mrham03:quite agree wit u..though ezeh is a striker, an inteligent and smart striker at that not a mid-fielder. On iheanacho's role in that game he was basicaly silent after the assist he gave, i felt manchester city av succeded in turnin him away from an attackin midfielder to an full attacker which affected his game to an extent, and judging from the 4-4-2 unsual formation of manu garba also contributed more to iheanacho's inpotency in that game. I just hope they bounce back..unfortunately North korea will be the victim of this forth comin mouling by the eagles. 2 Likes |

[b][size=14pt]Success, Ifeanyi Matthew miss Flying Eagles training[/size]  The Flying Eagles have put behind them the disappointment from the loss to Brazil and Tuesday morning’s training at the Manukorihi Park was highly spirited. However, striker Isaac Success, who on Monday became the first Nigerian player to score against the South Americans at this level of international football, and Ifeanyi Matthew stayed out of the training. Success complained of tightness on his hamstring, while Matthew is nursing a left foot injury he suffered in the Brazil clash. Giwa FC goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo was outstanding as an outfield player for the second team as he dished out some long-range passes. The team will have their final training for the Korea match on Wednesday morning. Tuesday cheer for the squad came when they enjoyed a meal of pounded yam and vegetable soup provided by Auckland-based James Rotimi and his family. Rotimi from the school of engineering AUT University drove down five hours with his wife, Funmi, and their three children to serve the Flying Eagles a delicious lunch. “My wish is that we get this type of lunch all the way to the end of the tournament,” dreamed defender Izu Omego, who has struggled to adapt with the dishes served in both Germany and New Zealand. [b][size=14pt]Americans outclass hosts to advance[/size]  USA are through to the last 16 of the FIFA U-20 World Cup with a game to spare after a comprehensive 4-0 win over hosts New Zealand at Auckand's North Harbour Stadium. The margin of victory in no way flattered Tab Ramos's impressive side, who became the first side to advance to the knockout phase thanks to a brace from Rubio Rubin either side of goals from Emerson Hyndman and Paul Arriola. The Americans were the more accomplished side from the very start and the warning signs were there for New Zealand when Arriola forced Oli Sail into an fine save inside five minutes. From the resultant corner, the deadlock was broken, with Rubin converting from a matter of centimetres after Bradford Jamieson IV had turned a Matthew Miazga header towards goal. The Junior All Whites looked vulnerable every time the US attacked and had Sail to thank for keeping them in contention when he pulled off a tremendous save to tip away Cameron Carter-Vickers' curling effort. But the Kiwi keeper soon went from hero to villain. With 12 minutes until half-time, he spilled a seemingly routine through ball under pressure from Rubin, allowing Hyndman to gleefully take advantage with a low shot into the now-partially guarded net. Sail went some way to atoning for his error two minutes into the second period when he denied the lively Rubin, but USA's pressure was unrelenting and it was no surprise when they moved out of sight. The goal that made sure of the points was a thing of beauty too, with Paul Arriola racing through on to a fine pass from Gedion Zelalem and drilling home an inch-perfect right-foot shot off the inside of the right-hand post. New Zealand did carve out some late chances to claim a consolation, the best of which was headed wide by captain Bill Tuiloma. But their night of misery was rounded off with six minutes left to play when Rubin capitalised on defensive confusion to sneak in between Jesse Edge and Adam Mitchell and convert from close range. The hosts will now hope for a big win in their final Group A match against Myanmar to keep alive their hopes of advancing, while USA can enjoy their encounter with Ukraine safe in the knowledge that their place is assured. There was a lot of panic in the first game, too many mistakes. I believe, once they get a win under their belt. they'd relax and play. We should consider getting idowu back ... Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, had no positional discipline. The biggest blame in my opinion, goes to picture boy, captain, Enaholo and Ifeanyi Ifeanyi but we know they can play better. We will play brazil in the final. That's my prediction if Brazil get there. 3 Likes |

[b][size=14pt]Ghana leave Argentina in trouble[/size]  Record U-20 World Cup champions Argentina suffered their first defeat in 19 FIFA U-20 World Cup games as Ghana secured a heart-pumping 3-2 win in Wellington. Goals from Benjamin and Samel Tetteh put the African side in command, before Yaw Yeboah's penalty seemingly sealed the result, though late Giovanni Simeone and Emiliano Buendia goals meant a tense finish, but nothing more. A meeting of the two heavyweights in Group B, once the pair got into their stride they put on a show of attacking football the fixture warranted, with 44 shots on goal across 98 minutes of end-to-end action. Samuel Tetteh was the first to test Augusto Batalla in the Argentine goal, who was set to have a busy half. However it was the South Americans who would come closest in the early exchanges, with Adrian Cubas' low shot forcing Lawrence Ati into a fine save, before Angel Correa worked his way into the box only to lose his balance and fire over. The pendulum swung the way of Ghana from there on though, with Clifford Aboagye and Godfred Donsah forcing Batalla into saves. On the stroke of half-time Ghana found the breakthrough. A quick break saw the ball rolled into the path of Benjamin Tetteh, with the Tudu Mighty Jets man's fierce deflected shot near-unsaveable. Samuel Tetteh almost made it two in stoppage time, but Batalla's save kept the gap down and Argentina flew out of the blocks when they returned. Simeone directed Leonardo Rolan's cross just wide, before Rodrigo Moreira's header forced Ati into one of the saves of the tournament so far. The six-time champions were on the front foot, but they suddenly found themselves shoved back off balance after a lightning break. Samuel Tetteh led the counter and, with Aboagye in support, the ball was rolled into the path of the Black Satellites captain who stroked it into the far corner. While it looked a tall order for the South American champions to redress the balance, that prospect disappeared almost entirely when Facundo Monteseirin brought down Samuel Tetteh in the area. Yeboah slotted it away to leave the Africans looking in control. A rare error by Ati gifted Simeone a simple goal and it looked too little to late, but continued pressure saw Emiliano Buendai halve the deficit and mean Ghanaian nails were chewed in the stands. All those changes of time zone have meant I'm not in top condition.” Out of context, this self-assessment sounds like the excuse of someone who has had a bad day at the office. But coming from Valerii Luchkevych, a man who helped transform Ukraine from a team lacking cutting edge to one operating with surgical precision, it makes you wonder what's still in the locker. If helping orchestrate a six-goal second-half avalanche against Myanmar is him operating without firing on all cylinders, fans are in for a treat when he's fully operational. Following the goalless draw with New Zealand in the opening game of the FIFA U-20 World Cup it was evident that the Eastern Europeans were short of that extra spark going forward - the cog to get the watch moving in unison. The only problem that day was that wasn't even in the same country as his team-mates. Just over two days before the tournament kicked off, Luchkevych had sat on the bench in Warsaw at the UEFA Europa League final. Sadly for the Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk winger, his side fell to a 3-2 loss against Sevilla, meaning his trip south wasn't undertaken on a post-victory high. But aside from a bit of jet-lag, he insists there is no cup final hangover. “Of course it was a real disappointment to see us lose in Warsaw,” he told FIFA.com. “But I knew I was flying to New Zealand so I've put it behind me and it won't be on my mind while I'm out here.” Luchkevych touched down at half-time in the match with the Junior All Whites and agreed with coach Oleksandr Petrakov that he would have to wait until half-time against Myanmar to make his World Cup bow. But his impact was almost instantaneous. After providing a helping hand for the opening goal shortly after his introduction, he truly announced himself three minutes later with a delightful chip over Myo Min Latt. When complimented on the quality of that finish, the bashful 19-year-old from Zaporizhia could only muster a smile and an embarrassed laugh. On the field, though, his feet did plenty of talking. Did anyone notice how Brazil had the same routine for every corner but it was not picked up.. They draw the player on the first post out by using a runner... This prevents the man on the front post from clearing the corner if it comes low.... Every corner went to the same place. Someone on the bench should have picked that up. 3 Likes |

I've checked the match schedule till June 20 and I can say that there's no way Brazil will make the final if they top this grp and we finish 2nd. Why? because we'll be waiting 4 them in the semifinals... So u see Sir, a Nigeria/Brazil final wont happen. lardy96:unlike u im not a plastic fan, the coach made a mistake in his formation in the match against brazil resulting to the defeat, lets play that match again brazil will not do a double over us. u dont play 3 strikers in a match against a team like brazil leaving ur midfield and defence vulnerable, that exactly was what the coach did. he choked upfront with 3 strikers thereby negletting the middle and the defence felt the brunt of the attacks from the Brazilians. if u watch and understand football very well u will understand what im talking about. this is the African champs we re talking about here, i can beat my chest and tell u that we will not lose any match again en-route to the final. these boys have gone 45 match unbeaten prior to our last match. i can see u re not a fan of these boys but one of those football watchers that criticize and lose hope when a team falter. bro believe in ur team, the boys have been stung, they ll fight like wounded lions from now, give it to my boys, they are good, forget the lose to Brazil. the land is green. Which keeper? homesteady:Will you recommend the same treatment to your son, brother, friend or any of your relatives if they where the keeper? That keeper is good and I believe the Coaches where not foolish to pick him out of the three. Lets not use one match to rate that keeper. Lets give him another chance. The guy is not that bad. If Success is not fit for the Korean game, I say Coach Manu Garba and his crew picks Nacho to lead the attack. We saw how he has developed into a top mask man at Man City. No doubt, Awoniyi is a great striker but I feel Nacho's finishing accuracy is ahead of him. I prefer Awoniyi coming in as a Super Sub, just as he did in the friendly games. Nacho playing any other role will make us miss the development he gained at the Etihad Campus of Man City. |
