kblisious:Look towards your strong ties to home, proof that you will return after your visit. A letter of leave from your employer is good. So is managed landed property. Being single is difficult. You will also have to work out your finances to convince the visa officer. |

Dear Experienced Travellers, Here's my story and i hope it's not too long and boring. THIS WILL BE MY FIRST TIME APPLYING FOR A VISA MYSELF. My apointment is this week, I have only EVER been to Brazil(2014) for the world cup. I spent about 3 weeks. I am an Engineering Graduate. I am 27years old. I am NOT married, but i have a son. (3 years old) I am into real estate. I build houses, sell them and i also build for clients. I have lots of landed properties, houses and plots. In my account statement i printed on Thursday, my account balance in one of my banks is about N24 million. I have booked a four star hotel in Miami beach. (I am actually going to Miami to spend about one month). I have documents of some of my properties. I travelled at about this time last year too. When work is slow. Can anybody advise my chances ? Being that i am not married and i do not receive salary. My business is not even registered. I work as a sole trader. My bank statement for the past years clearly shows payments for supplies and payment of wages to my workers as well. Abeg somebody should please advise. NOTE: I am only able to state these figures my Nairaland ID is new. I created a new one solely for this purpose. THANKS PEOPLE.. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by Nobody: 7:17pm On May 31, 2015 |
stboff you ought to register your business because how are you able to prove everything you are saying without proof of ownership of the business and since that is your major source of income, depending on the v.o you will meet he might ask for work strength, company account statement and personal savings, it means you can't even near the uk embassy at all because they apply the subjective test while the u.s embassy uses the objective test and in some cases subjective |

chloe7: Part of reasons i am going to the states is to see how i can start importing vehicle parts/vehicles from there. I recently bought a commercial property i would love to establish my business in. I have applied for company registration but it isn't out yet. Is is not possible to convince them via my bank account statement? perhaps if they see the kind of credit/debit transactions that should convince them of my industry and my financial buoyancy here in Nigeria. I heard they don't even look at people's bank accounts. Is this true ? I am still trying to read through most people's transcripts. I am yet to find a single person. Almost everyone that has been granted are married. |

stboff:they rarely check documents depending on the v.o that interviews you, it might be rigorous and it might be a breeze, we never can tell |

Re: Usa Visit Visa by Nobody: 8:51pm On May 31, 2015 |
Well you can either go alone first and then with family later or with family once and for all, but you know visa fees for family is quite on the high side and the whole family getting refused will be really sad but you can just still try your luck maybe alone first and then if you going alone doesn't work, go with family. favouredgirl: |

Re: Usa Visit Visa by LadyGuinivere: 11:12pm On May 31, 2015 |
stboff:Em! I remember reading on this thread that car importation as a reason for travel is a no no. Folks with that reason always get refused. Brazil is a good one. Single people with good ties get visa. Now, u may not be registered but does your business have documentary trail? Then carry it and tell the VO the exact nature of your business. Favouredgal I align with Chloe. A cursory look thru this thread will show u prior family travel is very key. Your options are to 1. Go alone 2. Get travel history with the whole family Holluwai abeg where did you get the info that you need to wait a bit to apply for visa with your passport? U can head straight to GTbank from immigration if you are minded to do so |

stboff:First Bolded, Red flag dont even mention it to the VO its straight denial Second Bolded, they believe most document presented are fake as such they dont bother checking Third Bolded, It depends on how you present your case and largely the VO you meet on the day |

keni: If I may ask, why is importatíon of vehicle a straight refusal? |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by keni: 10:53am On Jun 02, 2015 |
Ess: I cant place my hands on what it is exactly but its one of the categories of reasons that get people denied, I saw it first hand on the day of my interview |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by stboff: 12:54pm On Jun 02, 2015 |
Alright folks, i guess you guys were right. I got DENIED. I was full of confidence in my interview, but the lady just typed and denied me VISA. No biggie tho, i've got some other countries to try. I really need a vacation. Any good location people ? The USA can eat dust, i don't see how/why not being married/young should be a major criteria for denial. They are the reason people go about faking documents, pictures and fake seminars and conferences. When you go genuinely they don't listen. Anyone with Australia experience ? The UK would be another option but to me that place is as dull as a grave-yard until the English premierleague starts. How about Europe ? do they honour visitor visas easily? plus can i use one EU visa to tour Europe ? Any advice will be appreciated inclusive of the time it takes to process VISA. I am only free to travel this JUNE/JULY/AUGUST/SEPTEMBER. Thanks. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by Nobody: 1:01pm On Jun 02, 2015 |
Stboff please can you post a full transcript of your interview? Plus I don't think you should just give up on your application to the u.s embassy just like that, if you had come here before hand it would have helped a great deal, you came to the thread last minute, and again the uk embassy is a no go area for you because you can't prove your source of income, the uk embassy takes company registration, vat and tax personal and they use it as a major reason for denial same as E.U countries, the only country you could scale through is the USA embassy and you didn't scale through so it will be pretty difficult for you to get a visa and as soon as you register the business you can't just carry your documents to go and apply straight because the business is seemed to be a new one. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by colored(m): 1:13pm On Jun 02, 2015 |
stboff:sorry man. there are gazillion countries better than the US when it comes to having an unforgettable vacation. since you really need a vacation, why not try island countries? must it always be US, UK, Canada, etc? kindly post your transcript and where you had your interview. did the vo ask for any doc? |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by stboff: 1:23pm On Jun 02, 2015 |
chloe7: Thanks Chloe, wish i can remember most of the conversation. Perhaps it may help other people, but truth is people who really didn't answer well got their VISA. I have this believe they pre-approve people before the interview itself. VO: Greetings... ME: Responded. then showed her my passport as per her request. VO: What are you going to the USA for ? ME: For Vacation. VO: Where in the USA are you going? ME: Miami, Florida. VO: Why Miami? ME: I'd be staying in Miami Beach. I love the setting. VO: Have you travelled outside Nigeria before ? ME: Yes, Brazil. for the worldcup. VO: What Cities in Brazil did you visit ? (Now i was like, of what relevance is this? just open the damn passport.. lol) ME: Sao Paulo, Rio De Jeniro, Cuiba, Curitiba, Brasilia. VO: What do you do ? ME: I am an Engineer. VO: What Engineer ? ME: Petroleum Engineer, but i am into Real Estate. I design, build and resell. VO: How much do you earn in a month, ME: I can't tell per month, but i can give you an annual average. VO: Okay, go on. ME: About 20 - 25 Mil. VO: Can i see your bank account statement ? ME: (At this time i was happy i've killed it cos my banking activities plus balance(23mil) confirms my story). VO: Are you married ? ME: No, but i've got a son. VO: Unfortunately, we are sorry blah blah blah, blah blah blah. ME: Oya, gimme my passport make i go first find food chop first. I didn't eat b4 going to d interview and 8:30 turned 10:30. Ofcourse i didn't say the last line....... If i decide to go back to Brazil(Sin city) i don't think i will come back the same. The kind of THINGS they have there is just tooooooooooo hmmmmmmm...... I've got friends and family scattered around Europe. Can i get an invitation ? if i put myself as the sponsor, will income source pose another problem? thing is i have documents showing my business transactions including buying and selling of properties. The only thing is i don't yet have a registered company. But this is naija na, who registers a company to have a property link, look for buyers and get a commission? Well, i wasn't anticipating the short burst of success tho. Thanks Chloe, what's your own story. Got a VISA yourself or searching for? This thread is 222 pages. Perhaps you would have mentioned your story previously, i just haven't read. NB: Quoting figures is not a case of show or stupidity it's cos i am completely anonymous. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE. Oh lest i forget, i did mention in my ONLINE FORM that i will be importing vehicles from the USA too. Thanks all. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by Nobody: 1:57pm On Jun 02, 2015 |
stboff I think the part that messed the whole thing up was the whole importation thing you mentioned in the form because with your transcript everything went well except that part you can give it another shot if you don't mind , don't be too verbose when filling your form is another thing i've learnt, well i'm still searching for visa and my interview is next week the 10th, i've been refused twice, i've been to the uk,europe and dubai, if you need a vacation bad then go to Seychelles it is really pretty there and it is visa free for Nigerians and also the maldives . |
