Aisha Buhari may be known as a woman full of grace, elegance and class. But beyond that what lies ahead are stark contradictions, confusion and uncertainty.

While the President’s body language and actions tackle luxurious lifestyles, his wife, the First Lady, Aisha Buhari and his fifth daughter, Zahra Buhari have chosen to tow a certain path that does not conform to the gospel of the modest President.

Zahra Buhari

In February, earlier this year, Zahra Buhari, the fifth daughter of President Buhari and Aisha Buhari was thrown into the spotlight for the wrong reasons following pictures of her in a supposed expensive clothing store abroad. Several other pictures of Zahra flooded social media websites and rather than for the right reasons, they contradicted the claims of his father, President Muhammadu Buhari who declared his assets in December 2014.

“I have at least one million naira in my bank, having paid N5.5 million to pick my form from my party. I have around 150 cattle because I am never comfortable without cows. I have a house each in Kaduna, Kano, and Daura which I borrowed money to build. I never had a foreign account since I finished my courses in the USA, India and the UK. I never owned any property outside Nigeria. Never.” – General Muhammadu Buhari (Dec. 2014)

For the wrong reasons, Zahra Buhari’s luxurious taste revealed

Prior to his asset declaration in December, 2014, President Buhari wailed and showed his displeasure at the ‘expensive’ nomination form of his party which stood at 27.5 million naira. The President claimed he never had such ‘huge’ amount of money and would turn to purchase a bank loan.

“It’s a pity I couldn’t influence this amount to be put down as in the case of ladies and the disabled that intend to participate. I always looked left and right in our meetings but I could not read sympathy, so I kept my trap.

“But I felt heavily sorry for myself because I don’t want to go and ask somebody to pay for my nomination forms, because I always try to pay myself, at least for the nomination.

“N27 million is a big sum, thankfully I have personal relationship with the manager of my bank in Kaduna and early this morning, I put an early call (and) I told him that very soon the forms are coming, so, whether I am on red, or green or even black please honour it, otherwise I may lose the nomination.

“I was about to go to Kaduna this morning and I told the Chairman (John Odigie-Oyegun) but he said in that case, you better pick your form and keep a straight face. That means there is no excuse,” General Muhammadu Buhari (October, 2014)

In January 2015, it was discovered that Zahra Buhari is living and studying in the University of Surrey, UK, where her tuition and expenses are allegedly up to £30,000, approximately N8m annually. Why this is debatable, the pictures of Zahra could as well explain what seems amiss and could explain the luxury we know nothing about

In February, Aisha Buhari donated drugs worth N135m to the Internally Displaced Persons camps in Adamawa State. Although this is an act of generosity and great service to humanity, one must be recalled to see the irony in this. That Aisha could donate N135m a month after Muhammadu Buhari claimed he does not have N27m to purchase his nomination form is thought provoking.

Buhari have been touted severally to be a saint that cannot afford even a house. He claimed his houses were built with borrowed sums;

"I have a house each in Kaduna, Kano, and Daura which I borrowed money to build. I never had a foreign account since I finished my courses in the USA, India and the UK. I never owned any property outside Nigeria. Never.” – General Muhammadu Buhari (Dec. 2014)

Perhaps the President is too proud to share finance with his wife. One must quickly point that Aisha Buhari is a trained aesthetician. She obtained a diploma in Beauty Therapy from the Carlton Institute of Beauty Therapy, Windsor, United Kingdom and a certificate course from the French Beauty School, Esthetique Academie Dubai. With this in mind, Aisha’s Spa in Wuse 2, Abuja may not be enough to comfortably dish out N135m to charity save she also purchased a bank loan like Buhari.

Aisha’s official portrait which was released on May 29, Nigeria’s inauguration has left thousands of Nigerians and the international community talking. With a seeming Cartier Baignoire Folle 18 carat White Gold Diamond ladies watch valued at 34,500 pounds (N10.4m) hanging on her wrist. It would be impossible to say the Buharis are indeed an average Nigerian family.

While Nigerians are earnestly waiting for the ‘Change’ they voted, hopes and dreams have been entrusted to the newly elected President. Again, Aisha Buhari has been the rave of the moment with the recent diamond watch scandal.

Whatever it is the Buharis are not telling Nigerians about their wealth, Nigerians would only assume that the present administration is not too far from proving to Nigerians that they have indeed been deceived yet again.

1. "Expensive Store"

The author was clearly trying to be cunny by admitting that "the picture was taken in a supposedly expensive store". What is the rationale for determining an expensive store from a photo? I have been to many and I will tell you even the cheapest stores like Primark invest heavily in decor due to its significant impact on consumer behaviour. Take a look at the store below, that is one of the cheapest stores you can shop for clothes in the UK (Primark: average £8/item) and some Nigerians can't be caught dead shopping there, not an exaggeration. The author has no justification for that 'expensive store' claim, and is null and void.

2. Overseas Education

Again, the author displays his ignorance as to funding in UK Universities. First of all the University of Surrey charges £16,500 (N4.9m) for the entire masters programme, and accomodation is typically between £4k and £6k (N1.2m) so I wonder where he pulled out his £30,000 from? The way they ascribed 10 million to Aisha's watch? Furthermore, these costs are not one-time, the fees can be spread in 3 installments (N2.5m, N1.2m, N1.2m), and the living expenses are as accrued, so it is wicked and misleading to assume a lump sum of Ten Million Naira is required to send Zara to school.

3. Aisha's Wealth

Aisha Buhari CLEARLY has more access to disposable income than her husband, which goes further to explain the funding of other expenditure such as overseas education. Lets disregard the fact that Aisha Buhari is a internationally qualified aesthetician from the Carlton Institute of Beauty Therapy, Windsor, UK and Esthetique Academie Dubai and runs a successful bespoke beauty business for a second and examine her family background.

Aisha Buhari was born in Adamawa state in the family of the first Minister of defense, Mohammadu Ribadu. She was schooled in the best of Fulani traditions and cultures . She speaks English and Arabic fluently.

Mrs Buhari is currently a graduate student of International Affairs and strategic planning. She is also an alumnus of the famous Carlton Institute of London and the ACADEMY Esthetique Beauty Institute of FRANCE, Dubai, where she earned post graduate diploma in cosmetology and beauty theraphy. Following her certification in beauty and PERMANENT MAKE UP , Mrs Buhari was encouraged and supported by her husband to engage in private enterprise where she has since become an employer of labour, a mentor to all aspiring cosmetologists and a consultant to the KRCP/NNPC on skills acquisition. Mrs Buhari is a member of the United Kingdom Vocational Training and Charitable Trust (VTCT), THE International Health and Beauty Council (HBC).

Only a mischievous person with an agenda will question the financial capacity of a blue-blooded consultant, entrepreneur, and professional born into a wealthy family background with connections and a wide network, and her ability to raise critical funds (like she did again for the campaign) for a pressing humanitarian need, in the face of the irresponsibility of the presiding government at the time.

The second biggest lie ever told other than that the Devil does not exist is the mythical status of Buhari's non-corrupt stance and austere state.

This man has had his hand in our national tilt since 1973!

Make una dey deceive una self.

Somebody that single handedly floated a political party and contested elections 4 times in a row can never be poor.

It is very stupid to believe that Buhari is a saint. Number 1 as a former president of an oil rich country, he can never be poor. He has many entitlements and yes he is an above average Nigerian. I don't no why people are making him out to be a saint. As far as I am concerned all this things he is doing are just publicity stunt and it will harm him more because if he keeps hiding, his children and wife might not hide. Especially that his son that looks like a small thief already. ( just kidding).

Anyway, I think this is what the Nigerian public needs. Do not limit your investigations to politicians in the federal level. Start finding out things about local government chairman in your area, senators and house of Representatives members and publish it. Their life style, their children's life style, We should use the social media to our advantage. Spread the the news till it gets to serious to ignore. This will curb stealing and wreckless show of wealth and oppression. This may be the only way we can at least get something from the government.

He will Take some of the Cows to Aso Rock, when he wants to eat Nama meat, they'll just kill one for him and his family, and then he wouldn't bother to Increase The national Yearly Kitchen Budget. Thereby making us Save more Money, Unlike the Clueless One, who was eating Imported Fish and Crayfish.
