Tinubu might have been deafeted and Saraki now senate president but he is now on a sharp edge.

He has now offended more people in APC than he can afford , and his only way out might be to join PDP ,in which case he would be the traitor he always was. A very desperate way to gain leadership

If he decamps, he would be impeached! Wait for what's coming! Pmb refused to be involved in the whole stuff jus like he would refuse to get involed when the efcc comes after any senators. The senate president has no imunity! Mark my words .....winter is coming!

*Saraki was elected Senator under the banner of APC.
*He was elected Senate President, under the banner of APC.

*Now, you call him a Traitor..... and 'predict' he will decamp to PDP.

All the above are facts upon which l want to make some deductions:

1.) We dont yet have a full-blown democracy
2.) Our Politicians are not about any "beliefs, doctrine or even dignity". The sway where they feel they can achieve their own personal, selfish interest
3.) Bukola Saraki has decamped not for the first time, not even will this be the last time and he is not the only person doing this wantonly

A lot of Nigerians, as happens in other climates, vote based on "party affiliation". Just like a Brit will vote Labour because he supports Labour. Now, if that elected person decamps to another party, he AUTOMATICALLY LOSES THAT SEAT, THE SEAT IS DECLARED VACANT AND A FRESH ELECTION IS CONDUCTED.

In Nigeria, some opportunistic politician ride on the crest of a party's popularity to power, takes up their portfolio and then decamps to another party leaving the voters dazzled?

Nigerians who want to "better" our democracy and tame some of the excesses of our "prostituting politicians" must campaign a change in the current practice of decamping and still retraining a seat for which you were elected to, under the former party.

Even the Governor of Ondo state did this same ignoble and undignified tactic.

As for Bukola Saraki, lets not put all the blame on him; He is an opportunist and has always being a sort of "mole" but then, if you look at the antecedent of his family since the Republic of early 70's, when Olushola Saraki (the Father) held sway. its always this type of "decamping practice".
The real blame lies on Nigerians who cannot and will not clamour for this practice to STOP by using all legal means (Public Protest, Law Suits, Sponsoring Bills at the NASS, e.t.c) to change the status quo.

We cannot keep blaming others for our own ineptitude!

Wishing the elected man the best, to the benefit of our dear Nigeria.

Apart from may be PMB for now what is the difference between APC and PDP?

Why is APC leadership wants to influence every little thing and person in every level of governance? Does it mean the elected officials do not have enough sense to elect their officials? Which kind direction are we headed with APC? Very disappointed to say the least.

A house divided against itself can never and will never stand. Take Law makers out of this issue, if APC as a party can not at this early stage make unanimous decision at the Federal level which suppose to be the head, they are doomed to fail soon. I can smell breaking off of some strong members of the APC sooner than later which will give the oppositions opportunity to explore their loop holes.

Let me add that the "death" of APC started when it started accepting every Tom, Dike and Hillary that decamped from the PDP, into their fold, after PMB won the election.

Common sense should have told them Oyegun, Tinubu and co that this "new embers" are not coming to the APC because they love or believe in the "change mantra" of the APC..... but just to do "Come and Chop".
The Branch breaks.... the bird flies away! .... as we say!

Its like figuratively speaking, going to bed with your worst enemy!

APC itself, the real APC, is not divided but what we have now is that "Original APC" and the "PDP metamorphosed-to-APC" members, acting out their selfish interest.

In all these, if care is not taken and urgent steps taken to strategize, there will be two main losers!

1.) Buhari, whose noble intentions and drive for a better Nigeria, will be disappointed and his image may even become rubbished. He may end-up a sort of "Arrested development".

2.) Even more importantly, Nigerians whose hope have been raised, and rightly so, will realize that though they have voted for the Candidate and party of their choice, what they have is not Change .... but that they have been "Short-Changed"!
Its will be a case of "Hand of Esau but the Voice of Jacob".

Nigerians need to be very vigilant henceforth. wink

Of-course, the SaTANoids and die-hard Jonathan's supporters whose only interest is to see "the fall of this Govt", even if it means in the process, they also fail in all aspects of their livelihood, will be back-slapping and feeling happy right now but then, only fools "cuts-off their nose, .....just to spite their face"! undecided

Saraki knows that! Most of those PDP senator would gladly make a deal with efcc for their freedom in exchange for their signature. Omooba77:
A scheduled meeting between leaders of the All Progressives Congress, President Mohammadu Buhari and members of the National Assembly, elected on the party’s platform, ended abruptly on Tuesday.

This followed the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as President of the 8th Senate.

The party leaders and some elected Senators and members of the House of Representatives were at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, waiting for Buhari, when news filtered in that the Senate had been inaugurated and that Saraki had emerged unopposed.

As if this was not enough, Senator Ike Ekweremadu of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party defeated Senator Ali Ndume of the APC to clinch the slot of Deputy Senate President.

The emergency but belated meeting of the APC was slated for 9am while the inauguration was scheduled to hold at 10am. However, as of 10. 56am, the APC legislators at the ICC were still waiting for the President.

The notice of meeting, which was circulated, partly read, “The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, will address all Senators and House of Representatives members-elect of the All Progressives Congress at 9am this morning Tuesday, the 9th of June, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja. All concerned must endeavour to attend this meeting.”

Party leaders had convened the emergency meeting as part of a last ditch effort to unite the party ahead of the election of principal officers of the National Assembly.

All efforts by the party to resolve the conflict between Senator Bukola Saraki and his supporters on the one hand, and Senator Ahmed Lawan and his supporters on the hand, failed.

In a shadow election, held last Saturday, the APC announced Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila as its sole candidates for the Senate Presidency and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively.

It also announced Senator George Akume and Mohammed Mungono as sole candidates for the positions of Deputy President of the Senate and Deputy Speaker respectively.

The party leaders of the party had hoped that a pep talk from the President himself could save the day.

This was not to be as news of happenings within the National Assembly Complex jolted party leaders as they all rushed into their waiting vehicles and headed for the National Assembly.

On his way out of the ICC, National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, said he had no comment or reaction on the happening at the Senate.

“I have no comment, I have no reaction,” he added.

APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun said, “We just watched it (on television) but we will address you when the whole situation has been re-examined.

http://www.punchng.com/news/apc-leaders-in-shock-as-saraki-emerges-senate-president/

I really hope Tinubu wont be side-line because its seems to me the APC do not know how to utilize the power of incumbent to their advantage, and the socalled APC think-tanks dont understand how National politics is being played. Its one think to win and another to know how to govern.

Just because you qualified for the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE finals does not mean you know how to win it.
Am 100% sure that saraki is an APC sympathizer but a Pro-PDP....

I smell a rat here. If the said meeting was for all leaders, senators-elect of the APC, why wasn't Saraki present? Is he no longer a senator under APC? I think he and his supporters were not invited

Secondly, PMB was more than 1hr 56mins late and yet he refused audience with an ambassador who was 15mins late....HYPOCRISY?

And since the APC senators and leaders knew the inauguration was scheduled for 10a.m , what were they still doing at the ICC when the time for the inauguration was due and d oga at the top wasn't in sight?

Why was Buhari calling a meeting of APC Sinators only, He should have gone to the house to address the entire senate and give them whatever advice he has, he is now the president of the country and not president of APC.

Just by pulling the APC sinators away, he made it possible for Saraki to have his way

Isn't it possible that Buhari is part of the plot? Isn't it possible that he simply lured the apc members away from the senate house, with the meeting as a disguise? Underrate politicians at your peril.

The whole thing doesn't make sense. I am not sure if we really understood PMB when he said that he belongs to all and to nobody. It is either we trust this man too much or he's way smarter than he shows.

Whichever is the case, the 8th assembly promises to be a robust and interesting one. Parties should learn how to work together, through compromise and mutual respect.

I wish them all God's grace in dispensing their duties. God bless Nigeria.

APC is becoming a disgrace.

You are in the majority and cannot elect your candidate to lead you? It is now true that APC is a house divided against itself, as we all know, it is made up various groups from different parties and PDP, so it is obvious that it will be difficult to rally around a common goal.

This a taste of what is to come, I see the 49 PDP members rallying around each bill but there will be division within APC for contagious bills making it very difficult for them to use their majority to affect things.

How dull can you be? The Senate inauguration was scheduled for 10:00am and you fools waited for PMB till 10:50am? You think the inauguration activities will be suspended while they wait for you guys to come back? Are they armatures? Don't they know that immediately after inauguration, the members have to elect their leaders?
