Its not just a church thing so your topic is obviously biased!

I think its important for Govt to regulate the establishment of religious houses. Churches particularly should be taxed in proportion to whatever comes as church income. And there should be capital base of a min. N200m... lolz for the erection of any religious building. These will go a long way to curb fake churches and wood/pako churches that litters our surroundings and subsequently make it an offence should any noise emanate from such religious building. All churches should borrow a cue from dis 'Awake People' Jehovah witness.

Please sir, I am not biased. I only expressed my concern over the plight I'm in. Besides if it was a mosque disturbing my sleep I will also state it here.

My point is that religion, be it Islam or Christianity should encourage good examples, not otherwise.

When I moved in here last year I asked the existing tenants what has been done I was told they laid complains to the landlord association. the noise reduced for awhile and resumed again.

After a careful observations I discovered the landlord associations patronize them.

You don't need to get the landlord association involved, neither do you need anyone else.

Report to Lasepa. They will conduct their own investigation and then issue a warning to the church. They will shut down the church if the problem persists after the warning.

i just hate d hypocracy of some nigerians, wen i served in yobe state,on fridays all major roads in geidam town were blocked and muslims pray on d road, yet pipo wont complain,but wen it come to d issue churches,they will b forming social critics.....

Am a Christain and I say authoritatively such thing is a disgrace to the personality of GOD. God is not deaf and not asleep why then do you hv to shout all in the name of praying and praising.Why become a nuisance Instead of blessing to the world. My opinion is a Law should be passed to stop all this madness

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) in conjunction with the Lagos State Task force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, yesterday Monday May 21, shut down two churches and two mosques in the state for noise pollution after numerous warnings to the religious centres to stop the noise.

The affected churches are: The Christ Chosen Church, Onipanu, and The Evangelical Apostolic Church.The affected mosques are Darusalam Mosque at Sabo, Yaba, and Ayegbesin Mosque at Mafoluku, Oshodi.

The people who live around the religious centres reported them and got the state government to do something about it. So please feel free to report noisy churches and mosques around your area to LASEPA. They take noise pollution very seriously...:-)

This is the best solution to the problem. Buy some horn speakers and connect to your home theatre, point it to the direction of the church or mosque and produce more noise . If the culprit is a church, play loud islamic music, and vice versa. You can never regret trying it and it costs you less than personally confronting them. You can resell the speakers after the entire operations.

Please good people viewing this thread.

I want to ask. Is it good for a so called church to be playing music at this hour of the day? A church that has its speakers placed outside the neighbourhood.

As I type this message, I am in my sitting room. I can't sleep because of the noise.

After this noise, by 4.30 5am they will wake up and start shouting on top of their voices commanding people to wake up and come for prayer.....but its not by force na.

Saturdays and Sundays are usually the worse.

But my worry is this....Can't they keep their speakers inside ? Can't they pray on their own without disturbing peoples sleep?

Is this what religion means

I do not mean to insult anyone but I think this isn't right.

The best solution that has been tested is as follows. Buy 2 or 3 horn speakers, connect to your home theater and point them in the direction of the noise-making church. Start to play some LOUD ISLAMIC MUSIC before and throughout their worship . Within 7 days, the church will approach you for an "amicable settlement". This is cheaper than personally confronting them and it is more effective. You can sell the speakers after concluding the operation. You can never regret taking this action.

And the Mods will not send this to FrontPage for other better reasonings....
