AKS has money building the port will not be any challenge for them. It is high time our region began to think out of the box. They should start planning. Tell AKS Government why they should complete that sea port and the will deliver
They've always been part of us, stood firmly by us during the civil war even when our brothers from Rivers State chickened out
The Oba of Lagos brouhaha is an eye opener
building of any seaport is on the exclusive list..the state cannot do it alone

River Niger at that Northern boundary is narrow and divided by lands as a result we don't need a big budget bridge to connect Anambra to Kogi State.
Thinking about regional emancipation, that bridge will enhance commence and increase the trade volumes, what I mean is that instead of Northern traders from Kogi, Nassarawa, Gombe, Benue and Taraba going to Lagos to buy goods, they will head to the much closer Onitsha
The same way I am thinking that SE Governors should meet and find a way of getting a high grade road cutting from Akwa*Ibom deep sea port across Abia to Anambra. Such that we will not have need of moving our containers from Lagos
These states you mentioned come to Onitsha to buy their goods, even cameron, you need to see lorries fully loaded with finish goods going to middle-belt via Onitsha at night

Its a waste of resources because there is an existing Niger bridge to connect to those states and also second Niger bridge is already in the offing..

But people also do connect to those communities via speed boats. I saw them sometime the day I went to 3-3 area that was when I captured this picture..

Chino! It would't be too expensive like the 2nd Niger Bridge!.It is very narrow in the North of the State & it will be like Odo River Bridge built with #3b, but this can cost between 10 to 20billion Naira because it will have a rail track on it also!

The question is, what are the economic benefits of sinking up to 20B just to link a non economically viable communities in those states? I think the one that is most important to Anambra right now is the ongoing Otuocha-Ibaji-Abuja federal highway..

Federal back up is very important. Sea port is not all about building a port but economic policies to back it up.

Have you wondered why calabar port (biggest port in west Africa) is not functional and that of port harcout is currently under utilized with heavy concessional levies imposed to scare importers to already congested ports in Lagos Only oil companies can easily afford berthing in port-harcourt. Today another port is been proposed in Lagos to add to already existing Apapa and Tin can island ports.

Like I said earlier the biggest blunder by Jonathan was his inability to fine tune policies that will favour ports in the South-south regions, in his bid not to step on the Gambari toes he had postponed key policies till his next tenure. Today, he will know that procrastination is a thief of time!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Comply strictly with the recent directive, Obiano tells Commercial Motorcyclists.

Governor Willie Obiano, has warned Commercial Motorcyclists in the state to comply strictly with the recent directive by his administration, restricting their operations from specific routes across the state or risk being banned completely in the state.
Governor Obiano, gave the warning at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, when he signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Temply SYC Inspection Limited, for the establishment of an Ultra Modern Vehicle Inspection Centres, across the three major city locations in the state.
Correspondent Kenechukwu Ofomah reports that the six million United States dollar Memorandum Of Understanding is for the designing, construction and management of Vehicle Testing and Inspection garages at Nnewi, Awka, and Onitsha.

The sharing formular for the Inspection fees and profit between the state and the Investor, is forty-eight per cent and fifty-two per cent respectively, covering all the Inspection and road worthiness certificates and largely on the condition that the state will provide land at the three locations, each measuring approximately five thousand square metres.

Designed on a build, operate, maintain and transfer basis, the garages, shall revert to the State Government at the expiry of fifteen years, commencing from the date the investor started operations and is subject to the option of renewal for another ten years only on management terms to be negotiated by both parties.
Performing the function, Governor Obiano, said the project offers the prospect of great impetus in his efforts to secure the lives and property of Ndi Anambra through road safety.

The Governor, who noted that his administration had commenced its revolutionary strides in the state transport sector through sensitization programmes aimed at instilling discipline in the motoring public, said the establishment of Vehicle Inspection Centres, will help reduce accidents on the state roads by ensuring that vehicles that ply them are road worthy.
He further revealed that plans are ongoing at resuscitating driving schools and re-introducing road signs on the state roads to equip motorists with the necessary knowledge to safe driving.
Governor Obiano, pledged his total commitment towards ensuring that the project is realized on schedule, urging the investor to take off immediately with the signing of the MOU.

Earlier, the Chairman of ANSIPPA and Traditional Ruler of Umuoji, Igwe Cyril Enweze, explained that the project seeks to promote road safety and reduce accidents and vehicular emissions, with the associated health and environmental implications.
He also said that it will create direct and indirect jobs for the teeming youths in the state, as well as provide some kind of technology and expertise transfer, to the state transport sector as the vehicle

Inspection Officers under the project will undergo training on the functionality of the testing system.
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the Investing Company, Mr Segun Obayenda, extolled Governor Obiano’s genuine resolve to make life more meaningful for the people of the state which he noted is evident in his quick approval for the project and assured that they will deliver on schedule.

In a vote of thanks the State Commissioner for Transport, Mr Chuma Mbonu, described the realization of the Memorandum Of Understanding as a milestone in the state transport sector, adding that the centres when fully operational, will strengthen the operations of the state Vehicle Inspection Officers and give more meaning to Governor Obiano’s vision for safety on the state roads.

Yes inasmuch as I have my reservations about those MOUs I still think they are very nice and noble moves.

I know why am telling you this, Obiano is an investment minded governor, infact the dude know investment more than Obi but Obi is an astute businessman.

I like what Obiano is doing, ANSIPPA are following up every investment moves in the state and they are covering many grounds.

Anambra is seriously in business but to many capital projects begging to be completed.

Willie is really trying, some states are facing finacial turmoil, but when you come to Anambra all sectors are receiving attention, managing three cities and their subs, that is why when you complained about the slow paced of Onitsha mall I was shocked, you of all people? with little federal allocation, and he is carrying on with these projects, three malls, three flyovers, bridges, hotels, roads etc and all the contractors are on sites doing great, and he is paying civil servants promptly, to me he is the best manager,

Glad to know that, he need to start being serious with taxation, I don't mean multiple taxation but blocking loopholes where taxes are being channel to private pockets.

Anambra making 4Billion every month is not big in my estimate, if all the commercials banks, buildings, markets, companies, firms et al are properly taxed we will be as viable as Lagos.

Let's start first by digitalizing tax payment in Anambra.

if you may know, am an ibo man. am not a sadist as you guys think. i believe what is worth doing, is worth doing well. i confines in obiano that it will not be business as usual and not until its been exposed. but here nobody wants to talk about it.

i feel sad when i receive a kind of bad impressions from other tribes here that has visited there. all in the names of ibos as if we are all clueless and think like the 60's.

pita Obi would always like to cut corners and make things looks magnitude. at the end noting solid comes out from it.. go and check Amobi street by bida road gone bad after one
month commission.

take a glance at his gigantic mall at Abuja but is taking decade to complete the ones at Oka,Onitsha and nnewi..

then what do you really expect from the indigenous investors(?) they have to followed there Obi's route and here is Buddamonk complaning.

I suggest that large drainage should be taken into consideration like this my schematic design here..
