@justwise, spike C etc... HELP!!! owkay...now I've got ur attention . here's d drift please I need candid advice on which school to accept btw a) Coventry University which is doing pretty gud amongst oda schools plus dey've got sum pretty career programs (such as d GLP and IEMS) dat will really benefit me. AND b) Sheffield Hallam University which is also not bad in d ranking and they are giving me £3000 discount (Dats close to a million box ). plus its cost of living is cheaper dan Coventry. Now my Igbo sense keeps telling me 'young man Sheffield hallam is d best (I believe u knw why). so I don't knw...I need advice. 2) .. is der any thing wrong in accepting conditional offers from 2-3 different schools...i knw someone who did and is seeking ur advice. if he made a mistake by accepting d offers ( Conditional) and ow to go about it. |

Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by worry357: 12:50pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
jnrbanks: Can't say for sure, but if your name is entered twice on the university entrance clearing computer it might cause problems. Go where your heart says, and look how the school performs or gains jobs in YOUR SUBJECT not overall. |
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by jnrbanks: 12:52pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
Preciousstones: I don't get d fees part...if its about d discount, they'll subtract it from my fees and I'll balance d remaining. if its d deposit fee for Coventry den no....am yet to pay d fee... |
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by jnrbanks: 12:57pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
worry357: tnx boss...will do further research on d job ish but d much I did, both are pretty gud... about d entrance clearing computer u aforementioned, I dont really get and please ow best do u advice one to cancel any of d offers ( is it best to mail d school and tell dem u no longer interested or Jst wait till ur deadline passeses since its a conditional offer) tnx |
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by Nobody: 1:02pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
jnrbanks: Okay but apart from the fees still consider the school that will benefit you like what worry357 said.I was in your shoes before(confusion) after I had four offers I was confused with coventry and university of east anglia but I used graduate prospect and ranking in my discipline/subject to make up my mind. But follow your heart if its the fees you are considering its fine |
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by jnrbanks: 1:11pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
Preciousstones: yea...Will probably take my time and weigh a lot of factors... funny enuf Sheffield hallam fee is a few pounds higher dan Coventry sef...but d discount which ends dis year is really mouthwatering and makes a lotta difference... i wouldn't rush tho... |

Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by justwise(m): 1:25pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
jnrbanks: Ranking matters but if Sheffield Hallam University gives you that generous discount then go for it, you will need that money badly, work hard and get good result that will compensate for the ranking in some ways. Ranking changes, Coventry is ranked 15 in one website while the other one ranked the same university 45, if they are not giving you good discount then go for Sheffield Hallam University. Number of foreign students coming to the UK now has reduced so schools has to give discounts or other stuff to attract foreign students. |

justwise: @justwise tanx boss... am still looking for d one dat will give me £5000 fee discount ... Jst kidding will put every thought in mind b4 deciding. @ jnrbanks, tuition at SHU should be £11,500 witg your £3,000 discount you pay £8,500. At Coventry, you'll be paying around £9,000. So tuition-wise, both schools are giving you the sane deal. Consider @worry357 job prospects and @precioustones module peculiarities and your interests. |
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by justwise(m): 10:31pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
naijamark: Coventry school fees is £12,349 for classr courses while practical courses goes for £13,013 |

justwise:Ofcourse, it's just funny coming from you |
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by Nobody: 10:47pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
justwise:That must be a recent development. Then if I were in your shoes @jnrbanks, I'll put more consideration on SHU offering that tuition discount. That difference mehn, is no beans. |
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by justwise(m): 10:49pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
spikesC: I know what you mean but certain schools will struggle to hold high ranking position considering the fact that other website ranked the same school lower. |
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by jnrbanks: 10:53pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
@naijamark, yea u all are on point... am still doing a thorough check in terms of job prospects and der individual modules. BUT about d tuition fee.... Coventry is £11453 and Sheffield is £11900. so with d discount I should be paying £8900 at shu instead. so u see d difference now. but either way I'd try not to let d NINE HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN THOUSAND NAIRA discount overshadow my decision |
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by Nobody: 11:03pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
jnrbanks:With your quoted fees, the difference in tuition will be £2,553 which is over 790,000 Naira. Guy, reason am well. |
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by jnrbanks: 11:07pm On Jun 08, 2015 |
naijamark: Naah...I wasn't comparing both...was Jst mentioning ow much dem wan remove... modified.. yea...I go still check if cu will give any discount coz I get ur drift... plus also accommodation and living expense in Shu is cheaper compared to d former. av not decided yet...still trying to cross all Ts. tnx for pointing dat out coz I no ist reason go der b4 |

Hi folks, Pls. with the BVN expiry slated for the end of June and for those of us who started our programme last year. Obviously, the expiry would affect peeps like me who has money in my account. The problem now is transferring the money to my UK account at least the much that i'm going to need before my programme rounds off. Considering the limit on the amount of withdrawals per day, the killing exchange rates and the transaction charges. Does anyone has a better way to transfer this money to my UK account? I recently found out about this TransferWise website but they don't have from Nigeria to UK yet but the reverse is possible. I'm also thinking Western Union but I haven't looked at it yet...Does anyone has a better suggestion for me? Thanks! |
