you should also send this link to elampiro. i have always told him that UEFA/EPL count such stuff as assists even when opta do not recognise rebounds as assists.

UEFA counted assist for tevez & messi but opta did not count it for them. i think it won't be long when there would be a universal rule for what constitutes an assist. if a player is brought down in the box that resulted into a scored penalty, EPL counts it as an assist but opta does not.

And in the case of the PK.. If Hazard was the one brought down in the box and he later scored the resulting PK, Does that make it 1 assist and 1 goal for Hazard?

the law is clear on that.
a player cannot assist himself. so if the same player scores his rebound, no assist is awarded to anyone.

Exactly sir. To whom more was given. I don't know if you saw the game. I did and he really showed exactly what I have seen of him - "Laziness" and "sheer unwillingness to work hard".
