To create a gig, register on fiverr and then click on 'start selling', then on 'create a new gig'

That's it, you've succeeded in creating a Gig.

A gig is just a summary of what you have to offer buyers. It can be based on any niche.
To create a valuable gig, just search for a service you can offer and a service you know the demand is high for. Then create a gig around it (there are so many write-ups on the basics of gig creation on the internet, Google is your friend). You can have more than one gig offering different or even similar services.
My gigs are based on legal letters, contracts, legal research and marketing research, and so far I've been consistently getting orders.

This question has been answered in our previous posts on this thread. Please check page 69 and others. In addition to that, you need to
1. Create a gig with good picture and great description of your services
2. Create a good video with catchy images for your gig (you can use PPT and convert it to video)
3. Check your pricing and the service attached to it ( you can start with a low price and later increase it) For example when I started, I offer 40 mins of research for $5. Now, it is 20 mins and I don't even use it again, I write custom orders for them.
4. Promote your gig on relevant Facebook pages and forums.

Freelancer.com charges can be high. Why do they choose to remove $5 or 10% from your funds anytime you accept a project you won?

That is their fees. I made sure the MasterCard l used for verification no longer has even one kobo in it as it is not linked to any of my bank accounts, it was an over the counter MasterCard and so freelancer only get their cut only when l am paid as they have no business with my bank accounts and once the client pay me, Freelancer collects their cuts l immediately head to withdraw funds to my skrill account...l can;t shout!

But unfortunately, I just found out that it is not possible for outsiders to send money to Nigerians using that payment system. Could someone please suggest how my client could pay me this money; for the person needs to pay me about $10....

Hmmm! circumventing freelancer's commission is not a good idea for the following reasons:
1. Your projects will remain open and other employers will think you have lots of work to do
2. You will not be able to build up your profile. Once payment is done outside, you cannot get a review for the project
3. When (1) and (2) happens, it will reduce you ratings (project completion rates) and your rankings will drop and your chances of winning more projects will drastically reduce.
4. You will not be able to apply for "preferred freelancer" program. (It is a program designed for selected freelancers to bid on top projects - usually from $1000 - $5000 and more projects).

So, think before you take that step.

Or should I tell the client to award me a fictitious project on freelancer so as to collect the money? which freelancer will take their own share ($5)

Yes, you can charge more.

Fiverr never imposes on sellers, whatever you decide to charge is totally up to you.

You can reduce the number of words you offer for $5. For instance, if you were offering 500 words for $5, you could reduce it to 250 words for $5.

You can also use your Gig extras to earn more per article. You could offer keyword research, photos and any other creative thing you can think of at extra costs to buyers.

But be careful, don't overdo it cos the competition on Fiverr is getting stiffer by the minute. You would want to make your services affordable and competitive regardless.

Tell him to hire you directly from your profile and pay through it. Once you start making lots of money, the commissions will not matter to you anymore. That is the way freelancer makes money from us. It is even worse on Fiverr, you pay 20% instead of 10. It is well, we just have to survive anyhow.

I realized a lot of thing I didn't quite do correctly and with the average review I got the orders were not just coming. I closed down the account and opened a new one. The result has been tremendous.

I wouldn't advice circumventing the charges at all. But if you want to alwaz do dat, den you nid to open a US based paypal acct or other country apart from nigeria.

Also note that even with dat , paypal will also charge u because he will be using the pay for goods and services to pay u the fund and not the send money to friends and family option

You have paypal funds to sell, contact us, will buy all off you and you will get instant payment.

Give us a test and u will be happy u did

it depends on the niche you are writing on but most importantly, ask your customer the number of WORDS. The number of words will determine how much you will charge!!
