tpiadotcom: True but the nigerians outside Nigeria are low compared to the numbers inside Nigeria, and most are first to second generation Nigerians overseas any way. If your looking more current then I must say that I don't fully agree with your view that all Nigerians have some current mixture in their family, you must remember Nigeria is not America or Brazil where it is a multicultural/multiracial/multiethnic society or country it never was 1 Like |

tpiadotcom: True and I think cause most Nigerians are not concerned or already know or are comfortable who they are culturally in how they identify themselves 1 Like |

2prexios: Sade Adu, Nneka, caroline Ekanem, Lillian Bach, Ramsey Noauh, lola omotayo, are good examples cause they were all born in Nigeria but are all of mixed ethnicity, culture and race. People like that are so low in numbers in Nigeria 1 Like |

anonymous6: I think if you check every family in Nigeria, 99% will have somebody who is mixed. ie assuming you factor in Nigerians who do not live in Nigeria or who are resident outside of their ethnic origins. current time, not ancestry. |

anonymous6: ^^^^^^^^^ The post above by @anonymous is absolutely correct. @ tpia, I remember when I flew into Nigeria on a visit last year, I went through the Change of Name sections of some newspapers out of intense curiosity and I noticed that MOST Nigerian marry from within their ethnic groups. I zeroed in on Yoruba-Nigerians as one of my case studies and realised that on average, ONLY 1 in 10 Yoruba actually marry outside their ethnic groups on average. Most of the inter-ethnic marriges involved more of Yoruba men getting married to women from other ethnicities. From my observation of the Change of Name pages, More of the Yoruba got married to Edo and Delta state names. Also most of the Yoruba also married from mainly Anioma area of Delta, and to some extent, Akwa Ibom/Cross River or Rivers state women. 1 Like 1 Share |

Yuuup! Atleast as far as i know. There are a lot of others, but mostly in rural areas. In some places people aren't even allowed to marry outside their village. |

When it comes to Nigerian families having mixed race people, I'd say that the Kalabaris and Okrikas of Port Harcourt top the list. |

for the south perhaps [northerners would top those numbers], not sure if they have more than Igbos or Yorubas, but its possible. Its also likely the admixture would be from the father, instead of from the mother which is more common with the other two tribes mentioned. |
