Hello @justwise and other profs here,... Please I need a little clarification on uk study visa application as per the Acct statement thingy that needs to show evidence of capacity to pay school fees and living costs for program duration. The 28 day period that I need to have ds money in ma account, is it up until when I pay for my visa application fee or when I am invited for interview. Thanks |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by justwise(m): 10:56am On Jun 07, 2015 |
NJN: You will hold it for 28days before you make the online application |

good morning justwise, u hv been doing a great job here n i commend u for that............ my own qstn is.... a friend is inviting me for his graduation in the uk and i am a business owner and i want to sponsor my self down there. i have booked hotel n would want to stay for 12days. but what i feel is a problem now is the fact that i do not have a company acc, i use savings for my business and ive got huge and small funds moving in n out of the acc. can i still use the acc to apply as a company owner? Ur urgent response will be highly appreciated. thanks in advance. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by justwise(m): 9:44am On Jun 08, 2015 |
Chiichii2010: Yes he can sponsor her as long as he can afford it without using his business capital. He needs to show proof of source of his income, proof of relationship with your sister and accommodation in the UK. Are they engaged? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by justwise(m): 9:48am On Jun 08, 2015 |
urch999: You really don't have any other option now than to use that account. What you need to do is to explain in details how you run your business, how much profit you make monthly/yearly etc. Do you pay tax? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Nobody: 10:28am On Jun 08, 2015 |

I applied for a UK visitors visa but got refused, find below a part of the refusal letter- You have stated on your application that you are single and employed as an ....... and earn 210,000 NGN (£668.63) per month. You have provided an employment letter and payslips to support this. • You state that you have £1,800 available for your proposed trip. As evidence of available funds you have submitted bank statements from .... Bank and ... Bank showing combined funds of 910,871.76 (£2,900.17). I do not find it credible that you would spend almost two thirds of your savings on a holiday given your personal circumstances. This causes me to doubt that the purpose of your visit is as stated. • In light of all of the above I am not satisfied as to your intentions in wishing to travel to the United Kingdom and will leave the UK at the end of your visit. Furthermore, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient funds available to cover your costs whilst in the UK without working or accessing public funds. You application for a visit visa has been refused under paragraph V4.2 (a) (e) Any future UK visa applications you make will be considered on their individual merits, however you are likely to be refused unless: • your personal circumstances change significantly between now and your next application • you provide compelling new evidence with your next application I want to reapply, what advise can you give me? Thank you |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by worry357: 1:54pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
rhoso: You have made the classic mistake of proposing to spend most of your savings on a holiday. The visa officers look at this and believe that with no funds left you will not return home. If you want to travel you must build up a much larger fund in your bank. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by rhoso: 1:57pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
Yea, a mistake I must admit but I misunderstood the questions on the form. Anyway I have 1.1m in my account now and plan to reduce the amount on the proposed trip to 1,100GBP |

Bosses in the house. Please help. What do you think of this email below. I just got it from LAGOSVisaInfo@fco.gov.uk, applied june 2nd at Ikeja. "Subject: Your Visa Application at the British Deputy High Commission in Lagos Dear (FULL NAMES) A decision has been made on your UK visa application. Your application will be despatched within 48 hrs. If anyone contacts you advising that your application is still under consideration or that they can influence the outcome of your application in any way, please disregard as they cannot. You should not expect to receive any further notification from this office. Kind regards, Lagos Visa Section" |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by rhoso: 3:14pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
justwise: Thank you @ Justwise I got this refusal last week, my salary for last month has been paid and I have about 1.1m in my account. My friend that gave me an invite also said he can write as a co-sponsor..also I plan reducing the amount I will spend on the trip from the initial 1,800GBP to 1,100GBP. Thank you. |

Hello people, I actually applied for and got my business visa, thanks to your advice. Now comes my dilema, cliche as it may sound ... I want my husband and 2 kids to join me in the UK after the training, so please my questions are: 1. My husband doesn't have a tax clearance so I plan on sponsoring since I have a job and good travel history (husband n kids have been to schengen countries and south africa). Question is, can I sponsor without raising any suspicions? 2. I have a joint investment accounts with my dad and my husband (separate accounts), but not enough in my current account. Will the ECO rely on my current account balance only? 3. If I'm sponsoring, do I need to mention to joint account with hubby? cos it doesn't make sense to me for wife to sponsor n present a joint account with hubby. they may as well both sponsor the trip. pls if we don't have a good chance, I need to know so we don't throw money away. we can visit another country and do UK some other time. Thanks very much. really anticipating your response. |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by gaskinachi(m): 7:22pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
urch999: Bro I also run my business from my personal acct and pay individual tax ...I've applied twice and gotten the visa on both occasions ...just add receipts invoices etc that correlate wit heavy deposits in ur acct also give as much explanation as u can in d additional info box |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by justwise(m): 7:25pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
Chiichii2010: No he can't use his business account but he has to include it in the application as a proof for his tie to Nigeria and source of his income. The money for trip has to come from his personal account whether savings or current account. He also need to attach his tax receipts, business registration paper and other properties he may have....car, houses, shares/other investments |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by justwise(m): 7:29pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
urch999: At least you pay some sort of tax, like I said before it all down to how good you put this down in your application form, explaining clarify how you run your business and also remember that you are likely to be called for an interview so you will use that opportunity to clarify things. |
