — Proverbs 29:18 |
ii never said we must start with a mega station... ii reiterate the word "pilot", starting with a state or two. I get what you mean, a pilot is the best way to start but do we have anything close to the prerequisites we need? It would have to be a newly built independent grid to connect to. Given the existing's deficiency. That's a lot of investment just for a pilot. Very hard to convince investors |

What do uu suggest, that we fold our hands and watch the citizens of this country be starved of electricity? Kanji and iits likes we're also built from scratch uu know.. with a non corrupt gov ii believe achieving the subject iis simplified. Sadly the quote below might just be our fate in Nigeria... "Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover." Mark Twain, author |

vimi: I like your gusto. It's achievable with the right govt. Once the govt proves it's credibility. Anything is possible |

This is a comment I made on this thread concerning nuclear power plant There is no time we are ever gonna be ripe for such investment knowing the country we belong to. While Nigeria lacks that maintenance culture, it is time the govt takes it serious to invest in sections of Engineering such as Maintenance Engineering starting now so that we become used to it before the nuclear power plant is constructed in 2035. Try with the 'little' we have such as roads, existing thermal power and hydro power stations, existing facilities till the Nigerian populace is satisfied with the way we handle things. We can't keep depending on foreigners to help us maintain our facilities. |

@OP don't mind Nigeria with visionless leaders. 5-6yrs ago NAEA advertised job placement which I also appled but till date nothing is heard of them.. If after the recruitment and work kick start in nuclear enrichment for energy generation, I believe we would by now be at the middle of somewhere. I hope federal government would sit and review that powerful alternate source of energy. |

I'm sorry to say dis, but d truth is our country is not yet fit to maintain a nuclear plant... Many of u dnt knw wht it means, u only talk abt d advantage wch is 24hrs light..hurray, buh do u knw it has serious risk dat cud endanger lives n render lots of properties useless... We r talking abt radioactive elements here n also radioactive waste, hw do we manage dat, we can't even keep up wit security (boko) we want to handle nuclear plant... If Boko com bomb d plant nko, radiation everywhere... Pls dnt let us tink it 4 nw... Dnt compare ursef wit India n south afrika una no reach dem abeg... My 1kobo |
