Stannis held out against the power of the Reach for a f**king year while trapped in his own castle. He and his men ran out of food and didn’t quit while 20,000 men kept trying to siege the castle. They starved and Stannis didn’t quit. He ate his own f**king boots while Mace Tyrell dined in plain sight. He never quit. Ramsay destroys his supplies and food and Stannis immediately decides his situation is so dire that he needs to burn his daughter at the stake to improve his luck. This isn't the Stannis that I know.

Stannis isnt a religious fanatic, he doesn't wholly believe in R'hllor. And he won't sacrifice his only child and heir, because of what Ramsay did. That's not Stannis. Now that Renly case is different. But as he's fighting for the throne, being the dutiful man he is,why would he burn his only heir, doesnt he know a war would start over succession after he dies, like with him and Renly.

Stannis doesn't have to be a fanatic to see that the last time he didn't listen to the woman he lost at blackwater the few times he did and the red woman performed her juju three kings died.
This actions of stannis are in line with the character we have seen so far.
No military tactics will suddenly make cold half starved man to fight at full capacity.
