I think we only need two changes to make against the Germans - my personal opinion. If Nwakali is 100% fit, he should start the game ahead of Ifeanyi, and Iheanacho should play Bulbwa's role!
So far Godwin is doing fine, his work rate is outstanding, his pace, speed and dribbling are fantastic too. Awoniyi should maintain the striking role, he's growing in his confidence as time goes by!
Wishing the Lads best of luck in advance!

TheGoodJoe:
Superb article and it touched the most important points. I believe our boys will perform better than they did against the Hungarians. The Super Flying Eagles are gaining confidence. Avoiding Germany would have spelled doom for the team. The loss to Brazil shattered the confidence of the team. This team came into the tournament with the zeal to crush any opposition that came their way. Unfortunately, Brazil smashed their confidence.

The win against Korea was not convincing to show this team has what it takes to go all the way to the finals and lift the trophy. The win against Hungary instilled confidence and showed they are no more scared of any opposition. Playing Serbia with no confidence would not help them.

Coach Manu and his crew will most likely stick to his winning squad but they have to prepare to make swift changes if things are not going according to plan. Another Challenge is we have four attacking Super subs in Yahaya, Success, Nacho and Moses. With only three changes available, the crew must make accurate changes. Strictly on technical grounds.

The Germans will know where to hurt us, they are ahead of the world technically when it comes to reading games after their technological strides shown in the last World Cup. There is no room for sloppiness and laziness from the team. They must stick together at all times.

No room for errors and Enaholo should not be acrobatic or theatric in this coming game.

FLY EAGLES FLY.

That is my issue with Nigerian coaches. We are still far behind our European and South American counterparts when it comes to technical, tactical and match reading abilities. Manu Garba stands out among Nigerian coaches though.

Just imagine a highly technically astute coach having the luxury of such attacking prowess. Good enough, each player has a unique individual ability which will be useful per time

@kannymoore , get well soon brother !

You really need to understand the Manus philosophy , he doesn't really need an holding midfielder in his style of play , sometimes he sees them as ball joggler ,all he want his a good passer , who can give beautiful passes to his team mates, one of the reason he prefers Awoniyi over others is because of his brilliant passes apart from his scoring ability . One of our midfielders that got injured would have been the best option in that role of an holding midfielder that can dictate the pace of the game ,but so unfortunate he was left out of the competition due to injury .iheanacho would have done well in that role , but now he's more or less a striker ,Sokari is our best option he needs to up his game and distribute more dangerous passes . If Manu plays iheanacho and simon , we may be attacking from the wings in our next game , and this will also help the midfielders to express themselves well when they have the opportunity .
that would be Enugu rangers midfielder workhaholic nwobodo. very good on the ball

KINGSLEY SOKARI: We
don’t care about favourites
tag
Kingsley Sokari played in Nigeria’s two
opening matches at the ongoing FIFA
Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
He was a second half substitute in Nigeria’s
opening game – a depressing 2-4 defeat to
Brazil at the Stadium, Taranaki, New
Plymouth.
Recently, Nigeria coach, Manu Garba,
decided it was time he unleashed his
midfield pearl on the world stage from the
start as he was thrown into the fray ahead
of Manchester City starlet, Kelechi
Iheanacho.
Sokari did not disappoint. He took over the
midfield and scored a stupendous goal as
the Flying Eagles put Korea to the sword in
emphatic fashion (The Nigerians won 4-0).
The midfielder, who is also a member of
Nigeria’s senior men’s national team (the
Super Eagles), the Under-23s, and six time
Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)
champions, Enyimba FC, spoke about the
unusual things about himself.
Could you tell us about your favourite food?
I will go for wither Rice or Yam. Let me have
either with egg sauce plus noodles and you
have a happy man with you.
Who is your best friend in football?
That has to be Christian Pyagbara. We are
both Port Harcourt boys and we started
together.
Which is your favourite car?
That will have to be the latest model of X6. I
think it is the best car in the world.
Best memory in football?
Breaking into the Super Eagles squad during
the qualifiers for the 2015 Africa Cup of
Nations (Afcon) will always be special to
me.
And the worst?
The red card I picked up in Egypt when
Enyimba played against Smouha in the
(2015) CAF Champions League. We
conceded two goals after I was sent off and
crashed out of the competition after I got
dismissed. It was painful because I did not
deserve to be sent off as the officiating was
so bad.
Who are the best dressed members of the
Super Eagles, Under-23s, Under-20s and
Enyimba?
For the national teams, it will be hard to give
a name because we never dress in casual
clothes while in camp. For Enyimba, I will go
with Ugwu Uwadiegwu.
And the worst?
Danlami Umar….shocking dresser.
Who is the best coach you have ever
worked with?
(Grassroots coach) Joseph Egbu, also
known as coach Zico.
Who is the hardest defender you have ever
faced?
Heartland defender, Nelson Ogbonnaya. I
think he’s one of the best in the NPFL.
Who’s that one celebrity you will love to
date?
(thinks long and hard)….none yet to be
honest.
What would you do if you found a million US
dollars in your account?
(Laughs). Well, that cannot happen now
unless I join a European club which should
happen one day by the grace of God.
Which European club do you support?
In England, it’s Manchester United while FC
Barcelona is the club for me in Spain.
Who is the best footballer in the world
today?
Cristiano Ronaldo; he’s strong, intelligent
and a born winner
Do you keep pets?
No.
I-pad or I-pod?
Laptop.
If you were to be abandoned on a deserted
Island, what one possession would you take
with you?
My phone. The contacts I have in that phone
are just priceless.
Favourite holiday destination?
None yet.
Can the Flying Eagles win the World Cup in
New Zealand?
Yes, we will conquer. People talk about
Brazil and other teams, but we are not
worried. We know that with the quality of
players we have in this team, other teams
are scared of us.

FIFA U20 World Cup: Nigeria against Germany will be difficult – Etim Esin

Former Flying Eagles player, Etim Esin, has predicted that the Round of 16 game between Nigeria’s Flying Eagles and their German counterparts at the ongoing FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand will be a difficult one.

The Flying Eagles who finished second in their group are billed to face the Germans on Thursday and opinions are divided on how the game will pan out.

“It is going to be a difficult game,” Esin told PREMIUM TIMES. “As it is right now, if we get out of that stage it will be good for us,” he said.

The 48-year-old former attacking midfielder advised the team to play a defensive game against the attack-minded Germans who scored as much as 16 goals in the group phase.

“The team needs to work and focus more on their defense against the German side because it will determine their stay in the tournament,” he said.

“I was worried about them performing but if they get their applications right they will win,” he said.

“We have been scoring goals and it should continue that way, I really see determination on their faces,” Esin concluded.

On his part also, Head Coach of the Nigeria U-20 team, Manu Garba, has said his team is ready to withstand any team that comes their way including Germany.

“Our next game is against Germany, but we are ready for any team, because if we want to be champions we have to be ready for of them,” he told FIFA.COM

The U20 flying Eagles made it out of the group stages after crushing Hungary and finishing second in the Group E of the tournament.

FLYING EAGLES LAND IN CHRISTCHURCH FOR GERMANY SHOOTOUT

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles arrived Christchurch Monday evening ahead of Thursday’s U20 World Cup Round of 16 clash against European champions Germany.

The African champions have checked into Rydges Latimer Christchurch, where their rivals for a place in the last-eight of the World Cup are also putting up.

The Flying Eagles, led by NFF executive committee member Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’, flew out of New Plymouth, where they have played all their group games, for Auckland.

They had a two-hour transit in Auckland before they departed for Christchurch, which was in 2011 hit by a massive earthquake.

They will have their first training in Christchurch on Tuesday evening by 6pm local time.

Their match on Thursday will kick off at 7.30 pm, which will be 8.30am also Thursday in Nigeria.

The winners of this match-up will battle the winners of another Round of 16 match between Ghana and Mali in the quarterfinals, which will also be staged in Christchurch.

IFEANYI MATTHEW CLEARED TO RESUME FLYING EAGLES TRAINING

Midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew will return to training with the Flying Eagles on Tuesday after he suffered a bad cut in his foot against Brazil and missed his team’s last two games.

“I am happy that the doctor has said I could now return to training,” a happy Matthew told AfricanFootball.com

The El Kanemi Warriors star missed the wins over North Korea and Hungary on account of the injury.

However, it is left to be seen who will now replace in the Flying Eagles starting XI particularly as the team are winning again.

He was the provider-in-chief for Taiwo Awoniyi at the African Youth Championship in Senegal and also weighed in with his own goals.

He is essentially an attacking and creative midfielder, while the team now need hard working ball winners in the middle of the park.

Just what I was pondering about Sir... Well said.
I BELIEVE THAT TO LINE UP A SUPER TECHNICALLY BALANCED SIDE (BALANCED IN ATTACK AS WELL AS DEFENCE) IS THE KEY AGAINST THE GERMANS AND FOR THE REST OF THE COMPETITION.
I see Sir manu garba starting 'at least' 1 of the ffwg players against Germany: Iheanacho, Yahaya, Moses Simon, Ifeanyi Matthew and Nwakali.
ONE THING 4 SURE: SUCCESS WONT START. AWONIYI IS THE MAN!
POSSIBLE LINE UP VS GERMANY...

Lol. Some people feeling themselves here. Because you think the team cannot lose a game doesn't make you a better fan. Even teams like Barcelona loses games and our boys have lost one in this tourney already. As fans, we are all allowed our opinions. So, get off your high horses!
At the end of the day, the only thing that should matter is that we all want the progress of the team...

Nice job tbaba 1234..
I think the boyz would also benefit from some level of psychologist, like our game against Brazil, our boyz game the Brazilian a lot of respect and some of our defenders were panicking. This in a way affected their coordinations.

The boyz shouldn't give the German any sign of respect, they should forget about the name but concentrate on the game.

Good work by the team, motivation and God on our sides, victory shall be ours.
