The Ijaws Nation make more clamor of our Coexistence because of the crude but the chunk of it comes from Akwa Ibom not Bayelsa or Delta State.

Is that why you allowed your son to mess up the country? Sorry, but you may have to endure others ruling you first as you have ruled them. If you are serious, you should have clamour for this when Jonathan was there. This will have just been a continuation.

When Jonathan, their son was the president, they didn't think of renegotiating their stand, but as the good people of Nigeria who want good for the nation kicked him out, they are now thinking of renegotiation. Trash.

I only smell destruction for those groups calling for independence ... One thing they failed to know is that , all this region had been given allocation and security votes but nothing to show for hence the same people called your sons didn't see it fit to rule you well ... But the leverage is there since you can always go to other regions in Nigeria to have relief .. But with this call for isolation the situation would be dire as their wouldn't be a place for easy succur ... And the dominance by your sons would be severe with no one to help you.... One thing is certain for those of us whose parents have broken the barrier of tribe and marry people from other tribe.. We would be having dual , trio etc citizenship. Depending on how mixed you are ... coolcoolcoolcool

Useless empty threats from greedy people. All the federal allocation they've been giving them, what did they use it to do?

cheesy cheesy cheesy
Jokers. Your son organised a powerless National Conference no long ago. Why didn't he allow the unity of Nigeria to be discussed?

You'd need a Sovereign National Conference to discuss this. Something your son worked against. All of a sudden you need to revisit this issue.

cheesy Jokers.

I hate Nigeria and everything it represents. The thought that it even has an illiterate as president among sterling people is just unfathomable! I'm a Rivers man and prefer in all definitions to knit with the Ibos in Biafra than to associate with the people who have sworn to remain perpetually backward! If nobody talks about you, then you're nobody. Do an assessment, how many times do you read about events up north, compare with the number of times Rivers State churns up online, then you understand what I'm talking about!

....and Jonathan would have granted these REQUEST FOR SEPARATION if he thought it was the best for his people or is he not the Best President Nigeria will ever have? grin grin undecided undecided

The fact that Jonathan just kept the Result of the CONFAB he wasted Billions of Naira on, our money, ON HIS SHELF to gather DUST, shows that he knows what sufferings come to the NDelta, if the Igbos lay hands on them and the little oil remaining there! grin grin grin

Be Careful what you wish for...... you might just have it.

Agitate sensibly for more development in terms of clean water, good roads, education Electricity, regular and cheaper fuel.... but this "IT IS OUR OIL or WE GO BREAK AWAY" nonsense, is not flying! You no be Porcelain Plate o!

Yenagoa—Eminent sons and daughters of the Ijaw nation have agreed to re-examine the state of the Ijaw ethnic nationality in Nigeria, noting that they will immediately initiate the process of renegotiating the basis of their coexistence with other ethnic nationalities.

They disclosed this position at a Pan Ijaw Stakeholders Summit with the theme “The Ijaw Agenda Beyond May 29, 2015,” held between May 27-29, at Dr. Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre and Ijaw House, Yenogua, the Bayelsa State capital.

Co-hosted by the Ijaw National Congress, INC, and the Bayelsa State Government, the event which witnessed the presentation of papers by notable Ijaw scholars and other resource persons, was graced by more than 1, 500 people drawn from 78 Ijaw clans, traditional institutions, professional and socio-political bodies among others.

The summit in a 13-point communiqué, signed by its Chairman, Prof. Nelson Brambaifa and Secretary, Pastor Power Aginighan, however, thanked Nigerians for the rare opportunity given Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to preside over the affairs of the country.

Among other things the Summit noted that “the Ijaw nation today is at a critical moment in its history and called on all Ijaw leaders, sons and daughters to be united at this auspicious moment for the challenges ahead, adding that “it has expressed its desire for self determination, total rejection of the unjust legal order that robs resource owners of rights to their resources.”

Synergise with BIAFRA for a confederacy and push for a referendum at the United nation. It is best option for the ijaw and other minorities in the Ss.

Hmmm

Like most tribes in Nigeria...the Ijaw are ready to talk about how the money is shared....but about good governance, good leadership,etc.....silence.

Look....an Ijaw man is not in charge anymore. But in your states, you have LG chairmen, Governors...who are Ijaw. I know what I am saying is not going to be popular.....but why don't you go home and tell them to do the needful things...like investing in education...esp technical education, innovation, and technology....so that your state can be really developed.

And what I am saying to the Ijaws, I am saying to all Nigerians...especially the Hausas,Yorubas and Igbos. Go and tell your governors and LG chairmen to run your state/LG well. All this talk about restructuring Nigeria....it is because we are running out of money to share thanks to corruption at all levels...including ironically by some of those new advocates for restructuring....that we are now crying for restructuring. Meanwhile...we have more serious problems. And nothing is being done about them at all.

(Nigerians won't do the above because they prefer to share money....rather than to work for money. If we had committed to a programme of industrial development since the 1970's...when we actually had an industrial sector.....Nigeria would have been a world leader by now.Not first world...but at the level of an Asian Tiger. But Nigerians prefer to be kept wives of rich and wealthy men grin).

You cannot restructure Nigeria without restructuring the people....and if you persist...you will end in destruction.

I wonder....what solutions have Ijaw people designed for the pollution in their soils/waters? Developing such solutions could provide jobs and make many people prosperous.Plus....why can't Nigeria build machines/refineries for our oil industry? Why are we waiting for the Whites and Asians to save us? Why aren't Rivers and Bayelsa leaders in oil industry technology? Why isn't anything being done about bad leadership? Why?

Nigerians need to restructure themselves. Or else....we can have the SNC /True federalism today....and tomorrow, it would just be old wine in new bottles. The exploiters will just change uniforms and keep on exploiting.

Time we stopped blaming others and started blaming ourselves. That's where the true federalism/restructuring starts.

My opinion.

obviously you seem not to understand the gravity of the matter at stake this is not about Asari or Tompolo it is about an ethnic nationality.

then Abuja which is the capital is already located in the north this mean other regions are the ones to secede not the north itself or can you give an example where a region secede with the capital?

Its now becoming clearer to the ijaws that Ojukwu was not wrong after all. His fight was for the greater good of the people of the then eastern region, but some of their fathers both dead and living blew that in a act of sabotage. Now, its basically difficult for them to succeed alone without the help of other ethnic groups closer to them.

I will like them to go if they want, let the hausas too be on their own and yoruba people too go their own way.........like thats the only way forward for d country. Ijaw people so very much belief in the oil on their land, only if they can manage it, thats another question, but as far as i know, the offshore is not gonna belong to them alone, gonna be shared btw d yorubas and d whole south-south.

What was the 'Ijaw Agenda' before May 2011

@bold: what have the just Ijaw leaders done with the 'little' which trickled down to them over the years?

The result the little produced will determine if there problems is the unjust legal order or the greed of their leaders.
